Under "History": "The paper was founded in 1994 by Republican power broker and New York businessman Jerry Finkelstein and Martin Tolchin, a former correspondent for The New York Times." "Eventually Solomon was rebranded as an opinion contributor. In March 2018 he published an interview and series of columns that promoted a conspiracy theory regarding Ukraine advanced by associates of Rudy Giuliani." "In January 2019, WarnerMedia's CNN reported that Finkelstein was interfering in the editorial independence of the paper in an inappropriate way to minimize criticism of American President Donald Trump. They reported that staff were "in revolt" over Finkelstein's ownership style." "The same report claimed a senior Hill employee told Politico that Jimmy Finkelstein attended the second 2016 presidential debate as a Trump campaign guest." "In June 2020, Politico reported that Jimmy Finkelstein's wife, Pamela Gross, was involved in getting Melania Trump acclimated to living and working in the White House. Gross' unpaid arrangement was not disclosed in the several dozen articles The Hill published about the First Lady while Gross was advising her from August 2017 to February 2018, nor were more than a select few Hill employees informed that their boss' wife was an East Wing adviser."

The Hill seems to be pro Trump and republican. So those videos are complete garbage then. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hill_(newspaper)

This is a recurrent thing which I get every now and then. I'm asleep, then I get a strong sensation that I'm flying without control like crazy (no visuals), I feel terror and I struggle, and then the weirdest thing: I see a pair of eyes. And then I wake up. I'm not sure about the correct order, maybe I see the eyes first, and then the other stuff happens. The thing about the eyes is weird because I see them visually. I can't see that way in dreams. So because of that I know that the eyes thing isn't just a normal dream, there's something more to it, it has a good chunk of reality to it. But I can't see any details about the eyes. It's quite scary when it happens. What could it be?

Notice how you are only seeing it from your perspective as a parent.

Omg. No I don't agree. Countless people with bad lives have became enlightened.

I'll just add: according to Ramana Maharshi, the entire universe, including perceptions, are thoughts. So if thoughts cease, the universe disappears, according to him. He might be right. -

Well, whatever. Thanks for telling me that you love me. I don't think it's true though, but it still feels good to hear. Whatever. Yes, not everything are thoughts. Perceptions aren't. But whatever. You guys can keep thinking that thoughts are nothing and that they don't have any effect on your lives etc. -
Blackhawk replied to Elshaddai's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
No. What you are saying are thoughts (and beliefs). -

1. Getting oranges for Christmas= fact. 2. Liking or disliking oranges= emotions. 3. And then comes all the thoughts. -
Blackhawk replied to Elshaddai's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That just confirms what I'm saying. Everything is thoughts, our lives are thoughts. No one can write a reply in this thread without thoughts. I think the emotion is leading. But there's something prior to emotion too: fact is prior to emotion. For example if you get thrown into a fire. Burning in a fire= fact. Horror= emotion. "This is awful, I don't want to die like this." etc.= thought. -------------------- Or 1. being completely alone and unlikable= fact. 2. Sadness and crying inside= emotion. 3. "This is hell, I don't want to live anymore."= thought. -

What you said is a thought. When that happy stuff is going on you're having happy thoughts. -
Blackhawk replied to Elshaddai's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That's just empty words, because no one can live a life without thoughts. Your life is ruled by thoughts. Let's be real and honest. -

Thoughts freak me out. I don't want to think about it.. They have no substance, they come and go from nowhere. And we don't have control over them. Yet they are so powerful and rule our lives. They are like magic.. They should freak out everyone. -

I forgot this quote. I love this quote too: "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent." - R.D. Laing

Exactly. Or dismiss them as having a "victim mindset". That's the favorite hobby which succesful people have. They walk around everyday and all day long tell everyone who aren't as fortunate as them that they have a victim mindset.

No it's not the case for 95% of humans. But let's agree to disagree.
-
If that's the case for you, great, but it's not the case for everyone.
-
But don't you think it's problematic when your happiness creates suffering for someone else? If you don't think it's problematic: then you think rape is fine?

I think that's why people get children. And then those children will be unhappy as adults, so they too have to make children in an attempt to get happy. And those children too will be unhappy as adults, so they too have to make children in an attempt to get happy. Repeat forever. In my opinion it's selfish. But again, that's just my stupid little opinion.

I think it's better to not bring more living beings to existence. Yes, logically, people should, but maybe not all people. That's my personal little opinion. Feel free to disagree. I hope I'm allowed to say this opinion. It's very politically incorrect to say it but.. it is what it is.. sorry. There are probably a few people who have a pleasant life which is worth living. The problem is that we are equipped with a integrated strong survival instinct. Which wins over pretty much anything, rationality, etc. So because of that you can get trapped in life, even if you don't want to live. It's like a prison. -------------------- "There is but one truly serious philosophical problem and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy. All the rest — whether or not the world has three dimensions, whether the mind has nine or twelve categories — comes afterwards. These are games; one must first answer." - Albert Camus -------------------- "If I were to be totally sincere, I would say that I do not know why I live and why I do not stop living. The answer probably lies in the irrational character of life which maintains itself without reason." "Nothing is better proof of how far humanity has regressed than the impossibility of finding a single nation, a single tribe, among whom birth still provokes mourning and lamentations." "I long to be free—desperately free. Free as the stillborn are free." "Without the faculty of forgetting, our past would weigh so heavily on our present that we should not have the strength to confront another moment, still less to live through it. Life would be bearable only to frivolous natures, those in fact who do not remember." "Better to be an animal than a man, an insect than an animal, a plant than an insect, and so on." "Salvation? Whatever diminishes the kingdom of consciousness and compromises its supremacy." - Emil M. Cioran I think in most cases there is more suffering and struggle than joy.

Exactly.

Well, no one can be completely selfless. But the concept is cool. And he seems like a good guy.

I don't care about SD nonsense. But dude, yes he is making money, but he is also giving away money. What's wrong with that? There's many who only make money, without giving anything.
