The guy experienced what he called a "mindgasm" and attributed it to his knowledge of science which, as the theme suggests, saved him from religion. I can appreciate his antagonistic attitude to some extent, but I think he'd also appreciate the depths of "inner" uncovery and/or expressions of psychonauts if he truly got into it. Perhaps he'd even have another "mindgasm". Fun video anyway, and I've shared it with a few religious folks I've known in the past just to see what they'd say. It got interesting, and for various reasons. I've also always been absolutely amazed and in awe of nature in all its manifestations. Just thought I'd share it as it came to mind today after many years.

If there's a word for you It doesn't mean anything I've got some words for you They don't offer anything You cold called everybody But you haven't sold a thing A bad idea gone funny A pinch felt in a dream You thought of everything But some things can't be thought You thought of everything But one thing you forgot is you're wrong And you better not be angry And you better not be sad You better just enjoy the luxury of sympathy If that's a luxury you have And you know no private bad You know that that's the meaning of you're done In a world that's not so bad In a world time was killing in the sun In a world that's not so bad In a world time was killing in the sun In the sun In the sun You took all that moment and kicked it in the sun Now it's gone because you left it in the sun Was a brave idea Didn't mean no harm Now it's burnt because you left it in the sun Was a grave mistake But how could you have known The temperature The distance of the sun

What is primary should always be clearly seen first. There will be time for re-acquainting with the teachings, compassion, and all that jazz. First thing, get clear. It can be a very difficult adjustment and things will be said, peeps will be taken aback, but so be it. Don't put the cart before the donkey. -

I like you and sense your integrity and sincerity. My pattern is woven with a bit more of the speerchally incorrect thread, I reckon. All good. He will see what you've attempted to point at once he gets the F outta that goddamn cave! Been asleep in there tooo long!! ? -

I love Plato's Cave allegory! Imo, a majority of the conditioned thoughts are usually clawing at and pulling one back into the cave. I do not know the terrain of that mind, and I generally distrust such conditioned patterns at this point in time. At this point, I'm condoning using them as fuel on the torches to light the way.... to be a torch unto one's self. ? ? -

@Someone here @Moksha means well. He just has a respect for the teachings. Don't look for agreement. Doesn't matter. Keep on burning. -

Not saying it is. Just never underestimate the power of delusion. Thoughts are sticky, tricky, and have a momentum. ? -

I sense that @Someone here has burned down the house and is seeing the moon for the first time clearly. He just doesn't want to chance deluding himself... he's had enough of that. Clarity shines brightly, burning all sorts of crap. 'S okay. Burn it all, I dare say. Only One will remain. ? Eternal -

I do understand what you are saying. And, interestingly, it is often darkest before the dawn. I also think that @Someone here gets that, too. He's just rejecting concepts, labels, and old ways of thought that once clouded and mystified the pathless path. It comes into deeper clarity, effortlessly, when at Oneness. -

Most of what is known in a cerebral capacity is just conditioned knowledge about the appearances and/or skill in manipulating them. Some knowledge is more aligned with what is actually appearing and/or theoretically verifiable, while other forms of knowledge/opinion... not so much. I think what @Someone here is alluding to here is that all such knowledge comes crashing down as the mind is seen for what it is... not primary. Prior to that realization, very little of what the mind throws up as distraction could even be considered "useful knowledge" in the search, even though it may be the best one's got at that point. Gotta act, anyway. The mind is used to being the master, not the tool. Getting to that realization can get quite messy, as can re-training the mind in its actual capacity, which requires one to abide as non-dual Awareness/Consciousness, lest one slip back into the deluded dream of separateness. Edit: for messed up logic and wording written in haste. -
@Gili Trawangan From what I just read, I probably won't be going back. When I went, GA was the epitome of peaceful and chilled. I used to get up at the crack of dawn just to circumnavigate the island before the other 5-10 tourists awoke, hehe. I can see the allure of @LfcCharlie4 's plan. Bali is a beautiful island, if not a bit run over by farang. Such is modern life, though, and it remains relative to the touch!

