I'm not sure if this would work but if I was in such a situation I think i would try bring awareness to that person of how unhealthy and toxic his behavior is towards you and hopefully he would heal and regain some sense. But that implies you have enough awareness yourself to see through unhealthy aspects of that behavior and are able to communicate it through. And the guy is not a hopeless case. Otherwise just block it. Yea, probably I'd just block it.

Also it's a question of how aware you are. If you’re very self-aware it's very easy to be honest. Otherwise you can be full of bs and not even know it. No awareness = no chance to be honest because ego has many layers where it is dishonest about that we are unaware of. And there's usually a dozen of defense mechanisms around those dishonest parts. So it's hard to get through often. Without deep self-awareness there's no way.
