  1. travel light. take rides. stay in hostels and work as waiter and janitor. make money with public juggling. about the visa, the guy traveled ilegally. but that's something you can do differently. luxury is bondage. simplicity is freedom.
  2. i started to hang out with all kinds of people. and observing how they lived their lives, i noticed that i created my own cage. i thought i needed material/sexual abundance to be happy, but i saw happy people living with just enough. i realized that i was too worried to make money and didn't know how to make good use of it. i met a clown who only had his juggling material and a few clothes. and he had travelled to many countries and met a LOT of different people. and i was was attached to useless crap and was experiencing a crappy life. my first yoga teacher used to work at google. she was fat, had horrible eating habits, smoked a lot and had weak muscles. then she threw it all away and went to india to perfect her body. this is it... i advanced from 2 to 3 by going out and actually meeting new people.
  3. i was addicted to pride, competition, consumerism, alcohol, weed, pornography, masturbation and porn-like sex my life exploded i understood that i was very ignorant i started to practice yoga i started to practice zen i drank ayahuasca a few times i left my parents to live the life of a monk enlightenment got back to society and started a master degree i met the woman of my life i started to drink ayahuasca periodically i got into agroforestry now i'm here
  4. the buddha taught about anatta. for instance, the diamond sutta is one piece of true beauty! i don't know what to say of my story. it's way too long to be written in a post.
  5. not in my case. i did not choose to take a leap of faith. i didn't even have the chance to make a choice. so faith never motivated me. my existential anguish and suffering did. hitting the bottom of hell was my highest gift.
  6. no. i'm using relativity (words and concepts) as an attempt to reach your comprehension. if you really want to quench your thirst, you gotta do the job yourself for Truth can't be spoken. remember: there's no ultimate authority. you cannot rely on anybody else's words. faith is HELPLESS. questioning is HELPLESS. when i try to explain It to you, i am deliberately failing.
  7. you're a result of everything that's happened until NOW. everything before THIS MOMENT is part of your past lives. all of those dead people are your past lives. along with enlightenment, comes the conscious responsibility for what i do NOW. because i am a past life of countless beings. this is why i am planting forests.
  8. holy moly i'm so grateful! thank you so much for these pointers! aquaponics look AMAZING. and wageningen has online courses. i had never heard of it. thank you again.
  9. beware. syntropic farming is something extremely new. if you want to learn how to deal with the soil healthily, you better not learn from universities. these popular institutions will indoctrinate you to practice devastating methods of farming, as they've been doing for centuries. this is why i posted about it here: Other Career Paths Than Studying? if you want to be integrated with the engine of Nature, you better learn from other sources. permaculture and agroforestry are the keywords here. self-teaching capabilities and willingness to practice are crucial aspects of the professional in this area.
  10. @Phillip this is where i'm moving towards. i wanna earn money by healing earth's soils while gathering (lots of) food.
  11. the phenomenom thought is part of Reality just like sound and light. they have no origin because Reality is a field of continuous impermanence so everything you name is actually a beginless/endless process of transformation rather than a "thing". ego is another "thing".
  12. because you're attached to some fucked up definition of winner.
  13. @Monkey-man there are those who have attained a mental comprehension about Truth and those who embody Truth. those who have attained a mental comprehension about Truth are ready to answer any question because they have learned to play with the words in order to look wise. they seem to know everything but it's still possible to sense struggle in them. those who embody Truth are on a completely different level. they feel oneness in their gut. they feel the suffering and the happiness of their brothers and sisters in their hearts. only those who embody Truth are capable of living accordingly to the words of jesus love your neighbor as yourself. they don't even obey jesus. that's just the way they live effortlessly.
  14. @Kallan daily practice: save a few minutes to be mindful of all of your attachments and let go of them.
  15. scientific laws are not undeniable truths. natural laws are. scientifc laws are a "poor" translation of Reality for the human experience. they are poor because they are not Reality and they will never be. and they are not poor because they're useful, practical (only!). and nobody should drop his intellect forever. our logical apparatus is WONDERFUL. just don't think that it's 100% reliable. it's even possible to have a mystical experience by dropping ALL beliefs and letting go of the intellectual pride. also, addressing what someone else said by "load of crap" is a very low attitude.
