  1. it doesn't matter how open (i think you're talking about the degree of freedom) a game is as long as it offers an api to its core engine that doesn't create a serious bottleneck on the fast-forward mode. the philosophical drive for AI is to understand how the human mind works. right now, if you train an AI to play super maio it won't be able to play sonic very well and vice-versa. but that's not true for human beings... we do learn a lot about sonic (or any 2D platform game) just from learning how to play super mario. and even though it's common sense in terms of human experience, it's quite fascinating when you break it down in terms of formal algorithms (how it actually works in more fundamental levels). there are several directions for the next steps. one of them is to design a learning framework that can generalize well across learning experiences. this video is a little bit old (2017) but it introduces the problem and gives you a taste of what it is like to learn as a computer.
  2. @luckieluuke yes, that's an interesting insight. just a technical detail to keep in mind: this kind of AI learning framework (reinforcement learning) requires access to an environment that allows immense speed up. that's why it can learn to play turn-based games and games that offer api's to communicate with their engines without needing to render graphics. so it's not like it can learn anything.
  3. give us a practical example and we can study it together
  4. attachment to ego is a problem and so is attachment to Truth. this is one of the finest and hardest principles of well-being to embody after a few years of mystical experiences and integration.
  5. the monkey mind starts to panic and create all sorts of imaginary gibberish as a desperate move to incite the feeling of fear, aversion or even trauma.
  6. @Hugo Oliveira build a solid meditation habit and don't take any psychedelics until you've realized the illusory nature of your self-image. psychedelics can be too overwhelming if you're still attached to thoughts.
  7. being selfless and not taking care of yourself are very different things. being selfless just means that you don't exploit/manipulate people and that you help them when you can. trying to help people regardless of your own well-being is an example of irresponsibility, which counts for "not taking care of yourself".
  8. @TheAvatarState alright, i give up. i guess you'll need some extreme mystical experience.
  9. @TheAvatarState the best life? "best" is a human conception... ONE means that there's no separated place for "data". data is everywhere. intelligence is everywhere. data, intelligence, matter, spirit, software, hardware are the same thing. everything is ONE distributed system with infinite granularity.
  10. @TheAvatarState here's a tip for YOU: the universe doesn't comprehend itself. the universe just IS and doesn't even know WHY. who are YOU? where do YOU come from? and WHY are YOU here? isn't it the most amazing thing ever?
  11. you cannot get out of existence. you are existence itself experiencing what it is like to be conscious of itself. what's wrong with building your own meaning? isn't that the perfect situation? if JESUS appeared to me and said "ajasatya, the mean of your life is X" i would think "hell no. im gonna do Y!" having a fundamental meaning attached to life sucks for the human experience.
  12. @TheAvatarState you can contemplate it and find awe in it everytime from an infinite number of different perspectives. it's the greatest joy and mystery of existence itself, man. if you could understand it with the mind, as in some conceptual framework, it wouldn't be that amazing.
  13. this actually made me laugh why do you think you can grasp infinity?
  14. @MM1988 show me the designer and i'll answer your question.
  15. what's left? ask yourself if the statement "And enjoying the games is out of the question" is fundamentally true until it becomes clear to you that it's a groundless dogma.
  16. @Empty there is no other alternative. you have to go towards your fears. find the proper dosage for you and face it everyday. gradual exposure is the best strategy.
  17. i'd go for it first. becoming financially independent is hard enough. engaging in a relationship requires attention and energy in order to overcome your emotional barriers. since you have a deadline (next summer), it's totally worth waiting.
  18. careful here. concepts are bs if you're sabotaging yourself or if you're seeking Truth. concepts are useful to live a healthy and happy life. a disciplined mind is a powerful tool.
  19. that's the typical story of every awaken (or in the path to awakening) person that i know. i just recommend that you be careful with the words that you tell yourself everyday. instead of calling people boring, as if the problem were them, i'd simply say that i'm no longer interested in such activities. as time passes by, you'll see some of them immersing in their own awakening experiences. it's a matter of time and everyone has their own rhythm. until then, you won't be able to connect with them through relationships, but it doesn't mean you can't love them. every human being is the face of god, and that's already beautiful enough.
  20. @Ika are you financially independent?
  21. what happened to you for you to realize that you were living a "boring life", as you call it today? did you think of yourself as a boring person back then or were you just trying your best to be happy? when i remember how i used to feel about life 5+ years ago, the first feeling that i remember is struggle. a LOT of struggle. i was trying to be happy and i didn't know how. i can't say that i was boring because that feels like lack of respect towards the fact that i was suffering. and for this reason, i find it disrespectful calling people boring or using any depreciating term towards those who suffer on the materialistic paradigm. that's why i'm pointing to the old version of you. investigate why you were the way you were and you'll understand others.
  22. @George Fil you talk about judgment and you call me "forum guru". very interesting, indeed. i am not saying that you are a shallow and egocentric person. i am saying that you sound shallow and egocentric when you complain about the superficiality of others. those are very different things. and it's not just you in particular. i have nothing against you. people do darken themselves when they start to throw out labels onto the world. why is that? because we, humans, can only talk about ourselves. so if i feel anger or any kind of anguish towards "people being materialistic", i am actually in conflict with the materialistic part of myself. if you can't forgive the old you, you won't be able to understand and help those stuck on the same toxic patterns as you were. and all you'll be able to do is complain and feel isolated. what the heck is an "advanced being", even? i am a human being, born from mother and father, built upon 26 years of deep ignorance and 4 years of some relief, who will die within 70~80 years. are you trying to become an "advanced being", whatever that means?
  23. when you talk like this you sound shallow and egocentric to me.
  24. i am here to dig deeper, since nobody else is playing the role of the grounding partner. how do you imagine the real thing happening? what exactly happens in classes and how will people feel motivated to take action and practice? this is not anywhere clear to me.
