  1. @PureExp Pretty sure that consciousness was already there when we were born, our brains just weren't as developed enough to fully experience or remember it. But what if consciousness developed with our brain when we were still embryos? I mean, that could also be true as none of us has a direct experience from consciousness making some kind of connection “out of nowhere“ with our bodies.
  2. Wow, i had something similar a few weeks ago. I was also in bed watching some videos on my laptop. At some point i fell asleep and woke up about an hour later. At first i just had this puzzled feeling you have sometimes right after waking up, where you don't know really what's going on. So i sat up straight and some seconds later this "swirling" feeling you speak of began. I began to feel less of my body and become more one with my environment. It was a bit scary as i haven't experienced anything similar before so i shook myself and everything was normal again. In some kind it felt like i was experiencing the transition from waking state to sleeping state (into a lucid dream?), but that seems kinda weird as i was sitting straight up in my bed totally awake. This all came totally suprising to me, otherwise i might have gotten further into that experience, without being scared too much.
  3. You can do a little test right now in front of your computer. Move your mouse around on your desktop or this page. See that you have no idea where the mouse is going or what patterns you draw or when you stop moving your mouse. It all comes out of nowhere. Even if you continiously draw the same pattern, the decision to do so was not made by you. Maybe that is the ego trying to take over control, to show that you have control, but i'm not sure about that.
  4. @Nahm That's funny, i did the singing part in a band some time ago and doing the right breathing is also very important there. Thanks for reminding me @Guivs I have to see for myself i guess. Today i meditated with eyes open for half of the meditation and i seemed to be more in tune with my environment. With eyes closed it's just that i get more relaxed. But that's just my opinion from todays practice.
  5. Recently i switched from Do Nothing Meditation to Mindfulness Meditation. What i'm basically doing is focusing on my breath and noticing how my abdomen raises and lowers. I also count from 1 to 10 with each breath and then start from 1 again. Today i rewatched Leo's video on that topic where he explains mindfulness meditation as to focus your awareness on inner and outer sights, inner and outer sounds and inner and outer feelings and then label and savor it for a few seconds. As i tend to meditate with closed eyes, i will not have that much of outer sights that will arise. Does it have any negative effects if i don't focus on that part of experience? Also, with eyes opened it would also be not that effective, because i don't think it's recommended to look around that much during meditation. So would it be enough if i focus just on the inner experience with sights? Of course it is possible to keep awareness on outer sights during normal life, but during regular meditation it doesn't make that much sense to me. Please share your experience on mindfulness meditation if you do it the way Leo is proposing it.
