  1. Learning expands your mental horizon, it increases both inner and outer possibilities in life. Just like traveling to a new country you never been before, exploration keeps the juices flowing. Time never stops, so standing still is actually moving backwards without noticing it.
  2. As long as you believe that space, time and matter are real, tangible things there will always be a missing ingredient which keeps it from making total sense. Whether it be in your personal life or science. You can say this missing ingredient is "God" or you can say that this reality you think you are inhabiting is not actually reality. The God thing to me is a cop out, it's like putting only three wheels on a car and rigidly wishing it won't fall over. But at the same time believing that the car HAS to be real. Even if the car is not a complete car. But maybe, the truth is that the three-wheeled car is only a certain perspective on the full four-wheeled car. Maybe our reality is missing the front-left wheel, maybe there is another perspective which is missing the right-back wheel. And maybe this is so because the full four-wheel car can't actually be seen or experienced at all. Saying God created 'me' is a very ego thing to say. Because it implies that this me is actually a thing in a separate space and that there is some hierarchy to beingness(God is higher than me). But hierarchy is actually an ego thing inside the illusion.
  3. Read Arnold Schwarzenegger's biography Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story. His life personifies the American Dream more than any American's life ever has. His life is going after your dreams ferociously, and having fun while doing it. It might inspire you, quite an entertaining read as well.
  4. Space, time and matter is all inside the illusion. When you are in the illusion, you can tell time to be whatever you want it to be. Under the illusion is truth, but you have to look carefully to see it The illusion is actually in image of Truth itself, it represents truth. Like an elaborate metaphor. And you can never 'know' truth, since from the perception of time the truth is always changing. When you think you know it, it changes. By trying to grab it, you lose it. You can always try ofcourse, but if the truth would let itself be captured by illusion it would flip over the roles. The truth would become the illusion and the illusion would become the truth.
  5. The now you are living in is the same as future and past, all part of the illusion. There is no moment and there is no one living it.
  6. You say entropy is the only constant. Constant in what? In the passage of time? If so, who or what is experiencing this so-called time?
  7. I like how you said how your mind had been captured by thoughts. It's really so that thinking and using your mind not a bad thing, it's just when you believe your thoughts to be real you can get into some serious trouble. When you believe them to be real, your mind can quickly put you into a tiny little box in which you feel trapped, helpless and miserable.
  8. Suffering is subjective, just like evil. When a baby cries because it's hungry, is it suffering? When I cry when I watch a sad movie am I suffering? When a fish is gasping because it has washed ashore, is it suffering? When I pick an apple of of a tree, does the tree suffer?
  9. So what do you guys define as a 'badass' exactly? To me a badass is being totally comfortable being yourself in social situations. But maybe you have a different idea?
  10. The OP assumes that there is such a thing as free will. That every thing we do is a calculated and self decided action, but this is just an illusion. Everything and everyone is motivated to reach the best optimal outcome in every given situation. The serial killer is making decisions which are the best thing he can do in that moment of his life. It's his life experiences which has shaped him to come to these actions. At the time he is doing his deeds he probably doesn't feel like he is doing something evil. From the perspective of a vegan, eating meat is evil, eating meat is the murder of sentient beings. But in the eyes of the average meat eater he does not feel guilty or evil when eating meat. It's all a matter of perspective. Just as there was a time when racism was completely normal and just plain 'common sense'; the white man was superior. The only thing we can do is make agreements about what we the majority finds 'evil'. Most people on this planet view murder and rape 'evil' in this day and age, we make these things get outlawed. But in nature, rape and murder is a pretty normal thing. Just another day in the jungle. When we travel a few years into the future the landscape of morality will look different than it is today. The universe never stops changing, including the people.
  11. This distinction seems really arbitrary to me. Nothing holds up as the truth, you will never be able to define it. Even if you are enlightened, a laptop is still going to be defined as a laptop. It's the underlying understanding that is aware that that laptop is not really as a separate thing, but part of the whole experience. Just going around and trying to decompose everything as untruthful might help you gain perspective, but the thing you consider as untruthful is actually part of the truth. The thing about not saying Hello to people because they might be murderers doesn't make much sense to me. That's just called prejudice. Life is about intention, if the intention of your action is pure, the consequence will also be pure(even if it doesn't initially seems to be so).
  12. The art of hard work is to make it feel like it is not hard work
  13. In my experience it's more beneficial to become mindful of how visualizations work in your daily life. Most people have images pop in their heads which affect them and they don't even realize it. Something pops up and all of the sudden they feel distracted or shitty and they don't even know why. At that moment they visualized something which directly influenced their experience, but because they weren't mindful of it the effect of that particular image stuck. Now if you start your day with good intentions and you do your visualization exercise to manifest a new car, at that moment it feels all good. You see yourself driving and enjoying your car etc. But then when you enter 'real life' your old images quickly take over and your early morning visualizations quickly become forgotten. Imo, the visualization only can work if you become mindful first of all the images your mind, unconsciously, produces. So that you can correct yourself and align yourself with your preferred vision again. The feeling--or "vibration"--you have during your exercises should also be the feeling you have during the day if you wish for it to be successful.
