Was in Colombia early 2022 with my ex-gf who is colombian but i met her in the UK. Amazing experience and i would love to go there or somewhere by myself just to have that experience of going out on my own. I found the language difficult because when you travel in europe you can usually get by but in Colombia no one really speaks English so it was a real challenge. I like the idea of learning spanish in colombia or another spanish speaking country, are there any tips on this? ive never considered it but it gives you a bit of focus while your there rather than just being in holiday mode

What does she do all day, does she work? Do you have to work from home, could you not work out of a coffee shop or something? Generally it sounds like she needs some of her own stuff to focus on as all the focus seems to be on you which is probably not healthy from one side to another. Communication is always the way forward though

Why would they act differently in terms of capitalism just because its a vaccine? Theres no allegiance to a vaccine, russia is literally at war for much less than a vaccine, guaranteed if they could find something wrong with pfizer vaccine and promote their own, 100% they would do it. China are not getting paid from the vaccine but theyre still using it and paying for it, even though them doing that enriches a US company. It sounds like your trying to shoehorn your already established position into a reality that cant sustain it. -
@trenton Nice, ill check it out. I was on lichess before and had around 1800 rating which was a lot more than my chess.com, what do you think is more accurate?

OK so specifically what i was talking about was working with kids that are vulnerable in youth services, which i did personally for about 4 years. When you work with them you realise that they are suceptible to outside 'bad' influences. In my case the young people were potentially vulnerable to join criminal gangs but we also specifically worked with young people that were vulnerable to terrorist organisations. Young people become more vulnerable if they have a bad home life or have mental health problems etc if young people that fall into this category are targeted by people trying to groom and radicalise them, this can result in devastating consequence, whereby the young person can go to deep and commit a real crime and possibly get imprisoned or hurt someone. What you need to understand is that these organisations are actively looking to do this, that is there sole reason for releasing information, its not a case of theyre just saying what they think and some people are taking it too seriously, the content is specifically designed to target vulnerable people who are likely to join whoever's movement. This is a very real thing that happens everyday. I asked you if you worked with young people in this capacity because if you did you would realise how serious this issue is. While it might be fun to philosophise on how we can maintain free speech and how everyones sovereign, the reality is real people and families get hurt by this everyday. If you went into the world and saw this i think it would be impossible to keep your position. Luckily you dont have any sufficient reach to affect anyone, but for your own understanding, realise that you just watching things on youtube and then thinking you have some solution compared to people who have spent years in the industry, specifically dealing with this issue is not even close to being comparable. The only reason why people are even responding to you is because of how ignorant your thinking is. -

Ok so you havent actually worked with young people in a professional capacity? -
Consept replied to Victor van Rijn's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Thats slightly worrying, in what capacity? -

However you want to word it, have you worked with young people before? -

Can you answer the question? -
Consept replied to Victor van Rijn's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
ok.... so have you worked with anyone, maybe young people who maybe interested in potentially dangerous ideologies? I think you know what im asking but you seem to be avoiding the question -

@mr_engineer You didn't actually answer my question, have you worked with vulnerable young people and seen the effects radical propaganda has on them? Or are all your 'solutions' just from watching certain online talking heads? Also just to confirm, is your solution to radicalisation, let them be exposed to terrorist propaganda, but also show them your propaganda that combats it? This is pretty much how it goes today and there are a lot of problems, you are somewhat underestimating the scale of this problem just to hold up your free speech absolutism. -

You missed what im saying, im not saying that black people in this example need to be protected. I am specifically saying that white people who are susceptible to falling down the rabbit hole of racism need to be protected. Let me use another example, Al-qaeda, specifically look for vulnerable people in the west to radicalise them so that they can join their cause. I personally while working with young people was in a seminar where they stated the problem of young people getting radicalised and how they were targeted and how to deal with it. They didnt draw any distinctions on which form of radicalisation was worse they actually used examples of islamic terrorism and far right terrorism, they are both 2 sides of the same coin. Now what you have to understand is that there are going to be a certain amount of vulnerable people who will fall victim to online attempts to radicalise them, it just is what it is and so its a matter of handling this as best as possible as it has real world consequences for a lot of people and at the very least its highly irresponsible to allow it to happen on a platform. Is it the only solution? No of course not, work has to be done with families and vulnerable people, that is probably more important, but platforming people who are actively trying to recruit people into these ideologies is extremely dangerous. Can i ask do you have any experience working with vulnerable people or any experience of the consequences of allowing hateful rhetoric designed to recruit? -
Consept replied to Victor van Rijn's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
That is quite an oversimplification of the solution for racism. What you're not taking into account is that there are many vulnerable people who can be influenced negatively by others promoting ideologies. For example, someone speaking about rhetoric like black people are sub-human, could be picked up by vulnerable white men, but this will only happen if the platform is made available to share these ideas. There has to be protection for these people, it's the same reason why you would have protection for kids, you have to have a criminal check etc to be allowed to work with kids why should this be different for speaking to people who are liable to fall into s cultist rabbit hole? Given that most these platforms are private businesses there is absolutely a duty of care to their users. -
Do you wanna do a couple practice lessons with me? I'm around 1500 rated on chess.com but I haven't formally learnt any principles, so I'm up for however you want to teach that will improve me

