Free will vs Determinism debates have always been weird for me... No free will doesn't imply determinism, it's like forgetting about randomness and my simple theory goes: God is randomness in every direction, and the randomness creates random shit and we are one of that shit that that ball of randomness created. Hurray for randomness! Randomness is pretty hard to produce tho, like even computers can't create real randomness. (If they could, maybe we start looking at real super-AI and that's another story - maybe we get obliterated then) So randomness is everywhere around us and we have no idea how it works. It's an explosion in every direction in every dimension, it's a happening without a cause, because what can be more random! Even the almighty infinity, i.e. god, is probably created by randomness. We create more randomness by every little random decision we do as the captains of our ship (be it ignorant captains) and probably that is something God, being randomness, likes, because we enhance him :D(whatever we choose to do, that's why he always laughin at us, we try to be mean but we always work in his favour! Maybe maybe, who cares tho! x) ) . And then the other God, the boss God, 0, nothingness, will claim us again and we will happen again! If the 1 says so! We just dancing between 0 and infinity, or 0 and 1 - in both those ranges exist infinite amount of numbers inbetween!!!!! OMG!!! One of them is us! Then the gods 0 and 1 and 2 and infinity realize they r 1 god and heaven and hell, and you and me and everything else always exists and is part of this big ass axes (in all infinite dimensions) and then I realize I am rambling too much. And I then realize I do not care because the ppl in this thread say I have no free will so that means i can do whatever I want as the captain of my ship and they will be like he didnt do it! Dont blame the captain, he doesnt even exist. It's the ship that is doing everything on it's own, so why blame the captain. My ego goes unpunished. But don't worry, even the biggest ego doesn't exist if you look at it from the right angle! PS: I am the ignorant captain, I am pointing the way to a machine that I do not understand fully (at all) and I try constantly to take credit for what the machine is doing. Will write a book I feel inspired - or will the ship write the book and me just standing there as the captain showing it the way?? When the captain thinks he is the ship, he can't escape from it if it starts sinking!!!!!! Woah that was sick metaphor lol IMHO randomness stems from the mathematical fact that there are infinite amount of numbers between any 2 numbers, but we can pick and choose which numbers we see, or how far down we zoom and dare to dive into. Start imagining, in your mind going deeper and deeper, more and more numbers after the decimal point, and they keep on increasing and generating infinite amount of new numbers between each of the newly generated infinite amount of numbers - so tiny, but so many! Now think about the big numbers (maybe we are one of those big numbers, multiplications of infinities, growing, as all the other infinities that make us grow from the root stem). That's a hard task, generating all those numbers, isn't it. So The universe itself expands in every direction because at the smallest level, imaginary numbers are expanding as we speak. They can't stop, Change is always there, unless we stay on one number. at the deepest level, beyond what the scientist can see, I think we are expanding numbers, going infinitely deep. Creating infinite possibility. We are children of Mathematics! PS: Ego corner: -trust me i've won math competitions -trust me im a programmer x_x -trust me im not crazy, i just wanted to splash on my keyboard, because of randomness. TLDR: If you read it maybe you will think, oh, that's somewhat interesting if u think bout it - especially the last bit (IMHO), might explain the constant expansion of teh universe n shit.. Are we travelling between 0 and 1? Between Bajjilion and BajillionOne Between nothing and God?... I should stop myself man, before I write another page. ... I mean.... I feel like sharing, I don't know if it's real or fiction, but I have this memory: me and other souls were Just created (we were some sort of energies, not human, more like something like a rainbow) and we were told to go and find the truth. One task. Find the truth and come back to me. Something like that. So I have one truth that my early soul realized: Why different souls have different karma if they are created equal! I was real baby about it actually! I mean its obvious why we have different karma, it's because we have different starting directions. We can only have the same karma, if we are the same thing, because we might be the same, but the environment gives us different challenges and different insights, hence different decisions to make and different karma. I also remember that I held on to this truth thinking its the ultimate truth, and it was just the first thing I got, so I slowed down afterwards, maybe depressed, depressed soul, because I knew the truth but I didn't know what to do with it, and I was slowing down, because I wasn't searching anymore! But that wasn't the truth I was after in the first place, I believe. Maybe the truth us souls were after is the truth we are after right now. Who am I. Maybe all the pain humanity has gone through is just the way for the souls that we are can find the ultimate truth and return to the starting point. When a new journey might begin -

Last night as I was going to bed, I put this on: I listened without headset/headphones while falling asleep, which probably makes it less potent, but I had small glimpses of something very deep. I was focusing my eyes on my third eye, as I do in some of my meditations. Probably was on the verge of a so called enlightenment experience. (I will not try to explain the things I "saw", because words are inadequate and also the glimpses were very short. Also it might have just been the hypnagogia talking, but more powerful than usual.) The thing is I remember incredible peace! As I remember it, the peace was something probably equivalent to you being underwater, but you are a sea creature, so you don't need to go up to breathe, so you feel perfect piece, surrounded by the lovely water. Of course there was no water, that was just how I can compare my experience. Later I felt something on the top of my head, as if some hard ball was pushing on the top of my skull. I thought I was touching the wall with my head so I touched it and I wasn't. It was coming from the inside, I guess. Is it possible this was the crown chakra activating? I've been listening to frequencies and etc before, but for the first time this frequency and this seems to have the biggest impact. Also the comments below it seem promising. Will try meditating to this tonight, but with headphones and see what happens. Any of you tried this before?

