  1. @Serotoninluv What I meant with the first part was not that I change my opinion however I want rather that in the past it has happened to me that I changed my mind about something crucial for me and it hit me right in heart, then again and again and I started to realize that the reactions were not at all "appropriate" and every time it hurt a little less and then I knew I dont have to fear it anymore.
  2. @Serotoninluv Thanks for the input, I was asking mainly because I was wondering if I am myself transcending stage Green or not.. I think the best cure to holding positions and feeling they are part of you is to change your mind a lot of times about something important for oneself, then one has to realize that it is stupid to hold the positions so dearly because they don't really matter that much and did not make the stuff that is you.
  3. @Inliytened1 I certainly did not experience what you did, basically I am just trying to discern two things, mythical experience and quantum mechanics which I think are still two quite different things. While quantum physics does shine some light onto the physicality of objects and how they work on fundamental and below microscopic level I think your experience shares some analogies with quantum phenomena but that is all. Quantum physics is important only on small scale not in your normal day life. When you say you collapse back from possibility into pure potential like a wave function I think you are mixing two things that don't have anything to do with each other. First of all, you are not a wave function, second of all what is "pure potential" and finally why don't we change the analogy to something like collapsing star or whatever else. Needless to say, physicists know that quantum physics is wrong, that it does not explain all of nature and that is something you should keep in mind when comparing your experience with it.
  4. @Inliytened1 I don't think the technicalities change the point I was trying to make... the speed of the particle is still going to be in bounds, because the particle won't be faster than light for example. Of course you can get some certainty of position and some certainty of velocity, that still holds and goes directly from Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. Also I think there is a huge difference between Hilbert space having infinite dimensions, which is not guaranteed, and actual physical space having infinite dimensions (which it does not have, I think). No I am not a physicist.
  5. @Serotoninluv How would you say one discerns between somebody starting debate/conversation on orange or yellow level? What would be the immediate difference that you would spot?
  6. @Angelo John Gage Perhaps when you talk about IQ and such you are underestimating how much effect their background has. Not just who their parents are but if they grew in rich country and so on. Actually people who come from 3rd world countries to 1st world and get properly integrated into the society do get similar to the locals, they also have less children and so on.. I think green perspective is to call for open borders while yellow perspective is to help those people in complex way, integrate them, teach them your language and show them what it is like to live in a 1st world country. You can not do this with so many people at once of course but if you help them you will benefit too.
  7. @Inliytened1 I am sorry, I would like to discuss this further more but I do not see why over personal messages, maybe you can try to explain why and then I will consider it, I would actually like other people to also benefit from this discussion which will be only possible if it is public. @possibilities I will see where this goes
  8. @Inliytened1 Well that is just not true. According to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle you do have some uncertainty but that does not mean that you can get any possibility or any velocity or any position.
  9. @Inliytened1 What does infinite probability mean?
  10. @Inliytened1 But what does quantum physics has to do with reality being mystical? Also those are two completely different things -- you realizing that reality is mystical, whatever that means, and quantum mechanics being explanation for some things but still being wrong about other, like gravity. Also my other questions which had gone without remark.
  11. @Inliytened1 The analogy still holds you are talking about pinpointing position and velocity of matter I am talking about pinpointing which side the dice will land on and both is impossible. I am still wondering why you asked me about Heisenberg uncertainty principle. The reason for you to study the math would be to understand it deeply and from "first hand experience". I don't understand how it debunks materialism, the fact that the desk I am sitting in front of is just a collection of quantum stuff does not change the fact that it is solid thing which is for practical purposes operating just as well under normal mechanics.
  12. Ok, well I have to say I highly doubt this, I will give you an example: I will take a dice and throw it.. before it falls down, noone knows what side it will land on but you can pretty easily say that there is 1/6 probability for any side, does the fact that you do not know what side it will land make the calculation or the probability meaningless or make it no exist as you say? No, and this is such a simple example that I don't think that logical positivists thought like that. If I cite Wikipedia: Which is very different from what you wrote about logical positivism. So for logical positivist, the information that any of the six sides has the same probability is still meaningful even though logical positivist does not know which one it will be with 100% certainty. What are the ramifications of quantum mechanics then that the physicists miss?
