I don't see how this would broaden the appeal of Trump's ticket.

I am not sure why he picked Vance. He's not just another white christian man. He's even more of an extreme right-winger than Mike Pence was. Perhaps, because they felt like they needed to make sure they win Ohio for the electoral college and help Sherrod Brown's GOP opponent win for the US Senate race in Ohio. It's also probably because of how much more extreme to the far-right the entire Republican/conservative in the US has gotten.

You know, I am thinking that now that we know that the shooter turned out to be a registered Republican, maybe the people will see more how crazy the whole Republican party has gotten.

Yes, I was referring to Hillary Clinton having won 2.1% more of the popular vote than Trump did in 2016. For the 2000 presidential election, Gore won 0.52% more of the popular vote than Bush did. 2000 was undemocratic because of the staunch conservative SCOTUS who rigged it in favor of Bush and 2016 was undemocratic because of the will of the majority of the people, according to the popular vote, was subverted by such a totally outdated electoral college system.

No, Trump's first popular vote was still not even close to Hillary Clinton's popular vote. He lost the popular vote by about 3 million in 2016. In the 2000 Bush vs. Gore presidential election, Bush lost the popular vote by about 500,000 votes, even though he officially won the electoral college by a razor thin margin and became president. Then again, the right-wing SCOTUS at the time really stole that election for Bush by not allowing a true full recount in Florida. In any case, 2000 was a presidential election that you can definitely say was a close call. Not 2016.

Yeah, but Trump lost the popular vote twice by a lot to establishment Democrats. Also, MTG, Sanders, and AOC still don't represent the majority of Americans because they either are too far right or come off as too far left. None of them would be able to win in a swing area or in a more moderate district or state.

Look at how Merrick Garland fumbled the whole thing with prosecuting Trump for his crimes by pussyfooting for WAY TOO LONG over the need to send a special investigator like Jack Smith to hit the ground running on both the Jan. 6 case and the Classified Documents case, all because Garland way too afraid of being seen as too partisan.

MSNBC is not, but CNN is by constantly bending over backwards to seem like they are being "fair and balance" by continuing to their bothsidesism. They've been basically like "People are very worried about Trump being a danger to this country because of how much he's threatening our democracy, but people are also worried about the danger Biden poses because he comes off as a doddering old man. So, both of them are equally bad...." They are playing right into the hands of Trump by not talking a lot more about Trump, MAGA, project 2025, and the Supreme Court. Even Dan Pfeiffer from Pod Save America, mentioned before about how executives in CNN have admitted to not caring about our country's democracy. They said "Well, it's not our job to protect democracy in America. News is a business and viewership is what matters the most to us for our bottomline." As for the anti-mainstream left media, how are they going to sleep at night if Trump get elected president again? If they have such higher morals than most people in this country, like you say they do, then aren't they going to feel any remorse themselves for letting that evil monster become president again? Maybe, these anti-mainstream left pundits never really gave a damn about leftism and have been preying on their desperate left-wing audience for money and attention by pretending to be these "bleeding heart liberals/progressives." Presidents can't get arrested or be found guilty in the US for any war crimes. They can only get arrested and convicted for crimes done within American soil.

Low-information voters and poorly educated people don't care much about actual policies and don't vote for a candidate based on what that candidate's policies are, right? Though, Project 2025 is a list a numerous unpopular policies. So, how much do voters really care about policies when they are voting for a certain candidate?

That's not the only reason why Trump got elected in 2016. It's also because too many Americans felt like that Obama and Democrats felt like they let them down by not doing enough for them during Obama's 2nd term as president, Hillary Clinton did not have the incumbency advantage, and Hillary Clinton ran against Trump in an open seat for president, while the Democrats held the White House, and didn't run as a true heir apparent of Obama, whom all Democrats in the country were willing to united under. All of that made her and her entire party made her look really bad as a candidate. It was further because Obama and Democrats failed to build their party's coalition like successful party building presidents such as FDR during the New Deal era did or the way that Ronald Reagan did for the Republican part during the 80s and 90s. Obama was too afraid of being a partisan advocate like FDR or Reagan were. Obama should've used the power of his presidency to message with liberal populist rhetoric repeatedly to continue winning over more and more and more support of the people for a modern liberal vision that would be broadly appeal to the general populace like the way FDR did during his time. Also, a lot of people didn't like how Obama didn't come off as emotionally honest and instead came off too often as too cerebral and aloof. Moreover, the Democratic party for decades have kept playing into the hands of the Republican narrative for the sake of "bipartisanship" and "moderation." Furthermore, the mainstream media and left-wing media outlets failed to combat the influence of the right-wing media that has dominated the news coverage in the US since the 90s.

Swing state polls, especially those in the midwestern states, are even more prone to polling errors according to many experts. Look what happened in 2016, when the polls back then predicted around election day that Hillary would comfortably win each of the swing states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Yet, she lost all of those states to Trump in the in the electoral college back then.

I had to make this Megathread. The federal courts in the US, especially the US Supreme Court, has gotten so corrupt that we may not have a democracy anymore in a few years, especially if Trump and the MAGA Republican take back government of the whole government trifecta. I know that there have already been a number of threads made on here about the terrible, frightening, and unjust decisions made by SCOTUS and other courts at the national level. However, there are still A LOT MORE examples that haven't been highlighted about the unethical behavior, abuse of power, or illegal activities by judges, court staff, or other officials within the federal judicial system. Look, obviously there's nothing that I or most people like me can do about all of this. However, I believe there needs to be a discussion about how enough people in our country can be inspired to rally together in some kind of strong coalition or movement at the grassroots to address corruption in the federal courts. The exposure of the corruption and promotion of transparency by the left-wing, the mainstream media, and public awareness campaigns out there to try to bring attention to the issue and push for reform still hasn't been working well enough to motivate enough people out there to help generate the level of public demand needed to effectively pressure lawmakers and court officials to make good material changes to our federal judicial system. Nothing seems to be working at all so far. I wish enough people would wake up to grave danger our country is in and realize how much of why we are sleepwalking into an authoritarian regime in America is because of the how rotten and shaky our whole court system has gotten. I hope this big thread of examples on this issue will generate good, fruitful discussions on possible strategies that could work and on whether or not there is any hope out that this will fixed for the country before it becomes too late. So, let the examples begin.

It’s a valid question you bring out. However, it’s looking like Biden and his entire party have now been the ones who been underestimated by the polls. Look at the extraordinary amount of times the Democrats have overperformed in all of these elections since 2022. Also, Trump had significantly underperformed every single 2024 GOP presidential primary. I think there are a lot of quiet Biden voters this time around who don’t want to bother responding to the polls or pollsters. They that many young throughout the country really don't want to bother by any of these polls because they either have decided to completely tuned out of the news after going through the trauma of COVID or they are too busy partying with their friends or are intensely focused doing on the ground grassroots activism for issues such as climate change, reproductive rights for women, affordability, etc.
