  1. I have just been asked to leave the house after an argument with my wife. We were together for 3 years and married for only 4 months. I am reading this from my hotel room and it was encouraging. The argument was so silly, I didn't answer my phone while at work. In one of her messages, she says "wtf". That got me angry and I swore back in an sms. Since she pays the rent, she has asked me to leave. We have immigrated to another country, my VISA is dependant on her and it expires in 2 months. Without her sponsorship, I will have to return home to my country. I am dependant on her so that I can continue to work here. Do I walk away - this will take me many steps backward. All the help would be appreciated.
  2. Use your phone to record your voice when you have good ideas. If you're doing so many hop on hop off to work then either change work or move closer to work. I'm sure you don't own a house since you just moved there, so if you're renting, then go rent closer. If your commute is split between work and school, then work hard to save for a cheap car. It all starts with small consistent effort. Where you are now, is not where you will end up.
  3. The reason why we loose interest soon after starting a self help book is because some authors make the introduction very long and boring. Then the theory starts. The really good books are the ones with practical tips. But practical tips are short and few and a thin book won't make for good sales, therefore, it's packed with theory. Next time you pick up a book try skipping the long preface and introduction. Try even looking at the contents, then going directly to your favorite part or topic. You don't have to read a book in a linear fashion. As soon as you finish a topic you like, go back to the contents and choose another topic. You will feel less inclined to think the way the author wanted you to think and in charge of how information gets delivered to your brain. I choose to keep a few really good books and read them over again as a refresher. I rather read a few books, remember most of it than a 100 books and remember none of it. Some advanced readers might disagree with me, so this applies if you're just starting to get into reading. Happy reading! P.S - This is why I watch Leo's videos, he cuts most of the theory and gets straight into the how to.
  4. The mind always wants what it cannot have. As soon as you get into a busy job, you will wish you have free time to do other things. Enjoy your free time now, I'm sure that it won't last forever. We all had free time at some point in our lives. As we evolve and take on more things, free time becomes a distant memory.
  5. Unfortunately, in my personal experience, the reward system did not work. This is what I learned from this. The brain is not motivated by rewards. Meaning that if you reward yourself today, it's not going to work harder the next day. This is just because it can trick you into getting the reward first, at least this will eventually happen. The brain is clever and it will evolve around you to getting as much comfort and avoiding hard work. Rather than rewarding, focus on the purpose on which you want to do something. We are so distracted nowadays that we cannot get anything done. Take for example a man who has just been sentenanced to 25 years in prison . He has nowhere to go. No entertainment and no media. He has nothing in his cell except a bed and a sink plus a toilet. Every day all he does is sit and look at the walls of his cell. All of a sudden, after 5 years, someone leaves a law degree text book on his bed. He will eventually pick it up and start reading it, the possibility of even mastering it. Yet, we have students outside of the prison walls, struggling to put together a timetable and barely managing to get a few hours of work done. We have to do affirmations, vision boards, and the likes, just so that we can feel motivated to be productive. Cut out distraction to the extent that you only have the things in your life that matter and you will succeed!
  6. If you're a vegan or vegetarian, do you also stop using leather jackets. What about other household products that are made from animals. For example, do you wear a leather belt? Shoes? They all come from animals.
  7. What time do you sleep if you only wake up at 11AM. The most important thing in your case is, what you're aiming for and if you're making consistent effort daily to eventually achieve the goals you set. If this is not the life you wanted, and by doing personal development work I can assume so, then it seems like there are times in the day that you can use to feel more enriched. I would say ditch the games you play for some volunteer work.