  13. @Inliytened1 I am wondering why did you ask me about Heisenberg's uncertainty principle and I am also wondering if you have any comments to what I wrote earlier, justifying the original quantum mechanical question. Considering logical positivism, while I am not totally sure what the philosophy entails and I only work with what I read quickly on Wikipedia, I am not logical positivist because I believe there can be some value to statements that are not based on logic while I do think that logic is import and crucial to this discussion.
  14. @Inliytened1 While it has nothing to do with what I wrote there.. yes I actually do deny it and to clarify my point, I can measure particle's velocity and position simultaneously it is just that there will be some uncertainty to this measurement.
  15. Back to your original idea... quantum tunneling is pretty rare phenomenon as far as I know so no, I don't think that it would lag your device.. but the thing is that I actually cannot be sure this is the reason because I am not quantum physicist. The problem with quantum physics is that it is theme that is extremely popularized and lot of people think that they know something about it when in reality they don't, people like Deepak Chopra have been criticized exactly for this. So in my opinion it does not make so much sense to ask QM related questions on this type of forum which attracts lot of people that think they know something when in reality they might not, of course you might get a real answer here from quantum physicist or somebody with relevant expertise but it would be hard to discern between these people without checking their knowledge. So for example Leo has some videos about quantum mechanics (I did not see them) but I would not be sure if he has big enough expertise to talk about this stuff. It would really help if he brought along to his channel someone who studied it for years and they talked about it to each other, that would be great.
  16. @Inliytened1 The reason why he posted the mathematical formula was probably something like this (at least that is why I would have done it): The thing is, this subject is extremely difficult and it is not just about it being illogical, in the sense that in every day life you do not encounter things that have weird quantum-like behavior, it is also about the ton of math and physics that you learn in advanced courses in University. Most people when they debate about this kind of stuff, they only know it from popularizing articles or random YouTube videos that don't dive into the issue.. and of course they don't because for most people it is much easier to talk about how cool it is that there is quantum tunneling than to spend literally years to first study math and then the physics behind quantum tunneling or any other related phenomena. Just by scrathing the surface you won't have the slightest idea how this stuff really works and you will be really far from making any epistemological arguments from this limited knowledge. Obviously if you studied the subject thoroughly you could easily say the answer to @possibilities 's question or tell him that it wrong or whatever. Instead, you said that there was no point into looking into the mathematics, well how could you possibly know if you did not know it? Your whole argument ended by saying that he probably looked it up on Wikipedia, now I am asking you to answer yourself honestly.. why would you assume it and would it actually negate his/her point?
  17. Is @Leo Gura planning to do a video on ecology? It would be very much appreciated!
  18. @AMS Thanks for the link to the videos, I would just like to add, whether he is trolling or not, one probably should not make such comments: Fan: Sv3rige, bro.. I've been a fan of your videos for a while. But are you really saying it's okay to murder and eat people?.. Correct me if I'm wrong.. Sv3rige: Yes. One of the first comments in this video (I did not see the video itself. I have watched the video now and yes, he is actually crazy, I would not believe a word that is said on his channel):
  19. @SgtPepper Just because you read a book does not mean you understand it, just sayin..
  20. C'mon guys... the reason why he would take time to write the post taking down actualized.org could be that he is feeling real concern about people following Leo. Imagine if somebody asked you if it is ok to follow Hitler (obviously I am not comparing Leo to Hitler) you would probably also write them a lenghty letter explaining why it is a bad idea.
  21. @Leo Gura Maybe you should adress at least some issues that he raised. You could have invited quantum physicist over to talk with you and discuss what you think or invite a mathematician about Gödel's theorem. Maybe they would not agree but you could wrap it up for your viewers why you think he made some epistemiological failures or whatever.
