Lately i've started experiencing a calmer mind. In my particular case, ive been struggling with stopping smoking, as whenever the thought pops up i feel like i want to get some - and usually go for it if i identify with the thought. But i am beginning to reep some benefits from meditation, and i am finding myself being able to actually not think about anything if it is not in my immediate perception. So i can close my eyes and my mind settles into nothing slowly but surely. This helps me with annoying "should have" thoughts and anything really that bothers my inner peace. Now the problem is that my peace is still conditional, because i require to tune out everything to get it. I realise that an enlightened being doesnt have a problem with mind, but is just not attached to the thoughts that arise and is unconditionally at peace. I have most trouble when i am around my girlfriend (yes, we got back together, for those who have seen other posts where i call her my ex). Our relationship seems create big waves, while i am constantly trying to calm the seas. I am taking it as a lesson from the Universe. So i cant obviously tune oit while i am with her, so i start feeling the actual problems of my ego. But still. I think that this is a very useful superpower to have - even if its conditional, the condition is easy to achieve - at least in my circumstances. Next stop - enlightenment city. There might be some traffic tho. Ps: the most useful methods to stop thinking i have, come from ekhart tolle and rupert spira, i simply love those guys. So what do you guys think - this has to be like at least 1/4 enlightenment, right?

Look pls don't be dissing my ego. It's not spiritual it's completely egoic ego . I thought we on this forum are on one wavelength and we like to share with like minded people. God knows I have nobody else to talk to on these things. I wasn't fishing for it, I was just being myself. I have been contemplating this problem of what to say, when someone asks me stuff like that, without lying. I'm also not taking it seriously and having fun with this shit. Like even if you havent eradicated the illusion yet, it's pretty clear that you cannot find this I ( the ego ) no matter how far you look. It is nothing. A thought at best. The Ego is an expression, part of the flower called human. An illusory scent w/e. The thing im getting at is, that you are speaking to a human being right now. And that human being with or without ego (doesnt matter because ultimately ego doesn't exist) is aware of itself (You are aware of the ego -> illusion -> nothing or your true self -> awareness itself -> nothing). Any human being with or without ego is aware of itself. Therefore I was stating a fact there, and if you speak truth / fact, how is that ego? Although I would not say it this way, I would say yeah, it's pretty easy to be aware that you are aware. And since you can't find yourself, you're nothing (no ego) - so what do you want me to lie that nothingness is not aware of itself?
