It likes to play fancy dress where our masks are the ego and self. Some psychedelics take the mask away and you understand that everyone is one there, as being there requires the mask go which leaves only pure being. So the Pope and a serial killer, when "there", are literally the same. Everything Pope about the Pope and everything killer about the killer is part of the mask that necessarily shatters before you can reach "there". Lifelong meditation is kind of a joke because as soon as you're "there", which we all reach because the self WILL die, none of that person who did all the meditating is there anymore. They're fucking GONE. Completely. Eviscerated. NOTHING of them remains, and all of their years of reading and practicing is gone. And that's how they get "there". I've been "there" once, that is why I ever ended up somewhere like this. -

I'd like to know the answer but the question stops occuring at breakthrough... Then I don't ask any questions, or know any answers either... It's the strangest thing that in the highest states of actual knowledge, there isn't any knowledge. Knowledge ends, only "being". But then when we come back, inevitably we want to understand what happened. And our memory is pretty good so it's not like a total non-starter, but it's still describing the state and is not the state itself... Pretty obvious really, you can describe the sensation of riding a rollercoaster to someone in as much depth as you want, it will not be the same as actually being on the coaster. That's what can't properly be transcribed. -

I have yes. I was addicted to psychedelics for a good period of time. One of my DMT trips gave me actual PTSD. Another one fucked me up to the point of yelling and crying, and literally flushing it all and ending the chapter completely. Though fortunately only one of the two gave me PTSD. In no trip I have ever had however, and I have tripped really hard (combinations of high doses of acid and DMT and ketamine etc), have I EVER felt love. I felt an MDMA type rush once, and awe/astonishment some other times. But never love. I barely feel it in sober life either, or on MDMA. I do love my family but I know my ability to experience love is very muted. -

Thanks for the job you do. I knew a firefighter captain (or was applying to be a captain?), he was the dad of some good friends of mine. Really wonderful and friendly guy. Always remember him doing "emergency driving" in his people carrier for us when we were young. Anyway, back on topic it should be possible. Theoretically it IS just a reaction of the mind. If someone could turn off senses like hearing or seeing etc, they should be able to turn off feeling too. -
I don't ride the train much, but when in a very busy spot like that it is easier to imagine removing perceptions from the world. E.g. you can close your eyes (which isn't the same as being blind, we see black, but still), and then notice the entire audience sound is like when you zoom in on the people on Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 or Zoo Tycoon or something (lmao), and imagine if you removed hearing and went deaf, and see how people just vanish. And you can see that you are looking at nothing but a product of your own mind. Even a materialist understands that what we experience is a product of the mind. It's interesting to seriously realize it sometimes. Especially in crowded settings like that.

This is his career dude, and he lives in Vegas partying and such. He can't retire unless he goes Kaczynski-mode hermit in the woods lol. -

Look into a mirror. You know the person in the mirror is just the image reflected in the mirror, you know it is not a sentient being. You don't find awareness in the head of the image of the person in the mirror, you find it here. When looking at other people, that is also where they are. There is NO NEED to rob them of their lives and perception as Leo has been teaching. As long as you understand it is happening "here" and NOT in the image's head. The person is just an image... You think you experienced more than whatever finite set of experience is on your mind right now: e.g. if you aren't currently looking at green, you believe you have experienced green in the past and that it was experienced by you from the perspective of here. The only way you can attach you-ness to that memory of seeing green once is because you remember it. And that is when people believe in p-zombie solipsism, when they believe in linear time and also neglect the memory function. See another person's perspective is just like your perspective last week, except you don't remember it. This is allowed for by there not being any real linear time. Linear time is the only way the infinite can be experienced (if you overlayed a bunch of separate colors, none of those individual colors remain as they all intermingle). -

"Noticing The External World Doesn't Exist" That is obvious, as you know everything you have ever known or ever could know is a projection of your own mind. Anything that's a "thing" will always rely on some form of perception. Perception is what gives things thing-ness. Without perception everything is nothingness, like how mathematics is not made of some sort of "substance". There IS no substance at all. There is only apparent substance (thing-ness) by perception. -

