  1. @Pharion related:
  2. @lmfao try not cutting things off of your routine. replace them. if you give yourself a stretch session, you'll feel WAY BETTER than after watching porn and masturbation. it's a matter of time until your body understands it and make it a new habit. in the long run, you'll be able to spend entire days with healthy habits.
  3. yes. and everyone can say the same thing. mysterious, isn't it? when you think you've grasped it, it slips through your fingers.
  4. @Nadosa Reality still goes on regardless of your struggles. you can just relax instead. enjoy the mysterious show.
  5. i like my protein synthesis and i have no reason to be in conflict with it. the pic you see on the post above is extremely biased. eat healthy food and SHINE. all you have to do is drop trash food. if you want to investigate it, your null hypothesis should be what you see everyday: everyone needs food to survive. the only way to reject your null hypothesis is by finding a genuine counter-example: you either try it yourself or find someone who does it behind cameras 24/7 while being observed by several people for at least 1 year without losing weight (he's achieved stability and is not dying out). until then, there's no reason to take for granted that it's possible to live without eating food with your mouth. be pragmatic and avoid wasting time. breatharianism has nothing to do with enlightenment.
  6. @Eric Tarpall hi there, brother. i'm sorry if that's your reference for birthdays. a birthday can be a big source of contentment. when we celebrate a birthday, we're gratefully acknowledging the presence of a loved one. a birthday gift can be something that comes from your heart. a hug, a few words of wisdom or even an apology. it can be something you buy because it reminded you of the person. it can be something you craft with your own hands. think of a birthday gift as a thank you. if your mother expected you to buy her something, it's probabily because she's hurt for something. maybe she's having a hard time dealing with repressed emotions. you'll certainly achieve a better understanding of this subject when find your way to enjoy the life you have available. with love, thank you
  7. how can you make sure that you're not creating this thread just to feed your neediness and cravings for validations?
  8. yes. and that's why they suffer. the illusion of the ego works like a dark hole for vital energy. you either work from your heart or be drained to death.
  9. @SageModeAustin be honest to yourself and face your insecurities. why do you fear meeting people irl?
  10. do it. you're finally making progress! (i'm not joking around)
  11. to your mother
  12. @Charlotte did you apologize?
  13. @Investing_in_myself i like the following question: why not? the only problem related to material success is when you think that your happiness depends on it. once you're free from attachments, you're free to choose any kind of life you want. there's no happiness to achieve, though. even though i've been growing professionally for 1 year, i've been completely happy for 3+ years.
  14. you're thinking just like i was when i first knew of neural networks . that's a natural way of thinking i guess. the topology of a neural network is not the issue. in fact, a neural network with only one hidden layer is already able to approximate any continuous function (non-linear functions included) to any degree of precision you want, if you have enough data. a neural network would be able to do all of that you mentioned if, and only if, it was trained to do so. the question is: how do you gather training data for that? there are only two options: if you could design the training data by hand, which is an impossibility if you had a god oracle installed on your pc, which is exactly what we're trying to model
  15. @Mezanti you're using conflicting and overlapping concepts and that's why this discussion is pointless. let go of concepts for 10 seconds and you'll have a glimpse.
  16. i agree when you say that a neural network performs calculations that are too complex for us to foresee just with intuition, but we can do the math by ourselves on each node to compute the NN's output by hand. there's nothing strange about how a neural network computes outputs. ok so it must be the learning process that makes the NN mysterious, right? not really... a NN trains by iterating over a training set and updating its edges' weights in order to mimic the unknown function that generated the training set. it's straightforward calculus 1 math. alright... so it must be the training set! this is probably the most interesting part... how to generate the proper training set so that the NN can improve its performance? let the NN run on a virtual simulation playing against itself over and over! at least, that's how they did it on alpha zero. but still, there must be a human made reward function telling how to gather good training sets. ok so it's all about the reward function then. i'd agree on that. you know what would make me scared of AI? if they learned how to design their own reward functions, just like humans choosing what they want to learn! holly molly, that would make me shit bricks. as for now... nah... everytime i try to come up with an AI model that's able to design its own reward functions, i fall back on the old paradigm, where i am the one defining a meta reward function.
  17. no it's different. you can fully understand AI from the bottom (CPU, RAM memory etc) to the top (compiled machine learning libraries, frameworks and applications). there is no mystery at all. your electronic device was built using black box abstractions all the way: from the thing you physically touch to the properties of the words on its screen. the application can be malevolent, though.
  18. fear mankind! AI per se is just elaborated mathematics (probabilities/statistics, linear algebra and calculus, mostly).
  19. ego is an imaginary thing. a flower does not need an ego to survive, even though it has its own thorns to help it. if there is hunger, there will be search for food. if there is thirst, there will be search for water. if there is need to urinate, there will be search for a place to pee and so on. you're not a thing experiencing life. you're LIFE ITSELF experiencing its own mysteries.