  14. I'm already too nerdy without dressing the part. Wearing such T-shirts would tip me over the top. I'll stick to my howling wolf and Metallica band t-shirts.
  15. If you want to go to college don't do a generic Business management, Social Studies, History, Art or something to that extent. If you have a interest in that might as well do your own studies from books, internet, library etc. Will save you a lot of useless time and money. Only go if you have an interest in something in which you actually need to do practical stuff which requires some detailed instruction. Things like Med school, Engineering, Computer Science(even though you can learn to program on your own), Architecture etc. The worst thing you can(I speak from experience) is go to college because it is expected of you. I ended up with a degree I don't like plus a nice student debt. Only go if you are passionate about the subject.
  16. Reaching mastery in a certain area will always yield benefits. Even if it doesn't make you a millionaire, it will teach you so much about yourself and the world it makes it easy to roll on to the next step of your life. Your mind is just procrastinating right now, it will always finds ways to not pursue a certain path because: there might be people better than you, people might not like it, you might not like it, you might be too late or too early etc. There is never a right time for something. Follow the thing you are passionate about and let the chips fall where they may, you'll be grateful for doing so in the end.
  17. Haha so many different opinions and interpretations of these concepts. My take on it: Your higher self are the parts of you which are aligned with the "Eternal divine". It's the part of you that: -Sees no difference between you and other -Loves everything and everyone unconditionally -Does not take itself too seriously, nor does it play itself down -Does not cling to the material -Welcomes constant change in its experience/going with the flow -Wants to explore all the possibilities life has to offer Now your lower self wants to put life as an organism into stone. It wants to freeze time and matter so it can indulge itself in it. When the lower self can put things into stone it feels a sense of power and control over it. The lower self is stone itself, so it tries to turn its environment into stone as well so it can feel safe. The lower self is: -It sees itself as a separate entity -Wants to amass as much as "stuff" as possible for himself -Wants to feel safe by shielding itself off from the rest of experience -It does not care about your future plans or desires, only if it endangers his beingness in the present may it come into action. Now the Authentic Self might be the healthy balance between the Higher and the Lower self. We all need a bit of selfishness to be someone in this world, we simply can't demonize everything the lower self has to offer. It might be wreaking havoc in a lot of people lives but there is a lesson to be learned in it. Someone said our life is a spiritual being that is having a human experience, in that light it makes sense that the manifestation of it shows both human and "eternal" qualities. Like the devil and the angel on our shoulders, except the devil on our shoulder isn't necessarily all bad. It just needs to find its right place.
  18. Self love is a good start. But you can't really unconditionally love yourself if you don't do the same to other, since ultimately you and other are the same. You have to love the totality of being.
  19. I think for most people the problem is the fear to explore new territories rather than arrogance. The fear of becoming lost, the fear of looking like a fool in unknown territory. Life is an exploration and without a map we quickly feel we will be lost when we don't look on it.
  20. Why fap when you can have sex? If the answer is you can't get someone to have sex with you, there you have the thing you want to fix. Not the fact you either should fap or not, the issue with fapping is simply the manifestation of the inability to attract a sexual mate. This inability probably stems from deeper self esteem issues, these issues are probably not related to fapping.
  21. The irony of this topic made me chuckle
  22. Follow your passion, passion always finds a way. If you can't immediately find a way to monetize your passion just keep doing your job while working on your passion in your free time. It's all how you frame it. You can bitch and moan about your current job or just see it as a temporary step up that currently pays the bills to something better. But you should be sure the new thing is a thing you are really passionate about. If not, it will become such a grind as your current job when the shininess of change wears off. If you are already talking about 2 hours being a lot of effort you are going to have a hard time in the competitive world of internet blogs, lol.
  23. The most unselfish way to change the world is to pursue your highest selfish desires. It's your vibration that changes the world, not your actions. Actions are quickly forgotten, your vibration lives on forever.
  24. In stead of calling your perceived reality a Creation it's probably more accurate to call it an Expression. Like an expressionistic painting is the expression of the subconscious mind of the painter. The painter and the painting are the same thing, the painter is exploring it's own mind and possibilities in abstract forms and shapes projected with paint on a blank canvas. A good painter can paint things he didn't even know were in his mind, it was inconceivable until expressed. "You" started out as a single cell and grew to the fully fledged human being you are today. That cell contained information to become the multi-celled organism you are today. The thing you consider you is a part of the expression of the information in the DNA of your cells. Of course, in conjunction with "external" influences. The internal and the external data you have come across are like two ideas intersecting to create a new idea, a new and unique way of expression.
