  1. there have been cases of people being able to fix their spine and gain few cm by doing all sorts of stretching exercises and yoga so that is actually possible. Also some people experience delayed growth and influx of growth hormone later in life so that may also be the case.
  2. This is going to be a bit of a rant but academic papers are just paraphrasing of other people's words, that's what it is in a nutshell. You cannot copy the exact meaning and if do, you have to post a reference. Otherwise, they will go after you and crucify you, burn the cross, pee on your ashes and demonise you all over the media and news, especially if they find ou after you have graduated. Not referencing idea is equal to homicide in the academic world. Even if you paraphrase you still have to post a reference. While it is very tempting to do, I would be careful with adding too much of your own content (beliefs, experience etc...) academia does not give a rat's ass about that....only in a conclusion section where you are supposed to summarise in your own words. Or to comment on the research that you yourself have made and that is original to you. I don't have much advice as to what anti-plagiator software or any of that but just make sure never to copy the exact sentences from whatever you are referencing. Academic paper is not supposed to be creative, original, funny, or entertaining. It is a boring, dogmatic and extremely creativity restricting format that has to be suffered through if one wants to successfuly pass.
  3. Same here ! This gal knows her stuff
  4. It is definitely not too late, I've signed for 3 year postgraduate study (completely different from my major) at 28, having finished the uni nearly 5 years ago. Once you graduate you will have probably next 40-50 years to work in the industry of your choosing so 3 extra years is a small investment imo. The difference in career satisfaction and overall happiness between working a boring job you took to pay your bills and a work that is meaningful and inspiring to you will make a difference in every area of your life. Just be absolutely certain that this is something you want to do.
  5. What do you value in life? Do you have a life purpose? It will be helpful to have this before you go out there and learn bunch of skills because they are trendy and valued in the society. The chances are they will be useless to you in pursuit of your mastery.
  6. Great post! Been struggling with the differentiating between the two a bit myself sometimes, this pretty much sums it all up, nice and clear.
  7. Maybe she was thinking something along these lines: Hey Marge look, that guys is wearing that jacket you wanted to buy? Hey, look at this cute guy sitting next to me? (sends picture to friend) Did I use my lipstick correctly? (checks herself in selfie camera) The light is really bad for selfie, let me rotate myself this way so that sun is not reflected on the camera hey look (sends photo to friend) this guy looks like Mark (another friend)
  8. sending your photo to random people on the forum asking for validation won't be much help either.
  9. Hey guys, I'd like to ask for an advice here. I am currently working for one of Furtune 500 companies, in a nutshell: low consciousness environment surrounded by people whose highest values are money, sex, attractiveness, achievement and power. While I know what my true purpose is and have been taking steps towards being able to transition, I'll need at least 2-3 more years before having enough knowlege and experience (and certification) to be able to get out there. In the mean time I feel like my souls is being drained here, having to compile shitty reports, being on pointless calls and wasting time. Yes, I know I need to be more loving, compassionate and less judgemental towards myself and other and I keep working on that. I do keep practicing meditation and doing my best to accept my current position and yes I know that nothing matters because none of this is real and I am not real. For those of you who might be stuck n similar position, how do you deal with it? How do you go around your days without getting disgusted all the time?
  10. Thanks a lot for all your advices folks ! Great suggestions and comments and this is exactly the grouding I needed to get.
  11. @Psyche_92 There are definitely low-consciousness jobs out there. Some more than other. .....but then I guess from the absolute perspective nothing is higher or lower consciousness everything just IS....I am just not on that level to be able to see that yet. Yeah man, this makes a lot of sense, I think I needed to hear something like that. Haha, yeah you are right I guess thanks for all your comments man, this is very helpful !! @EquanimitizeI agree with this but you can't just go around trying to be leader if you have nothing to share with the world. Anyone can talk shit but not everyone will be listened to.....In my opinion there needs to be some time spent acquiring that which is to be shared and only can one go around doing what you wrote...and person's circumstances and environment play a huge part into it..but than as @Psyche_92 said above, I am just full of shit and all this is just a projection of the mind and circumstances so everything is eventually pointless. @tsukiknow man...I spoke to a life coach about this (among other things) some time ago and they pointed out the exact thing. "be fucking patient and stop being so attached to an outcome" judging and comparing myself to others are probably 2 most vicious demons I have created for myself in my life that make up for most of the pointless suffering. @aurum thanks man, this is very helpful @Wasem that's how I currently see it, however, I still struggle with acceptance of this situation which is why ( as Aurum said) I am looking for a quick fix or some technique but there is none ....so I'm getting my ass back to the salt mine !! @Bryan Lettner the exact rigid statement is: “Studying health and nutrition to help people live longer, better and to thrive in life." it is constantly forming but the idea is to remain in the natural healing / lifestyle medicine way
  12. @Charlotte the ego doesn't like to admit that it doesn't know a conscious question to an unconscious individual will always lead to raising "shields and spears" or running away.
