That depends where you are looking for yourself when you ask the question "Who am I". Are you looking at the past for the answer, or are you looking at the present moment?

@StephenK Someone once said that if you want to learn something very well, you need to join a forum about that thing. That's what I'm doing here.

Not a god, because there's only one God/reality, so we cannot use "a" before it.

Are you saying there exists something other than truth? -

@Outer AleksM is the only user on the forum talking about electromagnetism. I believe he has gone more deep than most and deep in an interesting direction as well. Perhaps do yourself a favor and judge less. -

Yeah, a healthy mix between being and thinking has to be established. Just some go way overboard against thinking. This is usually done by spiritual teachers because of the thought dominance in society, but becoming a vegetable is not that much better than becoming an egoic asshole. In fact you can only afford to be a vegetable if there are egos protecting you in that state. -

Beautiful! The only thing I have trouble with is the bit where without thought there is no problem. While that is correct, in my experience i can feel amazing at this moment, but I still have crazy big financial and other types of problems/challenges that wouldn't fix themselves simply by me being and/or wishing then away. I have to think and think hard how to fix those... Yeah I could sit like a happy vegetable, but this would increase my financial bothers and at one point I will have to be in survival mode on the streets. Every time I touch the thoughts about my issues, I get a little panic and twitch in my body because of the bad decisions I've taken. Those decisions could have benedited from thought, but I prefer to let the wind blow me wherever it wants in the hopes of enlightenment... An analogy that I can use to describe my situation us that I'm in a pressure cooker and for now the water is warm and nice, but I know it will become hotter and hotter, then boiling hot. I can either start thinking of an escape from the cooker or I can enjoy myself and just be there, ready to boil. It's not always black and white -
Yes please

True for me, because I keep on pissing in my own soup. -

I don't think that. When life is a continuous Soup-piss, you might find yourself dreaming of death and those dreams would be the best you've ever had -

My take is that a Buddha wouldn't hold any object as precious and would just let go and do nothing. Ofcourse to our romantic minds this seems like a total asshole move, for example if it's his child, but ultimately consciousness is unaffected whether so called good or bad things happen. -

Great question, but how do you sustain your body to keep meditating? I guess this option is onlu available to the rich and to those who are not the body and meditate all the time, because they are meditation itself! -

Some things have to be clear to you - you are not your thoughts, you can never be the monkey mind. This is classic identification with thinking!! I prescribe you the Eckhart Tolle pill. If you can be aware of it, it's not you. Neti neti. That simple. -
Dodo replied to Dali Llama's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That depends.. Are you the monkey mind? Or are you the one aware of the monkey mind? Only the monkey mind is saying "I am the monkey mind", you are quietly witnessing, you're the canvas upon which monkey mind draws a painting. Now if you want a picasso painting, perhaps you need to transform your monkey mind into a butterfly mind. -

Offering you a simple practice you may do any moment during your day when you remember. It's a spin of self enquiry in which you systematically use thoughts (specifically questions) to direct and move your attention deeper towards truth. Simply ask yourself, am I this or am I aware of this? Am I doing this action or am I aware of doing this action? Use whatever is most obvious in your experience at this moment and apply this question to it. For example, say you are walking down the street. The most obvious thing that is happening is that you are walking, so now ask the question: Am I walking or am I aware of walking? Move attention in direction of the answer. Since you asked that question and now you had that thought... Perhaps you notice that and ask yourself further... Am I thinking or am I aware of thinking? Am I writing a forum post or am I aware of writing a forum post? Am I reading a thread or am I aware of reading a thread? Am I alive or am I aware of being alive? Am I dead or am I aware of being dead? Am I tired or am I aware of being tired? Am I sad or am I aware of being sad? Am I annoyed or am I aware of being annoyed? Am I this or am I aware of this? Am I that or am I aware of that? Am I doing this or am I aware of doing this? This is a simple practice which I find useful and I thought i'd share.
