  1. People need to rally to make sure Trump/Musk doesn't get ahold of military and police powers on their terms. This shit is no joke. If they seize the military/police we're all fked (even more so).
  2. The ignorant one is you, you are just lucky we don't have a way to shut down this mind virus you're trying to spread by calling it stage yellow. It's laughable how blind you are to what's happening. Make no mistake about it, you are promoting imperialist, dictatorial, authoritarian, kleptocratic regimes. And I'm going to keep pointing this out to you until it sinks in. This has nothing to do with AI or tech advancement. There may be a correlation because of current actors, but it's not a causation. Not sure where you get this idea that the likes of Elon Musk wants to share the wealth of AI with you. Have you been reading the news at all??
  3. But that's what the Trump administration is proposing that is being discussed, is to forcibly annex Canada through economic means. That you currently agree with this overall position and approach, as well trying to convince more Canadians that this is okay.
  4. It's pretty bad. You just have blinders on currently that a lot of us do not have. To me the Trump administration is no different than the Chinese and Russian administration that I do not want to be a part of. See multiple people in this thread keep telling you it's bad and you just keep ignoring us... Only your opinion about this counts it seems?
  5. That pretty much also goes against your own argument around "reducing suffering" as the basis/rationale for being annexed. I didn't say we don't have problems or corruption. I keep saying it's a relative matter of "how much". What I don't understand is why you feel such a need to drag an entire country along? Why can't people just immigrate if they wanted? Why do you and OP feel okay to force masses of people to live in basically a different country and have no say? Forcing masses of people to live in another country against their will is what "annexation" basically means in this case.
  6. Okay firstly we do not actually know what the extent of this "suffering" will amount to. The extent of this is speculative right now. I'm not trying to minimize it, but just to point out we don't actually know what this will look like. And you are not weighing/comparing this properly with the suffering of being under the Trump administration, losing your own government, set of rules and practices, values. Losing other benefits from a social democratic government that you currently may be taking for granted but is life saving for many people. Again keep in mind that while this leap may seem easy for someone like you, it may be devastating for other Canadians to varying degrees. I'm not so sure it has the best standards of living given the amount of horror stories I hear from there. I think your argument is out of touch with how many Americans feel about their country and survival situation. On that front I encourage you to investigate with real life examples. It's part of why a turd like Trump got in in the first place, because of how desperate people are and fall for false promises. It's turning into a dictatorship as we speak. The only major difference is that this is a new shift and there're a substantial number of Americans who knows what's happening and opposed to it.
  7. I mean ideologically he is, he has no trouble talking about annexing other countries he deems to be weaker than theirs, without their permission just like Putin and Xi. Perhaps he will use different tactics to get it, such as economic ones, but we don't know that either and it's not exactly wise to sit here and wait until "the worst can happen" either you see. To me if you wait for actual invasion to happen it would be too late. I suppose it is a learning and growing opportunity. It's like saying when you lose your job, what do you do? You have to adapt and move on don't you? It's a similar thing here, where we will just have to adapt. Like if a business is not doing well, you have to adapt and find some new ways to sustain yourself. I don't think we are in such a "cornered" position like Trump makes it out to be, he will say we are cornered because he wants you to fear them and give up. And I'm okay with spending less overall or having a slightly less quality of life because of it. Like what do you really need for basic survival anyway? There was a point in time where there was hardly any "international trade" or more for luxury goods.. In terms of basic survival you don't need very much, I think a lot of that basic survival stuff can be addressed with or without the US. Tariff doesn't mean we stop everything all at once. I mean this is where I think citizens can talk to their representatives about this. Especially if mass job losses happen, there will have to be some kind of response, just like during covid for example.
  8. Of course he is serious. He's going to try to grab whatever he can get his hands on. Just like Putin and Xi. You guys are so naive just because of the prior friendship with US. The US as we know it is basically dead. It has been taken over by a completely different administration at this time, until such a time major things change. "The sheep will spend its entire life fearing the wolf, only to be eaten by the shepherd".
  9. So you are basically a Trump minion doing his work. Great. I pointed them out to you, and the fallacy is fatal. But you have zero opening for reflection. You are trying to manipulate Canadians who can't see through the bullshit, just like Trump is doing. And anyone who call you out you are just going to blatantly dismiss them. What else can I expect from the likes of you? We all know who you sound like with that line.
  10. This is a pretty silly argument. You assume the American dollar will continue to be valued a certain way if Canada was absorbed. And that this wouldn't create more inflation which basically devalues whatever you think you've gained. There's no "free magic money". Value has to come from something/somewhere. If you magically got it like you say, it was prob just stolen from somewhere else. Well then you've just defeated your own argument. If all leaders are the same and corrupt, what's the point of going after another leader like Trump thinking it'll save you? If they're "just the exact same"? Clearly to the other 90% (roughly) of Canadians they do not think Trump is the "exact same".
  11. Well again like I keep saying, you are assuming life will magically get better for you under Trump and his friends. Perhaps for you somehow it seems like it does because you perhaps are ideologically closer to Trump than the leaders in Canada. Life will definitely not get better for certain people in Canada under that administration, as is already proven the case in the US.
  12. Notice nobody in Canada is stopping you from immigration to the US. But you are trying to force the other 90% of Canadians to move in with you, without their permission. This is where no matter how many arguments you list about what you don't like about Canada, it's fundamentally a lower perspective. Because to the other 90% of Canadians we feel the other way around and do not want to move in with the Trump Administration.
