  1. @Deepak sadhwani tempting conclusion but when you break it down: 1. all subjects were obese assuming coming from typical junk diet , any controlled protocol will make you lose weight. Once anyone stops eating junk their lipid profile and blood sugar will absolutely improve. Vegan diet, paleo diet and carnivore diet designed in an experimental setting would produce this 2. everyone was taking high-strength multi formula + siberian ginseng (why would they need an adaptogen?) 3. This was a therapeutic-keto diet, meaning this was designed by a dietitian, this included lots of nuts, seeds, healthy plant fats and fish. Even greens, and low GI salads...this is the "good keto". Most people I know that follow "bad keto" eat a lot of fried meat meat and burgers, no fruits, no vegetables, no fish and no legumes. They never make it into ketosis because they keep eating carbohydrates and just end up riding insulin. This is what I mean by metabolic disaster. 4. the study was 24 weeks long which is 6 month. Long terms is 15 years. There are currently no systematic reviews of ketogenic diets because all the older studies only focus on epilepsy. This is my main concern with keto, yes it works in shorter term because it eliminates a lot of junk but where is the evidence between ketogenic diet not accelerating atherosclerosis in 20 years...we just don't have that data. The long-terms studies we have on saturated fats are not as gentle and there is some significant correlation starting to come up once you stop reading individual studies but start focusing on systemic reviews and meta-analysis which pool all available studies. 5. serum glucose is not a reliable marker of long term blood sugar balance. Once you stop eating carbohydrates your insulin naturally declines because it is simply not needed anymore since liver is now making the ketones with help of glucagon and cortisol. You need to use HOMOiR and HbA1c for long-term information on glucose management which they didn't. Some of the data we have (unfortunately only on rats) shows that high fat diets completely dysregulate insulin sensitivity and once glucose was reintroduced they could not mount sufficient insulin response. I believe that it works well for you, it does for a lot of people because they eliminated gluten and lots of problematic foods which may have as well stopped their autoimmunity. Hope you can make it work in the long term EDIT + high fat diet are horrible for your prostate as a guy. Menwith the highest consumption of fats (Over 40% calori intake I think) have drastically increased risk of their prostate growing earlier and more rapidly
  2. Thank you for sharing your story, this is very encouraging! Have you done anything in terms of your lifestyle & diet that you think was helpful as well>
  3. All types of fats are somewhat important. We need omega 3s, omega 6s, some saturated fats and some monounsaturated fats. The high-fat diet have only been around for a short time and we do not have the long-term data on what they do. The ketogenic diet is an elimination diet designed to mask symptoms of ongoing issues such as insulin resistance. Keto can help people with schizophrenia but that doesn't mean it is a healing diet. If someone eats carbohydrates and crashes completely while feeling fine on keto there is an underlying issue that has not been addressed. Keto diets work fine in short terms but eating so much animal protein and saturated fats will become a metabolic disaster.
  4. eh...wasn't aluminium use linked to breast cancer risk? I think it has never been confirmed but for some reason most of the tumours are in the area closes to the armpit. I assume OP is a guy but heavy metal application in regions with high lymphatic activity is unlikely to be the right solution.
  5. @herghly if you want to learn more about toxic sources and how to protect yourself consider purchasing Joe Pizzorno's book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toxin-Solution-Products-Destroying-Health/dp/0062427466/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=toxin+solution&qid=1588853309&sr=8-1 the guy is one of the leading naturopathic authorities merging the scientific and natural approach. His books on natural therapy are just brilliant.
  6. Yes, the long term addiction is definitely a concern. This is same when people take antidepressants that work on serotonin reuptake inhibition. They work but once you cut them, you can expect severe withdrawal. If you are looking for natural dopamine spikes first of all look into your lifestyle. Cut out all garbage processed sugary foods. I know for students it is not easy due to limited budget and time but see what you can do to cook your own meals. Eat a variety of plant-based foods including fruits vegetables and legumes to make sure your body has enough building blocks to be able to create all neurotransmitters it needs. Nutrient deficiencies can create neurotransmitter bottleneck where your body can't produce as much as it needs and this shows in mood changes, anxieties and lack of effortless attention. A lot of processed foods (pizzas, biscuits, deliveries etc) have chemicals such as msg in a theme that act on your dopamine receptors and your glutamate receptors basically giving you pleasurable stimulation. Cutting out Instagram, video games and video binging to detox your mind will definitely help. More reading and less watching. Exercise is a natural stimulator of endorphins and dopamine in a healthy way. So it exposure to sunshine. If you need to work on your concentration, consider activities that get you in the flow and that naturally absorb your attention effortlessly such as: meditation, practising tai-chi, taking martial art classes, doing something like painting, drawing, dancing, conducting music, pottery, photography, musical instrument, stargazing, birdwatching, treahugging whatever seems to be the right thing for you. Don't rely on chemical alteration, that's gonna backfire on your really bad. Nofap may also help to resist neurotic desire to masturbate when one is bored or stressed. If you want any herbal alternatives, green tea and tulsi are a nice combinations, some adaptogens may also be helpful.