  16. i am a mathematician i'm not saying that those theorems/postulates/formulas/equations are false. i am saying that they are true only if you assume a certain set of primary axioms, which are true by definition, not because of some fundamental and undeniable truth. and about physics, no. sorry. no (competent) physicist has ever claimed to have found a single undeniable/fundamental truth. the experiments can confirm that a formula works under some circumstances, but it's impossible to prove that Reality has those very mathematical formulas running behind the curtains. formulas, theorems etc are merely models for reality. they don't describe any objective truth and every scientist knows this very well. we simply build models that work. and i know that they work pretty damn well. not only they work well but we're working hard to make they work even better as time passes by. this why i'm able to pay the bills every month
  17. this is the great ignorance. how can something that never even started have an end? what is it that dies? what is it that's perceiving these messages? what's it that's born? welcome to eternity (again).
  18. there's only one way, which is changing yourself completely and having a good and healthy life. only then you might become a source of inspiration. trying to change others directly is one of the most ignorant approaches ever.
  19. @Hemi Reality becomes conscious of Itself. if you think and elaborate too much, you're walking away from IT. when you perceive thoughts about enlightenment, let go of them if you want to experience IT instead of philosophizing. philosophizing won't take you very far.
  20. embracing the practice in new contexts. i always recommend finding a zen sangha and practicing with them at least once in a week. being part of a zen sangha is a powerful choice.
  21. this also points to some kind of addiction to suffering, don't you think?
  22. no. the 30 mins is great. start doing simple tasks like cleaning the floor and washing dishes while breathing mindfully. expand the practice throughout the day.
  23. very good. keep doing it. get used to this kind of experience. wonderful. you're achieving a better understanding of your own situation. try implementing a daily routine of shorter meditation sessions instead of doing huge and exhausting attempts. it's more effective and more efficient. you've been telling this "there is no hope" story to yourself for decades. anything that's said repeatedly over time feels more and more true as time goes by. so don't expect to purify yourself from this pattern too soon. it might take a while and awareness is the key. be aware of the thoughts but don't simply believe them as you've been doing for such a long time. meditate, walk, do your 5 pushups. what a winner already. meditate, walk, do your 5 pushups. what a winner already. meditate, walk, do your 5 pushups. what a winner already. meditate, walk, do your 5 pushups. what a winner already. do it.
  24. yes, Reality (the present moment) is the NOW with all of its complexity. a mystical and complex dance of immaterial sources of vibrations with light and sound bouncing everywhere and a miraculous filter to make experience stable (possible) and meaningful. you have unhealthy relationships with other people because you have an unhealthy relationship with solitude. since you haven't trained yourself to appreciate the mystical experience of the present moment, you become anxious, as if something terrible is about to happen all the time. try sitting down and exposing yourself to this "bad thing". wait for it to happen. why should you suffer when you're not doing anything? why should you suffer when all you're doing is just sitting? don't you have the right to sit down? does it make sense? learn the hard lesson of being alone first. "bad" thoughts arise, but you won't be able to assert their veracity. you won't be able to do so not because you're intellectually incapable, but because it's an impossible task. stop thinking that you need the approval of others to be happy and just be happy with the mystical experience of the present moment. when you learn to be content and steady with only what's happening right now, that's enlightenment. that's the full healing.
  25. if you really want to investigate what is True, you will run out of things to say. nothing is absolutely true. not even physics. not even mathematics, since mathematics are logical constructions made out of relative choices of humanly convenient axioms. you won't be feeling heavy and dense emotions for the rest of your life. you just need to be up to date with the present moment and stop accumulating emotional blockages. free the emotional blockages you have at the moment and enter in the flow of Life. you should then experience Reality as a balanced river which is not dry nor overflowing. the universe of human feelings, if experienced with order instead of chaos, is actually extraordinarily wonderful.
