  1. I was surprised to find that there was only one Actualized video about new years resolutions! Even though it was from the old era of the channel, it helped me re-focus when it was released over 5 years ago. The channel has come SO FAR since that video and I think it would be a great benefit to revisit this subject. As a community we can revisit both the practical practices that we have cultivated and also share the insights that we've gained into the deeper nature of life. Here are some thoughts: Demand: I know @Leo Gura doesn't want to cover the same subject twice, but I don't think revisiting this subject would be redundant. This is an evergreen evolving subject which will grow as we grow. Now that the channel is moving towards bigger picture thinking and going meta, so can the coverage of this topic. I feel that you, Leo could do a great job of expressing the timeless nature of life, while also expressing how important goal setting and execution over time can be for self-actualizing. It's one of the only topics that I feel you could revisit every year without it feeling repetitive for your audience or for yourself. You are already doing the work every new year for yourself, just share a condensed review of your thought process with us. Goal setting: This was a big part of the original video, but it does not dive into the contemplative nature of reviewing your larger life goals. Commonplace book/note taking: This year I finally created my common place book and was able to look back on my new years resolution notes from 2020-2021. My goals this year were HUGE and I was surprised to see that I actually SURPASSED THEM. Now, with momentum on my side, I can feel the compounding effect of many years of contemplating my goals and working towards them. I am very pleased to be writing my second year of resolutions in my commonplace book, this year. Holism: This is an incredibly holistic subject. You can connect it to so many subjects which have already been covered. Commonplace book, Goal setting, Contemplation, Practice of Letting Go, Life Advice for young people, Life Purpose, Spiral Dynamics, Getting rich slowly (determination over time versus get rich quick traps) ect. ect. The list is extensive, I'm sure I have neglected many topics. What do you all think? Should Leo make an updated NEW YEAR video? What would YOU like to see in that video? Personally I am not necessarily looking for you, @Leo Gura to TELL us about YOUR goals and how much YOU have achieved, but rather to share the way you approach this subject from your level of awareness, both practically and meta. Much time has passed since you revisited this subject and you have grown in awareness. Ideally using you experiences only as a reference to strengthen the larger insight. Thats it for now, I might add to this post in the future and I will create a separate post with my personal story in the self-actualization section to start a conversation there. Happy New Year! Eric
  2. Interesting, @Joel3102 This might be worth a try first! I would have to uninstall the version I just bought. It seems like I should have started here before I bought anything
  3. Thanks for the tip! I did not see this yet in my research, so this is helpful. Im checking it out now!
  4. @Leo Gura Can we get to the meat of the discussion regarding local, cloud storage or both? Regardless of running Windows on an Apple device. The only reason I'm considering running windows is to gain the local storage function. I have no problem with cloud storage as a backup but it cant be the only storage, My first issue is that you are required to sign in using a Microsoft account in order to begin using the program. So thats already one boundary to accessing my data, regardless of if its stored locally. @Leo Gura Do you have to sign in to OneNote using your microsoft account with the OneNote'10 version you are using? Is there no way around this? Does it store locally AND on the cloud? Ive used cloud services like Dropbox and Googledrive for years. Most of my business and life relies on the Google server and Im already not comfortable with that. Im trying to invest in something more secure and seamless. Leo makes a very valid point as to why local storage is more resilient.
  5. @ajai To answer your first question: I did not purchase a mac for my commonplace book. Ive used this system my entire life. I chose apple as a young teenager because I am an artist, graphic designer and video producer among many other things. It was by far the better choice for an artist at the time. Started with an imac, then macbook pro and now a new macbook pro in order to keep the ability to transfer files from the older devices as I work on projects that span several years. Running windows is a means to an end, Just to be clear. You said you've been using it a long time now. Which version of MsNote are you using on what hardware?
  6. Hey Everyone, Im just started setting up the commonplace book that Leo describes in his video: Creating the Ultimate Journal. Im already running into problems running Leos suggested program "OneNote" on my Mac and thought it would be valuable to share my process for others here. Leo suggests buying an old copy of OneNote. I looked for a standalone copy of Onenote 16 for mac and all I could find in my area (sweden) is Onenote as part of the Office package. So I just bought a copy of Office 2016 thinking that it would have offline functionality and local file storage. However, I just discovered that my investment of 32.34 EUR might have been misinformed. 1. COST: First of all, I don't know if it was the case when Leo made the video, but Onenote is currently FREE to download from the app store. So theres no need to purchase it, at least in the beginning just to see if its right for you. You certainly dont have to buy Office just for Onenote. 2. OFFLINE STORAGE: Onenote was made available for Mac in 2014 and since then has been entirely based on cloud storage Microsofts "Onedrive". My research shows there was never a Onenote version for mac with local storage. You will always need to sign into your microsoft account to use the 2016/19 versions. Moving forwards: I have looked around for other programs that will work on Mac and haven't found anything that I want to try just yet. Searching Note programs leads to a wormhole of possibilities. Once you get picky about local storage, much of the language surrounding those programs is for those who understanding the coding behind it, which I don't. Running Windows On Mac: Leo mentions running windows on an apple device in his video about the ultimate journal. There are programs that allow you to run both simultaneously and this is what I am most likely going to try. Heres a guide to some programs that do it. https://www.lifewire.com/run-windows-on-a-mac-4155303 I like the idea of running Parallels so that I can always have OneNote open in the background and use it seamlessly. I have never attempted this before and am open to any advice about attempting this. It seems to me that this should work well, but I still want to contact the company to ask about the nitty gritty. For example, 1. will the program files stored locally on my drive be backed up with time machine? 2. Would there be any reason that this program combination isn't sustainable when I need to eventually switch to another computer in the future? After all the idea here is to create a robust and resilient personal database that be can add to and reference for the rest of our lives. Whatever we choose to create and store our commonplace books with should be as resilient as possible.
