  1. Is there any effective way to do research on personal development topics? Of course there are 'authorites' like Tony Robbins, Steve Pavlina or Leo from whom you can take good information, but what else can you do? Browsing the Internet, forums etc. randomly hoping to find good information isn't that effective IMO. I would be happy about any suggestions or personal preferences.
  2. Everybody talks about taking massive action regardless in which field of personal development. But nobody elaborates on how many hours per day they actually put in, how fast they work, how they organize it etc. I am also in particularly interested in how massive action takers experience this work, which emotions they feel, how intense they are, how often they feel like giving up, how far they push themselves despite of signs of fatigue, how long it takes until they get used to it etc. Examples of fields of personal development I am particularly interested in are studying, building a business, pick up/ socializing, nutrition, fitness Thanks in advance for any personal examples or resources!
  3. Do you have any recommendations on great courses, videos, articles or any other material about improving your posture? Or is anybody currently working on his/her posture and wants to share some tips or insights? I find posture a very important topic since it affects many different areas not only on the physical level but especially on the emotional and mental level like self-confidence, or in the intersection of these two, like stored repressed feelings in the form of chronic muscle tension. When you can free your body from restrictions, your mind also declutters.
  4. I won't add some things that you can do to improve your situation, @Man in the Mirror summed it up pretty well. But I would like to give you one advice that's crucial in your current situation, in my opinion. DON'T start enlighment work or any other advanced spiritual endeavor or get lost in notions like 'realize your true self is the empty awareness behind your thoughts/ emotions' as @Natasha suggests, before you get the basics of your life handled. And don't use it as a therapy for basic problems. It's just not gonna work. I tried it as I haven't had my basics handled like healthy eating, exercise, self-esteem, basic life structure etc. I thought I wanted to find truth, but used it simply as an evasion of reality, that my life sucked sh*t. I even fell into DPDR because of enlightment work and I am still working on recovering from it. Acknowledge where you are at in your personal development and act accordingly: You can't build a strong ( Maslow's ) pyramide without having a strong foundation.
  5. At which time of the day ( or night ) should one take supplements, with breakfast, lunch or dinner? I heard that for example Omega 3 is best absorbed when taking it late, with dinner or even later. Does this apply to other supplements as well? Thanks for your insights in advance!

  8. Hi everbody! I am pursuing an academic career as a researcher in the field of theoretical physics ( I'm currently working on my undergrad thesis ). I'm very passionate about enhancing our scientific understanding of nature to the point of a theory of everything, if such thing exists - I want to find out -, and that's the thing I would call my life purpose. In addition to that, I not only want to understand nature and life, but also experience all that it has to offer for human beings. So you might formulate my complete life purpose to "understanding and experiencing life". But here's the problem: Jobs at universities or other research institutes are mostly low-paid. Even the highest academic position, that of a professor, is not that much paid ( at least you can earn a lot more with a job at some big company or its research lab ). If you are really good, you may be supported by some sponsor or you work at sponsored institutes. But this all means being financial dependent on the good will of others and the overall economic situation. I thought about things that I can do in order to gain income from other sources than my job at university. Those have to be closely related to my scientific work, otherwise I would get distracted from my main commitment and probably waste time. I came up with being some sort of instructor for scientific or general logical thinking, like giving private lessons to students, what I am currently doing, but on a much higher level and for broader audience. I consider myself to have some uncommon approaches that really help people to understand maths and physics at a high level. That would be one option. Can you think of others? I would really appreciate some ideas and suggestions from you how to be financial independent while being on a academic career. Many thanks in advance! Best wishes, Arnie

You're right, from a mathematician's point of view, mathematics gets raped hard in physics, as my fellow students and I use to call it ; D Physicists use to first calculate and use theorems and then bother about the limitations of the things they just used.   10. Of course simply thinking of something you want is not going to get you it. Only if you do the work required you will eventually get it. And that's the point at which all inner game techniques like the LoA come in. They are designed to increase the probability that you do the work or just start to do the work. For example, you think of all the pleasures you get from achieving your goal, and that should motivate you to do the work, so that you eventually actually enjoy these pleasures, when you have reached your goal. But! In my experience things like LoA or affirmations can mislead you, they can make you think, you already really accomplished it. Consequently you are actually less willing to work! I think there was an experiment where the conducters told the members of one group to think, they already reached their optimal weight and the others should do something else or nothing, I don't remember it. Turns out, that the members who used those techniques actually ate more of the cookies or sweets they were offered afterwards than the others.
  11. I am a physics undergrad, too ( Germany ). I started to work on my undergraduate thesis a couple of days ago. It's about the fermion sign-problem of the Monte-Carlo-Simulation of the tight-binding model of graphene ( theoretical physics ). I am using personal development in many areas of my life, but especially in my aspiration to become a researcher in the field of grand unified theories and theories of everything like string theory and others. I like to examine how good the human mind can grasp the structure of reality.
  12. First we should define what the scientific method is before talking about it and judging it. Aren't even the methods to achieve enlightment scientific, as you look what's out there in reality? The only difference I can think of is the letting go of the objectivity criterion in spirituality. Regarding the quote of Neil Tyson, I wouldn't say science is true, but the knowledge gained through the scientific method is. By knowledge I don't mean the colorful models scientists make up to make their findings conceivable to human minds, but the mechanics of reality they discovered behind them. One thing is for sure: Science works, because it can be used to manipulate reality ( technology, medicine etc. ). Is there a better proof? "It works, bitches" - Richard Dawkins : D I have to admit as a student of physics that there is Ego-protection involved in my writing so far. But one thing I am genuinly interested in. Leo often says that enlightened people don't care about science because they already know the ultimate truth. But saying so they would dismiss the existence of some structural nature of reality, as physics exposes. How do you reconcile nothingness as ultimate existential nature of reality with the existence of a structure, like forces and energy/matter???
  13. Leo, most of your work is there to tell us what to do in order to be successful in any way we want. One can also say it covers the "to-do"-list of personal development for the most part. But what's about the inversion: a "not-to-do"-list. You already gave some advice of this kind in your video "Advice for high-school & college students", for example don't drink alcohol, no debt, no wheat products, cutting hard on video games. I would be very interested in a video where you cover all the things we should not do, regarding any topic there is. One could also approach this in a way where you present a role model of failure so to speak. Of course there are obvious ones like laziness, victim thinking, cowardness, bad diet, destructive habits. But there are also very subtle ones and things many people might not have thought about. It would also provide a different perspective on personal development. I would really aprecciate such a video.