  7. yeeeeah....no I'm gonna spice up the legumes and chickpeas instead haha
  8. @Hansu I think at 3-6 per week you could start getting overboard, 2-3 seems about right, but do some research on the frequency and see what's best Ideally you should go for the tiny fish predominantly like sardines and eat them with bones to get a good supply of calcium and glycine. Eat them with a lot of vegetables and legumes to speed up colonic transit and reduce mercury absorption. Add to that a tablespoon of flax oil (non-fried) to get your EFAs covered.
  9. @Hansu with fish it is important to avoid the large carnivorous fish including tuna, octopuses sharks. Small fish like sardines, anchovies mackerel and salmon have relatively low mercury load because they don't eat other fish and their lifespan is shorter. These 4 also have a high Omega 3 proportion. I think I'd also avoid the bottom-dwellers (shrimps, shells etc) because all the sediment and pollution often sits on the bottom of the sea/ocean although many people eat them for their high zinc content. But fish is not a necessity and can be replaced by eating flaxseeds every day (for ALA) and adding an algae oil to get enough EPA and DHA
  10. Chewing gums seems to have a somewhat stimulating effect on digestion which can be good or bad depending on the perspective. For conserving energy and longevity, you want as little insulin spikes throughout your day as possible. For people who have poor digestion, chewing 15 mins before food can help start their digestive juices flowing. Chewing on parsley od dandelion leaf can do that as well. Regarding teeth, cleansing, it could work by mechanically picking bits of food from areas between your teeth and maybe cleanse the roots of your teeth from plaque deposition. But not sure.
  11. Its a dopamine reuptake inhibitor so helps with steady focus and steady attention...same as heroin just milder and less toxic. That in itself raises a potential red flag of severe withdrawal once you stop taking it...but doesn't have to, Adderal does. Also you need to be careful if you take other supplements or drugs these things contraindicated with many things. Have you been diagnosed with ADHD?
  12. I think there is a bit too much stimulation from some of those but if you lead aa cognitively demanding lifestyle guess that's ok. Adrafinil is a stimulant of adrenergic receptors, basically nervous system glutamate stimulant that will keep your smooth muscles locked and tense. Caffeine is also glutamate stimulant of the central nervous system where L-theanine is more GABA stimulant (calming) so there is a bit of "thug-of-war" going on. I am surprised why they still put caffeine and L-theanine in single pill where they work on opposing receptors And then the micosupplement is an immunostimulant. Kinda like putting your immune system on steroids. I am not convinced a healthy person needs to do that. Don't get me wrong mushrooms are absolutely brilliant for healing some diseases but not sure I'd take them just for the sake of it. Also unless they were grown on specific trees like birch but only grown on wheat in warehouse, they will just become expensive carbohydrates so that's something to check with the manufacturer. Sorry, not being a hater just an opinion I'd keep the nootropics when you need them the most and keep the mushroom if you get sick but daily stimulation could potentially lead to chronic fatigue.