  13. Your arguments are mostly a non starter for me because of how much of a corrupt politician/human Trump is, it's not even on the scale for me. He is in the negative zone on the "scale". He probably should go to prison actually if laws actually treated people equally. The only reason he's in power is because of how much of a manipulator he is and people falling for it. So while I may share some of your sentiments regarding benevolent alliances, which by the way in no way has to be in the form of annexation like you suggest, I cannot agree with leadership under Trump whatsoever and is a non-starter for me because of how corrupt he and his friends are. So again, for you to not be able to see this relative differences and peg Canadian politicians on the same level is some extreme blindness to me. But I know I'm kinda just talking to a wall right now and it's pretty useless. Maybe will help other people on the forum though.
  14. I am not naive at all, I know a bully and liar, master manipulator, when I see one. And I know who's playing right into their hands. You have your reasons for being drawn to Trump and his associates, I will not ask why as that is not the main question, but this is at the core of why you would even desire to be part of that administration. You cannot separate Trump administration from this "merger question" at this time, it was he who asked it, and it is his administration that would merge with Canada. So the real question is not necessarily just about "becoming the 51st state" as much as "do you want to be governed under Trump adminsitration"? And for you somehow that answer is yes. So then your mind can come up with a bunch of things to justify that, regardless of what anyone else says.
  15. @Ishanga Nobody's stopping you from moving to the USA. Problem is you are acting as though other Canadians want the same. You are only thinking about yourself really.
  16. I have to use those words to cut through your mind that is too entangled with Trump's lies right now. It's basically like I have access to a lie detector and you do not, it's not personal like it may seem like. It's all relative. There is corruption here too which I have seen. But in comparison overall much less than the Trump Musk administration. Just the fact that he would continuously try to use coercion tactics to "make/force us" to become the 51st state has absolutely zero integrity and that itself should be obvious to you. This is not like some leader asking for permission based on an established relationship. How this question was raised in the first place matters and says a lot.
  17. It just means you are in a "bootstrapping" mode where you invest a lot more than you are earning for the next few years. The provinces are rapidly working together to knock them down at the moment, as far as what I'm gathering from the news. Anything can happen in life in general yes. Problem is you are assuming that Trump administration will protect you if you were to surrender and become absorbed. I have 0 trust with that man and his associates so I take anything he says as though it came out of a monkey's ass. Though that might be too insulting to monkeys. There's usually a reason why that didn't happen (yet).
  18. You are just assuming that right now. You are also assuming Americans are "on board with this" just because Trump and MAGA might be. This wasn't even something people voted him in for. It's just as possible that there are plenty Americans who do not want Canada to be absorbed (by way of respecting our sovereignty) against our wishes, as there are ones who think that's a reasonable stance. You are also assuming Canada cannot quickly form allies besides USA. Notice this whole talk is already pitting your non MAGA citizens in both countries against each other for no reason and stoking a needless conflict. That's his whole plan, is to pit people against each other and he can sit and watch. Again you are assuming it will be 20 years, it could be 1 month, or 1 year, or until such a time Trump is overthrown. The economic mutilation will be on both sides not just one sidedly like Trump claims. But unlike the Trump administration, the Canadian government does have the interest of its citzens in mind in general (a lot more than your Trump Musk turd duo), and which I trust to enact the most optimal economic policies for weathering this storm. Besides that as the average citizen, you can be more intelligent with your spending if your personal finances are not very good. It's basically turning into one right now. You can use the word "democratic" meanwhile acting like an authoritarian dictatorship.
  19. That's the kind of attitude that feeds the bullies. "Oh I am just gonna sit here and let myself get punched in the face and not even try to do anything".
  20. Lol. Well you are exactly the kind of fool that Trump wants to target amongst Canadians, and you are playing right into his manipulations to get what he wants. He doesn't give a damn about you, just saying some words to make you think he does. And well, you have already failed at "epistemology" miserably for even considering being close to that Clown and Idiot and his associates. A fool like Trump can go on about "truth" too just like you do. Also, just because you and a few others want that, the vast majority of Canadians do not (6:30): https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/canada-join-u-s-poll-1.7434317 So your leaders are doing their job, representing the interests of the vast majority of Canadians when they push back on his ongoing rhetoric about getting absorbed by this bafoon and his friends. Notice that Trump is pitting average Americans against average Canadians in this whole scheme. You are damned if you don't fight back, you are damned if you do.
  21. US decline will not be good for anyone.. except maybe for the "bullies". I hope some miracle happens to turn this ship around quick. If nothing else it does look like Canada has to work more closely with the EU and other countries, maybe something would come out of that alliance.
  22. Seems like they were nice and wise people.. But yea the worry that you could get yourself into a similar situation again is legitimate, I think their hope is that you learned something from it. For instance people getting into bar fights is somewhat common and someone who was initially a victim turns into the aggressor.. and next thing you know.. Maybe they have stories about this kind of thing, know people, or others they've dealt with. Hope it works out with the police side though.
  23. It's going to be up to the judge in the end. I just meant that OP has a right to a defense lawyer that knows better than we do if he has any options. It's not about convincing the owner of the dog, it's about convincing the judge which way to rule. Yes mental state claim can lead to mental hospital depending on the severity, however, it could also lead to discharge. It's not really about how one (the owner) feels one way or another, I'm just speaking strictly what options OP has that he should at least explore. You certainly don't want a situation where the facts have not been properly explored before a verdict is reached.