@Striving for more Better to not go across ANY international border compromised in that way. Jussayin'...

@Gili Trawangan Yes, for many travelers, SE Asia is a better comfort zone. You're right; there may indeed be some border issues at this time in history. Good point. I assume your avatar pic is from one of the gorgeous islands of that area? Nice. Edit: Just realized your avatar name, hehe. I spent time on Gili Air waaay back when.

@Striving for more If low on cash and just needing a place to live while you pursue next stage, why stay in Europe? I lived in certain parts of Asia for much cheaper than anything found in the EU, and lived quite well. I was a bit extreme as a shoestring traveler at times, but there are plenty of levels of desired comfort anyone can explore. Maybe it's a visa thing. Feel free to ask for ideas if curious.

Well I walk upon the river like it's easier than land Evil's in my pocket and your will is in my hand Oh, your will is in my hand And I'll throw it in the current that I stand upon so still Love is all, from what I've heard, but my heart's learned to killOh, mine has learned to kill Oh, I said I could rise From the harness of our goals Here come the tears But like always, I let them go Just let them go And now spikes will keep on falling from the heavens to the floor The future was our skin and now we don't dream anymoreNo, we don't dream anymore Like a house made from spider webs and the clouds rolling in I bet this mighty river's both my savior and my sin Oh, my savior and my sin Oh, I said I could rise From the harness of our goals Here come the tears But like always, I let them go Just let them go Well I walk upon the river like it's easier than land Evil's in my pocket and your strength is in my hand Your strength is in my hand And I'll throw you in the current that I stand upon so still Love is all, from what I've heard, but my heart's learned to kill Oh, mine has learned to kill Oh, I said I could rise From the harness of our goals Here come the tears But like always, I let them go Just let them go

Yes, he has a very practical, down-to-earth expression. The simplicity, ironically, is overwhelming for the mind. To “find” what cannot be lost seems paradoxical to the mind, but as you say/allude to, it is pre-verbal awareness that Knows that only the mind, full of the past, the fear, the desire for “more”, the endless conditions for happiness, etc. cannot understand. Sat-Chit-Ananda

Science, as a whole, seems to start with the premise that stuff exists, and some of it becomes conscious and, therefore, can "possess consciousness". It kinda snorta has its own conditioning, as a system of thought. 'S okay, no biggie. In Truth, all exists in/as Consciousness. <to which science rolls its eyes> Whoopsy daisy.

I answered you're question directly. But, sure, I'll leave this thread if you really think it helps you find the specific answer you're looking for. G'luck, man. -

Answerers beware. He's no longer asking for things that can be judged as "inner guru" speak. He just wants folks to read into and get lost in the nuances of the questions in order to feel the confusion. ? The confusion simply arises from mind, with its conditioned patterns. And most are used to figuring stuff out.... with their minds. -

Yes, it is interesting why peeps believe. But, that's not a question about God, Truth, non-duality that you began with. It's a question about why does conditioned thinking give rise to such apparent beliefs. Why questions about the former are misconceived, while questions about the latter are about the apparent phenomenal world of the drama. The confusion you spoke of originally was mixing up the two. Are you confused? -

@Gesundheit What Is sees these both as conceptual notions. Pointing attempts to arrest the mind, if not for just a glimpse of what IT IS, completely free of the mind's gravity. To be clear, you are approaching this identified with the mind's constructs. The words used to point are flying by. The more you think, the more you will fail, but that is OK... such futility is required, apparently. neti neti -

The questions seem to be wrestling with the mind-made conceptions and conclusions about what God, consciousness, and non-duality are VERSUS what they are truly Realized to actually Be. Anyone can read and think about them and just decide they are "truth", but that will not settle the division that still exists in one's mind... and subsequently still identifies with/as. The sum of parts will not realize Wholeness. It is the questions that give rise to the search. They will linger on and on, sometimes with intensity and sometimes with brief and very revealing realizations.. That last step back, looking for broader AND more in-depth look, is a doozy. There is no "other".