  13. @Charlotte (in my opinion) it is the fear of pain, whether this is physical or psychological. Doing any kind of work is painful and we like to stay comfortable in the status quo so that out survival is not threatened. Exercise is a great example because the stress we put on the body is perceived as a threat to survival so of course there is natural response to resist. Call that "being fucked by the evolution" same way we are all horny chimps constantly looking for stimulation and validation
  14. well, generally when people are being pushed to do something they don't really want, they tend to start resisting it. The less concious the person is the more resistance there is because the ego feels like it has to defend itself even if the advice could be beneficial. Imagine yourself couple years back before you started doing a conciousness work, somebody would come to you and tell you that this (self-actualisation) is a key to many of your problems and it sarts with you having to meditate for 30 minutes every day..most likely you would do everything possible not to do what they tell you. no, I am full of shit but like to spread the shit all over the forum just like many other members
  15. it's actually emphasized quite a lot in the Health section of this forum, bet there must have been 100 different topics on exercise opened at some stage nobody can push anyone to move their lazy asses unless they want to otherwise you will create a massive aversion towards it. There is also the component of habit. I was very lucky in my early youth to have been pushed towards sports by my parents since 5 and it comes very easy and natural today with very little resistance. Many people haven't been pushed to it and they struggle terribly with every single session. It is not their fault and it doesn't mean they are lazy, it just takes a long time to build this habit in later age and there is a lot of resistance.
  16. congrats bud, great result !
  17. No personal experience here but from browsing the article, I'd say that just by being able to bring the family together and actually have them TALK as in COMMUNICATE AND LISTEN what most families absolutely cannot do, there is a lot of potential for dealing with familial issues. Can't speak for all the "rituals" surrounding the event though. Having a mediator that has no involvement and picks no side may shed a lot of light into skeletons in the closet that have been ignored for a long time by family interventions.
  18. definitely a huge contributor but also the environment plays a big role: pollution, toxins, heavy metals in food, water sources, sulfites, nitrates, PCBs, PAHs, plastic packaging, heat processing and free radicals. But also emotions, lying , manipulation, suppression of feelings and anger, lack of intimacy and honesty with self and others. Lack of purpose and self realisation...all these play into modern diseases but not all can be tested for hence while depressions are so hard to diagnose because there is not always the anathomical component.
  19. @Eyal Bor ofcourse there is no need to pay anyone and there is no guarantee that a detox will help you but if it was me that would be the first thing I'd try on the other hand you may perhaps want to wait for spring or summer to do that as generally in winter (depends where you live) we tend to eat more hot, cooked (yang) foods to balance the yin of the cold weather. Never tried apple detox but maybe someone online has. Seems like a fine idea to do a monofruit fast for couple days, that alone might help I know people have benefited from grapejuice fast but again, that is prob better left for spring and summer. My longest was only 48 hours, never tried one of the super long ones, I know some people on this forum have. You may try looking up one of Dr Morse's videos on acne, he probably has it mentioned in several of them. He is the god of healing and detoxification in my opinion and if I was ever diagnosed with something or had some skin issues, I'd probably go down their route.
  20. @Strikr expecting the life to keep providing you with freebies might bite you in the ass in a very nasty way one day buddy. Most people don't buy into this thinking and down the road you may get into a lot of conflicts with people
  21. Your body probably needs a systemic detoxification. Think lymphatic system + kidneys , gall bladder + liver, lungs and colon. Your main elimination pathways. Topical creams and oils won't do shit in long term as acne is NOT a skin disease it is body getting rid of toxins through skin because other elimination systems are not working properly. However there might also be an emotional component so I'd say continuing your spiritual practice will dfinitely not make it worse Consider finding a Naturopath in your area, ask him to do an Iridology examination for you to identify organ weaknesses and blocked elimination pathways and work on those with detox program and some herbs, you will definitely benefit if they know what they are doing. Things you can already start doing and that are safe. Saunas (unless you are asthmatic) helps with detoxification through skin and opens pores. dry skin brushing (moves lymph) hot-cold showers - promote circulation Cardio exercise to help your body sweat and move the lymphatic system. fasting for 24 hours once a week Make sure to be aware of Herring's law of cure (look this up online) which means that basically before things get better they will get worse and that detox always starts from heads towards bottom, from latest symptoms to the oldest and from inside out. Please DO NOT start any mayor detoxification protocol (excluding those mentioned above) before first consulting a specialist as you may do yourself more harm than good.
  22. Never heard about salt pills but generally electrolytes are extremely important to help the water enter the cellular membrane. They act as a "door keeper" if you will. Otherwise all the water will come out. Sodium and Potassium are extremely important for this. If you burning a lot of energy, your body will produce less urine because a lot more water is required by cells. There are probably some electrolyte powders you can buy or gels just make sure they are free from sweeteners like aspartame, that shit is not good for you. Into your race drink (the one you carry on bike), consider adding some himalayan salt (1/4 teaspoon should do) with some honey (quickly accessible fructose), lemon, a little bit of olive oil (neuron conduction) and some potassium powder as you will lose a lot of it in sweat but don't go overboard because it will dehydrate you. Also a smoothie made of fruits before the race should provide you with enough liquids and electrolytes and to prevent excessive peeing. You may also want to consider bumping up on vitamins B1, B3 and B5 and magnesium (up to 400mg) as they take part in Glycolysis/Kreb's Cycle which is your energy production powerhouse so getting a giant salad the evening before could be a sound idea or having some multivitamin powder maybe? At the same time, if you are performing , your body tends to "switch of" temporarily the need to pee when it is in the sympathetic dominance. (fight or flight) so maybe you won't even feel the need. + additional tip, a beetroot has been shown to improve your heart's oxygen conservation ability so adding couple hands into te pre-race smoothie may not be a bad idea. A bit more than you asked for but hopefully something in here will be of any help, good luck let us know how it went.
  23. cmon guys let's cut this shit this conversation should probably be locked, nobody is benefiting anymore.
  24. Possibly... there are not any studies as they would be unethical so just because someone says "no studies" doesn't mean it is not the case.