Dam, between this and him bragging about how he run his cam business this is not looking good for Tate. I suspect he also pissed off Romania by constantly bragging about how he could get away with shit there. He will most likely go down for it, as long as the case is solid. The funny thing is he could've quite easily got away with it, if he didn't keep talking about it and showing off. Without him doing that a lot of it could be quite grey and hard to pin down but he's really exposed himself. He was addicted to the fame. The other sad thing is young men are really fucked if they're holding him up as a role model, there's such a lack of strong, healthy, masculine role models that an alleged sex trafficker is seen as the pinnacle of manhood. Even if he does get off, at the very least its very shady.

Or not shady enough

Constructive criticism is actually essential of you want to grow and self-actualise. The key is the intention behind the criticism, some people will give it out of some dislike of you or maybe they're jealous, whatever the reason, its more about them than you. Others will give it with a genuine intention of trying to help you improve or connecting with you. What you have to get good at is spotting the difference. Also your ego needs to be able to hear a criticism and not be hurt by it, because you may take all criticism as bad just because it hurts your ego. This isn't productive and can actually push away people who can actually make a massive positive impact in your life. A friend will tell you your teeth look great, a real friend will tell you your teeth are great but you've got spinich in them.

The issue would be if he's saying something false about them or if he's giving bad faith takes. Obviously he does have an audience that wants people to get exposed so that is the content he will be looking for and will have bias' against who he considers grifters, but if he is just pointing out information that is true I don't see a problem, in fact that would be helpful. But yeah if you do have specific examples of bad faith on his part then post it up -

Is there anyone in particular you think he wasn't fair to? -
Incredible final, prob best I've seen. I did put some money on France at the start of the tournament which made it more of a roller coaster, lost that but also had mbappe for golden Boot so that made up for it a little. Great tournament, don't gamble kids

I agree on the whole in that nothing outside of you is going to make you feel complete, this is pretty much an essential idea to grasp. Where I disagree is that society doesn't just make up a blueprint that you should try and sleep with women, this is imprinted on you deeply through evolution and genetics, so this does inform what people do. For example, there have been many societies that have tried to repress sexuality, think of religious societies of the last few hundred years, whereby you could even be killed for adultery, even with the threat of death people still commit adultery. So this is a foundational urge that most of us have. How that is presented in a society is down to the society, for example some are more open sexually, some put more importance on being monogamous etc but really all these are, are ways to have that powerful sexual urge and incorporate it into a society. So you should do whatever you feel, but i would look at healthy ways to express your sexuality. Pick up is just a tool, it can be used for ego validation or it can be used to have and give an amazing experience to someone you're attracted to

I think the issue is Ronaldo still thinks he's the best player in the world and unfortunately this is no longer the case. Previously teams like Madrid, Juve and Man United were built around him, meaning he didn't have to worry about tackling or chasing the ball, just give him an opportunity and he would score. This can still be the case but the problem is his contribution outside of goals is so minimal it doesn't make sense putting him in even if you have someone who scores less but contributes in other areas. A lot of players who are forwards, when they get older and a bit slower, acknowledge this and usually drop back into midfield, for example Greizeman for France, Rooney, Beckham etc. The exceptions are players that never had pace in the first place like Giroud and Zlatan. I feel for Ronaldo because he is being the way he's always been and that has brought a ridiculous amount of success. I can imagine adapting that and accepting you're no longer the best must be very difficult, but this frustration he has can spill over and affect the team. Realistically, he could keep playing by dropping down a level and going somewhere like the mls or the Middle East or even back to Portugal. He also could still play for a big team but would to accept he's not the star anymore. The other issue is his wage demands are insane. He maybe better off just retiring, but it looks like his ego is so tired to the title of the goat.