  13. No tips just came here to say good luck with your gains mate! You already know what to do
  14. only 15% of people DO NOT have MTHFR polymorphism (mild to moderate mutation) of some sort. It is extremely common. That being said you could be something called "heterozygous" where you would have inherited a slight default gene from both parents which would disrupt your methylation cycle and could lead to: 1. deficient production of dopamine, serotonine and adrenaline 2. homocysteine buildup (this can be tested) But before you go testing yourself ensure that your dietary intake of B12 , folate and B6 is fine. Also ensuring a good intake of essential amino acid and zinc is essential. Alternatively, you could try a B-complex that includes: B12 as methylcobalamin, B6 as Pyridoxal-5-phosphate and B9 as 5-methyltetrahydrofoltate. Usually these things are called something in terms "methylated B complex"
  15. Dawn Blanton in his book Radical Honesty says that the only way to get out of this is through complete honesty to each other. You have to reserve time and both need to be openminded enough to tolerate the discomfort. Now you take turns and each side tells the other what they resent them for. Get it all out and into his face. Look into his eyes and he has to look into yours. Same for him. It is essential that you guys maintain eye contact and that neither party gets interrupted. This will be uncomfortable and this will be painful but resentment is the worst kind of toxic poison that kills marriages and causes disease. It is important that you thank each other for absolute honesty and stray away from any judgement, mockery and so on. You need a pristine and clear environment otherwise this will not work. It is ok to cry and it is ok to yell. If you need to and if you feel he is not listening yell into his face: I RESENT YOU FOR LEAVING ALL HOUSEDUTIES TO ME!!! yell again and louder. He has to listen. When his time comes he has to be allowed to yell as well. No physical touching allowed. Once you both have taken your time to share everything, both parties get some time to process the information. Maybe both go into different rooms for few hours, maybe even sleep separately that night. Next day meet again this time you will say things you like about each other. Exhaust everything you can think of. There is no time limit. Think back to times when you guys started dating. What were the things that got you together, what did you love him for and he you. Once you have exhausted lists, leave it again and come back next day. Now work on how either of you can implement or work on the points the other party resents them for. Some things may take longer such as "I resent you for not caring that you have become obese"...that will need time. It is important that you guys know what the other party is concerned about. And lastly, it is important that you re-establish intimacy. Get some scented candles, some nice essential oil for massage, maybe get some kinky clothing and a new toy and reignite a spark into your sex life as I assume that with so much resentment there has not bee a lot of it. If you guys don't work this of and you keep building walls, your child will end up with divorced parents which is an awful example to a growing baby who needs both male and female role models. Good luck !! let us know how it went
  16. @LfcCharlie4 lots of questions I don't have answers to yet my mate Yeah I think I've pinpointed my avatar to male, busy, overwhelmed, sedentary, unhealthy diet, insulin resistance, bad lipid profile, pre-diabetic. Seems like that's the majority of guys around me in the corporate type of environment, The consult mostly 121 but also would like to try doing corporate events and create few video programmes on particular conditions that men deal with these days. Want to create a package-based system of 2-3 different packages that vary in types of service and pricing such as basic, gold and platinum?? No idea about hourly rates, nutritionists in UK charge between 80-250 per hour. Yeah, I've considered Youtube but not sure I'll do that. I'm a bit too self-conscious for that. Doesn't feel like the right thing, same as Instagram I can't get over how fake it seems. Offering free stuff and will be part of it for sure. Don't think anybody will want to pay for the newsletter, most people see it as spam unless it is rare and very relevant I guess.
  17. Any tips on books that can help promote a conscious business? I don't want anything that teaches you how to exploit a client's lo-consciousness desire but a genuine guide on how to be found and how to relate to the customer. I read Building your Storybrand by Don Miller and loved that. Looking for something of a similar nature. Thanks
  18. @Raptorsin7 thanks mate!
  19. @LfcCharlie4 on green tea or herbs overal? There is a lot to tell on those topics
  20. @LfcCharlie4 basically nutritional therapy setting with seeing clients. I am still defining my avatar and targeted market but it will most likely be men 30-60s at the onset of metabolic disease (the usual inc: stress, bad diet, alcohol, lot of sitting etc) but not definite yet. So I'm looking into how to become "found" on the market, how to communicate and what are the things I need to learn cause at this stage I don't know what I don't know...if that makes sense Hard to define revenue but at the start it is a success if you make over £2K a month. At the moment I am still in school so just starting to figure this out.
  21. Maybe this is psychological as you said. When I finished the LP course 3.5 years ago, I had a 3 month period where I was constantly anxious because I knew what I should so but I didn't know where to start. Felt a bit trapped because for the first time I realised how much a wage slave I've become.....maybe you are in a similar position. Life Coaching could help you move forwards, it did for me. Also finding stress coping mechanisms as everybody already mentioned. Also, make sure to get direct daily light exposure as soon as you wake up. This sets your circadian rhythm and allows your hormonal secretion to adjust. Ensure you will get an exposure to sun around mid-day as well. Turn off any blue lights and bright lights 2 hours before bedtime this includes phones, tv and PC. For the last 60 minutes before bed, you can light a lamp with warm (bulb) light or a candle and just keep enough light to avoid bumping into a wall. If you can find a tea containing Levander, it may help. Valerian you mentioned may help as well but it depends on what form you take and if tincture, what ratio, some suppliers sell garbage tinctures with a ratio such as 20:1 which is pretty much just alcohol. Chamomile tea is pretty good too. Also careful with late-night eating, basically we should start reducing our food intake with the dying light. . . . But all of this will go out of the window if you are perpetually in a state of hyperdrive and that needs to be addressed first.