I'm listening to the video again right now as I only got to an hour or so when the video was up. It's getting off of a nondual realization and into something that reminds me of Creationism where "it" inherently has traits, such that it makes up history and chemistry because it has a "desire" of some sort to trick itself... I can see intermingling with typical 5-MeO-DMT realization, that you've never experienced anything but your own mind. "You ARE experience" etc. but that is literally just nondual teaching, and it isn't related to the rest of what is being said. Basically it's P-Zombie ideas in with nondual teaching. As he says, if you kill someone in your dreams you don't wonder if they suffer, as you know they aren't real. I KNOW I am aware so he is admitting he himself is a P-Zombie and the rest of you are too, if I took that message to be true then suffering never happens if I shoot you all. I'm not "attached to dreaming" myself, I'm pretty bored of this life. A few more seasons of my fave cartoon, maybe, I don't much care for anything else. I'd rather re-dream the same sense input types (I enjoy pretty colors) but better. Or just re-dream I'm IN one of my favorite shows. I'd do that right now if I could. -

Lol I was actually being serious... I've definitely noticed that Bipolars are prone to spontaneous awakening experience, with or without "learning" things. There is a Bipolar on this board who will surely confirm @BipolarGrowth and also Frank Yang has Bipolar disorder. And also on many non-spiritual self help related videos, there is a personality type where it's just like "omg my entire life is changed by this video!" flooding comments. I'm very curious as to the relation. I enjoy psychology a lot. -

Are you diagnosed with a mental illness? I've noticed that people with specific mental illnesses have a very easy time having epiphanies just from things like watching a video. -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
The thing is, if that is what he thinks then you have direct evidence that he has gone crazy, of course, as you are aware. I noticed in his video he maybe was using time in an odd way, and just a few things that he said made it unclear. Which sucked because I wanted his clear opinion on whether he believes in NPCs or merely every experience being had by the same nobody. When he said for example, that others are not seeing simultaneously to you. Well, simultaneous kind of works within the confines of time. As we actually experience time, we only experience "now", and in our experience, that "now" moment changes in content. If you were at the beach a week ago, that experience is being had "now" just like whatever content has filled that space. If you had no memory of that event, and no ego, that experience could as well be ascribed to another individual. There is no difference between an experience you had but don't remember, and another person's experience in this moment... As it is all "now" and simultaneous as such. It is the apparent passage of time that spreads it out like the pages of a flickbook when the entire flickbook exists as a single unit, already whole and complete. In terms of NPCs, when you look at a person, everything about them is a construction of mind, their appearance is a hallucination, etc etc. Their true "appearance" is nothingness. As there is not really anything "out there". Also true when you see your own face in a mirror. The person in the mirror does not have experience from the side of the mirror, no image has experience and all people including your own reflection are images. All experience takes place in the same HERE and NOW. Literally the "perspective" from which you view everything is the same precise location from which the images of other people standing in front of you also see the world from... But to confine it to one ego etc, it is very peculiar. It's more like all people are you experiencing the world (also you - nothingness) via different masks and egos built upon a story of memories. You are experiencing me typing this in the same way you experienced an event you remember from last week. It is all now, all simultaneous. -