You won't know what I am talking about when I say life to it's fullest potential, until you know. I can't tell you, but if you look into spirituality you might find out before you crash. The businessman is more likely to be attached to things. The poor man is less likely to. The businessman is more likely to be living always in the future, in his mind. The poor man is less likely to. Of course you probably can be an enlightened businessman, but I think you gotta be pretty wise to do that. Sure, make money, live, but remember to look for the truth in the present moment, or your life just might be wasted in distraction.

I feel that whenever this "mental masturbation" as Leo likes to say goes on, it is just the mind trying to say, but wait, I can fit infinity within me, I am capable, just give me another shot and I will explain it. We have to let go, not go further, even tho we think we are getting a better sense for infinity. There are infinite infinities and if we even understand one infinity (we won't) then there are infinitely more to investigate. But the mind keeps trying! Maybe mentally masturbating myself, just had a mentalgasm.

Easiest if you let your brain think, have belief and act the same way as it always does, just don't identify with it. You are that which experiences all that. There you go, a head start, begin now @Ross I believe the rest will happen for you by itself if you stick to trying to observe the "I am" from the place before "I am". PS: For me, the place before "I am" is nothingness. So imagine nothingness in your mind, and the thing that is seeing that nothingness is the true nothingness, or that which you are.

Yeah, Ekhart Tolle has videos on that. Just try to keep presence in the inner body during your days while you are walking/doing whatever as a practise. I've been doing it whenever I remember, of-course xD. Just focus on breathing and keep some attention on the inner body, even when you're talking to somebody.

It was something like I was walking around with an old-ish lady with very formal clothes and I perceived her as my guardian angel. The dream was so large and she was trying to teach me things and give guidance. That's something pretty cool, I just remembered about this dream a few hours ago! I remember from that dream how she said one of my friends from Holland is the "devil". We play internet games together and we used to smoke weed. Maybe trying to tell me I shouldn't be doing those things and grow up. After all she seemed like quite the business lady.

I have a good one too! The human is a process like a burning cigarette. Born with fire, then we start burning and moving towards our death. In the meantime, our mind is all the smoke that is coming out. =) The smokes starts to think and it thinks it's the cigarette, because it sees it is coming from it.... But that's the physical entity. We are not only that process, right? We are everything?

I've got a work colleague who is a lot into Astrology and he constantly does that (talk about the position of the planets) when we speak together. He talks about the planets and how he knew something would happen because of them etc, etc (like yesterday I think he said mars was over the moon or something like that and that meant aggression and family, and his roommate had a fight with him and almost kicked him out..). He always tried to get me into it, but I am just not interested in these things. We do talk about other spirituality things like astral projection, as he claims he had one when he was young and about chakras, but when he starts to talk about that Astrology thing, I want to barf .

There are tests where they stick some stuff on your head and measure your brain activity during sleep and detect whether you are conscious during the sleep or not. The thing is, people can achieve this through practice. I don't think you need to be enlightened to stay conscious through all the stages of sleep, even though I've read that you have to be a real master to do it (so maybe you do have to be enlightened). It's a Tibetan yoga thing, and I really like the topic of sleep, dreams and being conscious while asleep. Maybe I should return to the practice.

Couldn't control the thought? Is that just a bad choice of words? As far as I know, thoughts cannot be controlled. You can only observe and accept that the thought is there and continue.

Can I ask you a question, I am really curious, how do you support yourself if you meditate 5-8 hours a day? I mean I guess you gotta become pretty rich to go for full enlightenment mode like you did there. Or you work 8 hours, meditate 8 hours and sleep 8 hours? (I guess it's doable but if that's the case u must be a machine :D)

I am at a crossroad in my life as I am moving to a different country and I will be looking for a new job. I am thinking between continuing my programming career and just getting a simpler "serving the people" job. My problem with programming is that it is obviously very intellectually demanding career and it kind of forces me to live in my mind. Of course it would yield more money, however, I would need to spend countless hours learning new things and keeping my old knowledge fresh, which I would think is counterproductive for the spirituality practice, which is to get out of the mind and to let it's waves calm down on their own (will this ever happen if I constantly throw hard intellectual tasks in it?) . I was wondering is it possible to stay conscious and be a no-mind while you are working with computers, or are computers the so called "devil" when it comes to being present?

A little offtopic here, but I'm kind of scared of Zen monestaries, I have this really weird "memory" how I am getting beat up to death, really painful and not knowing what is happening to me xD. Out of the blue! Or maybe I was an asshole

What sort of answers are those? If someone believes something it's automatically real? I don't think so, at least not in the illusion we are living in right now.