  22. ever been checked for the hyperactive thyroid gland and/or Grave's disease?
  23. @LfcCharlie4 I don't recall the numbers Chris Masterjohn recommends but anywhere up to 50mg is perfectly safe taken before sleep. Just don't use zinc picolinate or oxide. Pumpkin seeds, nuts and all legumes are pretty good sources. There is also phytic acid in legumes so soaking and cooking properly seems to help. But as always, food comes before supplementation although in current pandemic, having a bit of help can be helpful I take 22mg of zinc citrate from Lamberts few times a week. Allergy Research also have a good, I think 30mg Zinc Citrate. Most whole unprocessed foods have a degree of them. Wholegrains are very rich as well. So are nuts and green vegetables I think. Healthline will probably have an article on best sources. I think that's just a British genome You guys burn fast because historically this region has always had lack of direct sunlight. Nature never intended to give you TAN to make you more attractive, it was always your skin protecting itself from oxidative damage. The looks are just the bonus. With light skin you absorb more UvB for vitamin D production and overall need less time daily to get the proper dose. At the same time, you will get more damage from burning than people with darker skin tones so take care with that . Btw people who booze sunburn quicker than those who don't but this damage was somewhat mediated by drinking berries smoothie before sunbathing and boozing. I recall reading a paper on this some time ago. You can get one of those small bottles like they serve in Pret and fill it with some ultra berry thick smoothie from a bag of blended blueberries before you go. Than just hide it in jacket and drink it in the middle on the night on the loo so that you don't get the "weirdo" looks from your mates. Can help to negate some of the damage. I think going fully raw every once in a while for few days can be helpful. But if you are a good vegan your liver is already likely to be less taxed overall as long as you are not missing any important nutrients.
  24. @LfcCharlie4 The interesting thing with alcohol is that the more you drink the "better" your body becomes in metabolising. By "better" I mean the liver upregulated the production of Alcohol Dehydrogenase and Aldehyde Dehydrogenase, two enzymes that are breaking it down into Acetaldehyde and Acetate. This is to protect from cellular damage alcohol does. The same thing happens if you become a regular user of the heroine. Some things you can do to improve your detoxification pathways if you are going to indulge (btw you got the basics pretty much covered above) start easy, let your body upregulate the two enzymes first. Your first night out should be a bit easy. Going all in may overload your liver's capacity and give you pretty nasty hangover optimise your zinc status, zinc is a cofactor for both alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase. So maybe load on some zinc or make sure you eat zinc rich foods regularly. up all your B-vitamins as you'll be peeing them out during hangover. Liver also burns through them quickly when there is a lot of ethyl alcohol present. ensure your elimination is smooth with 3 bowel movements and at least 6-8 urinations so that all metabolites are getting out and nothing is reabsorbed. boost your chain-breaking antioxidant status. This means fruits, veg, legumes, greens. You can load on fruits and black grapes (resveratrol) before your night of drinking to supply the body with the protection it needs. I wouldn't necessarily rely on the antioxidant supplement, those things are pretty dangerous and harmful imo drinking 300ml of pure water between each pint/shot and loading on another half-liter after you come back foods that specifically support one or more of the 3 phases of liver detoxification: broccoli (broccoli sprouts ar more potent), lemons, apples, asparagus, beet, mung bean sprouts, dandelion, nettle, parsley, coriander, milk thistle (tea is preferable to milk thistle supplement or tincture), resveratrol from red grapes, If you drink, don't drink on open sun and DONT get burned. This will require your glutathione to be spread apart to remove burned cells and take away essential antioxidants from liver. Some people also have genetic snips in genes coding for certain antioxidants (SOD2 in my case for example) for them this kinda of cellular damage would be pretty nasty. Also don't eat fried and barbecued food on your night out (I know this isn't easy when you are in the mood :D) again, stealing NADPH from liver. if you want to take this a bit further, remain on 100% raw vegan diet for 24-48 hours post hangover to minimise load on the liver by removing all animal protein. So to summarise it if you drink don't eat junk, don't get burned, drink a lot and eat mostly fruits and vegetables afterwards
  25. @LfcCharlie4 I didn't read any previous comments so not bashing on anybody's choices OP was asking if alcohol is bad, well, unfortunately, any amount is bad but I agree that is is a part of social gathering so one needs to be cautious with the amounts drank. No alcohol is the only safe amount thou. Anything else is just unnecessary stealing antioxidants that could be used to repair DNA