  22. One year later, 1st day: It has been one year since I last wrote here. My last posts are about me leaving Germany and exchange year behind... What changed and what did not? I still play computer games, I do not meditate nor watch Leo's videos, I still love physics and still listen to melodic death metal. Nothing really substantial changed in two years I guess? For a long time I have been having problems with social anxiety, more accurately I thought I was not being social, that has been basically the main problem for the past year that I have been dealing with. It is quite interesting how things just take a long time, sometimes the problem simply appears again. It is kind of hard to know if the problem is solved or not. Even though some things did not change I still did some interesting things, I was in CERN for two weeks, in Germany again (with my sister), I was two weeks on astronomical summer camp, I was on some physics learning weeks (don't know the exact word for it in english). Now I am going to dancing classes every Monday. I also have experience with some substances... but lets leave that our for now. Since I am writing on this forum, lets return back to Leo. I have not watched his videos for a while now because I feel like not only that it is procrastination but I also don't get anything by watching it. He speaks about stuff I could hardly believe and even if they at some point come out as true, then the video won't be new information, it will be just good to sort thoughts. I really started to dislike some things about the way that spirituality is done here. I bet the way that people here are dedicated to this work, they could start to believe anything really and I fear I would be inside this confirmation bias bubble too. Now I do my work when I want, not regularly. Of course I am as much susceptible (?) to confirmation as before, for example because of science and that I really like determinism and the simple non-existence of consciousness.. Consider the following: consciousness is just an illusion. Why? Well thoughts make up this consciousness and you only notice something with a thought arising. That is basically all there is nothing else special about it. Of course your identity is completely made up in the sense that it exists but not only does it not matter, there is not "you" there, it is just thoughts after thoughts. I noticed something very interesting when I start to fall asleep. Thoughts just start to appear without any order. The weird thing is that they can be easily in different voice than my own. I wonder if it could be used to lucid dream. Btw. I sometimes have a lucid dream but otherwise I am not trying anything consciously. This year I will graduate, it is my last year in "high school". After that I will go to university to study physics and math. I just have to pass that tests in April and do a "year-work" in physics, my topic is improving GPS accuracy with little money. For now this is all maybe I will write something tomorrow. Dragallur
  23. Hi, I already wrote this post once but than there was this server crash and it took me while to decide that I want to write something again. Here it goes, the start of my journal. Basically I have been doing self-development of little bit more than half of year. That is the exact same point when I started with meditation. Since I keep track of all my meditation sessions I am right now on 144 hours of do-nothing (started at 20 minutes now 1 hour per day) and 47 hours of self-inquiry (started slowly almost 3 months ago, now 1 hour per day). I want to keep track of my insights here and my journey but meditation is not everything I do. My life-purpose is probably astronomy and it is anyways my biggest hobby so I will keep track of it. I also have blog which I will write about and I am passionate (but not good) lucid dreamer so I will try to improve my skills. I sometimes play video games which is one of the things that I do not want to do (see later). Otherwise I want to work hard on self-inquiry because of enlightenment. First insight: So I will share my first insight that I had in the last two days or so. I can finally see the benefits of meditation. It is amazing. Whoever is reading this, just start meditate right now. Basically I am sure right now. Before I thought that maybe my happiness increased (and it did) but now I know that my awareness is way above average and I am just 16 years old! The effect is simple, I know what the hell is going on around me and inside me. I can work with my feelings and investigate them and trust me, this is so powerful! I am able to stop on though and dig into it to see why I thought this and that. Anyways I will probably expand this topic later. Dragallur
  24. @Leo-Tzu oh come on, now it is people making war against science. Sheldrake should do research that would prove all the claims that he makes. Also read this to get better context for big G and the research about it: https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/16441/does-the-gravitational-constant-fluctuate
  25. @Outer there is no point, he is the master of deflection and straw man.