I only came here due to drug revelations, it is the sole reason I have any interest in nonduality at all. The trips I had strip ego and do all sorts of bizarre things alien to our daily lives. I think very mentally unwell people seeking "help" from spirituality will probably just drive themselves into psychosis. As such if you need advice you should probably see a medically trained psychiatrist. I don't believe OCD and schizophrenic people read some "spiritual" stuff and are suddenly well. The highest I ever got was taking 5 hits of acid and then smoking a breakthrough dose of DMT at the peak. That is when I reached a place where the ego was left behind, and coming back from that were several realizations... E.g. the irony of monks meditating for their entire lives, when all monk-ness to that monk is just part of the separate self, and in actuality that monk is equal to a murderer child rapist junkie, because it is just existence itself and alone. The monk and murderer and all of that, is like a mask on top of pure being that falls away like all things. That is the type of solipsism I encountered personally. That is the type of solipsism discussed by figures like Rupert Spira, and ancient mystics. "No others" is not meant to mean that everyone is an NPC but you. That is when the ego, which is of course limited (ALL appearances are finite, infinity = nothingness substantially) attempts to comandeer control of the infinite. Which is impossible because it's like a character on a screen trying to somehow comandeer control of the screen. Appearance trying to somehow become the infinite which is inherently total nothingness, non-appearance. It's just an appearance, zero causative power of any kind!!!! -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I've done more than enough. Solipsism where every experience is had by you, is not equivalent to NPC theories. This is the only thing that matters when discussing solipsism, and it was not addressed. Or it was hinting at NPC theories. There is not any sound reasoning to believe in NPC type solipsism at all. This is not the same as your girlfriend being made of nothingness, this is not the same as your girlfriend's thoughts being had by you... -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
This dream is one of materialism, it functions precisely as such. Materialism only fails when trying to propose an external world or that materialism creates consciousness itself. However the brain is absolutely and certainly attached to certain happenings like memory and ego. Altering the brain can destroy those things, that is why we take drugs which alter the functioning of the brain. It is not of consequence that brains are made of no substance at all, or that there is no substance PERIOD (which is true, there is no such thing as a substance, just nothingness appearing as everything), it still functions as such. The solipsism Leo is going into right now is not the type of solipsism which might be discussed by Buddha, Spira, whatever other figure. It's not the usual non-duality from 5-MeO-DMT. That's why he says it's way beyond normal "awakening", he's been doing other "weird" drugs and having "conversations with God". He's had a 5-MeO-MALTdown... -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
His video was not coming from that angle. His video was from the angle that there are no other experiences of other people, such that when you tell Leo you saw his video, you're an NPC lying in his dream... Except oddly he speaks as though he himself is the NPC. Which would be at odds with the apparent realization. I know what you are talking about and had the crisis of realizing nobody could help me escape the terror because they're just me. This is not the same realization Leo was trying to discuss. The one we are talking about is easy to convey properly, he is going the NPC route. -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
There's simply no good reason to believe that is not the case, as I already see the illusion of the "passage of time" when every single moment remains to be "now" no matter how much time passes. There is no good reason to believe the "now" moments cannot extend beyond your limited lifetime and ego self. As a human being your lifespan is already limited. Most of us don't start forming lasting memories for a while, but you can go before your physical birth. You aren't confined to experience within this narrow scope of say, 80 years. And yet any experience prior to your physical birth or after your physical death ALSO happen "now". The actual passage of time is a sheer illusion. Why could there not be more "now" moments that do not adhere to your ego and memory bank? It's impossible that there not be, as experience never begins and never ends... -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
If you're true to your direct experience, you have no proof that you didn't just start existing with a bank of false memories. See the trick that is memory... If somehow you flicked to my body right now to type this, then flicked back to your body reading it, there's nothing but memory that could ever tie together that story, and nothing to "you" but a story built out of memory either. You could experience typing on my screen and the entire backlog of memory, and yet flick back to your body and have no memory or knowledge that it had happened. -
RMQualtrough replied to Someone here's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I watched the video too. I felt he kept saying things which I did not need to hear without touching on the things I was curious to hear. If you were to right this moment fall into a black hole and live your mother's entire life, then die as your mother and fall back through the black hole here, all of your "mother's" experiences would have been had by "you". There's nothing but memory that allows you to tie together that story of what happened to "you". So if as you said you entered another body and came back, that would not be in your memory bank... I don't see any compelling reason to believe that it's not possible to live all "lives" that have ever existed in this same "now" moment that "my" entire life has happened in... Can anyone else think of any single reason? -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
But there are no other people. Fuckin' NPCs... -
RMQualtrough replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
It's not dangerous, it's just not well taught. Else, he either doesn't believe it or I'm the only aware being. I KNOW I'm aware so if he believes he "awoke" to the fact this experience of seeing my screen is not happening, then he's definitely just done too many drugs (why steer away from toad onto all this weird shit?). Now, if a magic portal opened in the ground, sucked me in, I lived Leo's entire life, then the portal sucked me back here with no memory of that fact... Then that is still solipsism, but it would not make NPCs of people. That is actually a thought I had a lot as a very young kid. Andy Weir's "The Egg" seems more accurate to what is really happening without even intending to be. I mean, I wouldn't be frightened by everyone being NPCs, as I am reclusive and mostly just watch cartoons and shit like that (I already live in fantasy-land). But there is really no reason to believe it is the case. There's nothing but memory and ego tying "my" experiences from years ago to "me" now, without memory or ego it would be equal to "another person" having had that experience. All these events happened "now", why would there not be more "now" events which are simply not tethered into this limited memory and ego? -
RMQualtrough replied to Chris365's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
It's not fucking you up, you're just an NPC, Leo has made me aware of this now. Only I'm real, I'm the one who has the direct experience of being aware. Stop faking. As God I command you all admit you have no experience of awareness.
