  1. @Joshe Reframing of pain is what I have been doing lately combined with acceptance .
  2. @TruthFreedom Try, fail then learn. Rinse and repeat.
  3. @Leo Gura These quotes are gold. However I have few questions. Is critical thinking by challenging one's own assumptions a wiser path and is it part of skepticism? Yesterday I was feeling sadness but when I stopped resisting it but rather accepted ,embraced it I smiled. So which is better acceptance or observation of your negative emotions and reminding yourself that it's hallucination ? I mean since both approaches are path to embracing pain but which is the better catalyst for transformation?
  4. That's awesome progress bar that you have set yourself for .All the best.
  5. Do you mean cold approach or social circle approach ?
  6. Realized this a significant time ago.
  7. @WonderSeeker Read Tao Te Ching (Stephen Michelle's translation) by Kao Tazu .It will tell you about Chinese philosophy .Worth a read since it well help you connect more and be at peace .
  8. @Natasha Tori Maru By the way I liked that you mentioned virtue behind actions . To teach.
  9. @Natasha Tori Maru Ok ,I didn't understood you point my bad.
  10. @enchanted 👍.
  11. Guys and women of this forum - How you all deal with emotional suffering ? I have gotten confused with so many high quality tools such as embracing suffering through acceptance of reframing it by thought processes or questioning the thoughts, assumptions or beleifs that cause you all to suffer ? Which tool you all use regularly? Lately have been using embracing suffering ,observing my thoughts and questioning the thoughts, assumptions and beleifs which cause me to suffer .CBT or Cognitive reappraisal also works for me.
  12. But that assumes that Leo is guiding us by challenging us healthily. I came across his behaviour on the forum as hurtful ,egotistical .I was surprised to know years ago that he was not the same person on YouTube who taught basic self -help or even philosophy for that matter. His response on this forum contradicted to the YouTuber Leo Gura. Since then I learned the hard way multiple times on the forum and real life that people are not what they portray themselves online .
  13. Yup I agree 100% with the 1st statement . Concerning second one I never even touched weed cigerette ,alcohol since I was born. 😂 I already have few friends .
  14. @enchanted Partially healthy .For physical activity I walk , proper diet :working on overcoming junk food addiction but still struggling and I have been getting consistent sleep . As per other things : I meditate ,do self -questioning etc.
  15. @enchanted Thanks but I also remember that acceptance is where suffering gets reduced and manageable .
  16. I felt that too in the past for a long time as a male. Quoting Mark Manson here which really helped me and helps me now - If you're sitting day by day miserable then you are already wrong about something major in your life. For any change to happen in your life you must be wrong about something. Try reading Subtle Art of not giving a F---.(A great recommendation)
  17. @Majed I get you I felt this when I was in college that I won't get a girlfriend. It's pretty miserable place once you take that beleif seriously (speaking from experience) .Either question that beleif or stop buying into it since it can lead you to emotional turmoil, suffering ,sadness - all of which I went through in college by believing this thought .Fast forward today , I have graduated and I rarely think of that beleif as well as I have replaced it with better ones - I can get a someone if I continue putting myself out there. Secondly , you can replace it with I don't know weather I would get laid ot not . Now a these days whenever guys tell me I won't get a girlfriend it feels little hurt for a while but eventually it bounces off my chest .
  18. I was also confused about the same .By the way I prefer philosophy as a lifestyle .
  19. I think from this post that we give to many F--ks about what others think about us .
  20. @Basman Yup which includes me 😅.
  21. @Basman No I am not talking about belief in God but rather using philosophy for reaching God by deconstructing beleifs ,assumptions ,thoughts. Since, God is experience as well tranquility is a closer state to God compared to emotional suffering. Even though not a person of spirituality by rather basic high quality self-help which includes things that maybe or may not be found in mainstream self-help.
  22. @Basman In my opinion philosophies like Stoicism(non-religious material ), Socratic Questioning(non-religious material ) and meditation (which in turn is a popularized by religion ) are genuine self-help materials compared to the shallow self-help culture which we see today.
  23. @PolyPeter ❤️
  24. @PolyPeter Thanks dude when I made the decision of acceptance of negative emotions like suffering ,jealousy I think it was one of the best decisions of my life . Whenever I feel it fully the emotional turmoil gets reduced significantly to the manageable extent.
