  1. Correct, the purpose of the thread is to identify the biggest, core problems/traps young men fall into. Great question. False dream: when a music artist creates music spouting about drugs and sex and fast cars and success, as if that is true fulfillment, and going to make someone happy. (not that those things are bad,) I dont see that being the dream life. Those are some really good points about Music. Thank you for sharing. There are! Definitely, once again specifically talking about traps and problems not the solution, YET.
  2. All for commitments and devotion to something worthy of it. I am curious. Why? Is this job a reflection of your values and strengths?
  3. Damn. That's freaking beautiful. thank you for sharing!
  4. How long has it taken to arrive at the routine you currently hold? Wake up: 7-9 A.M (Depending on bedtime) Go for a 20ish minute walk, drink 40 oz water during. Play/create Music: 30-60 minutes on work days, 60-120 minutes on off days. Meditation on pad: 20-30 minutes. Meditation on couch: 20-30 minutes. Read: 30 Minutes. Check phone, eat, get on with my day
  5. My Life purpose is to play Music, guiding people into states of loving introspection, revealing their true nature. I’ve been producing music on my own for the past 2.5 years, and have over decade of classical/fiddle violin and 5+ years composition experience from my early life. As my eyes open to the possibilities of this life purpose, I realize “I lack necessary skill to add massive value to the world.” And so a search to find the most effective methods of career capitols acquisition begins and continues. Career capitol is “the skills you have that are both rare and valuable and that can be used as leverage in defining your career.” (From Cal Newports book, So good they can’t ignore you) here are the methods I have come across - Produce my own music, mix, master, sing the whole shebang (already doing this) - Produce music for others - Offer services (production) on Upwork or Fiverr - Get an internship at a local music production studio. - Eventually get a job at said music studio (this is the route I am leani my towards) - Buy courses on specific skills (mixing, mastering, singing, Ableton live, and so on) - Buy coaching/lessons - Busk (play on the streets/ live performance in cities) - Live performance - Go to Music school Anything you see that I am missing? Perspective appreciated!
  6. Authenticity is my top value, to be truthful, Self Loving, aligned with my values and strengths, and expressive in an honest, sincere way. Is that important to you? How did it become important to you? Do you see that as important to others? Why, or why not?
  7. What does Financial Freedom mean TO YOU? Why is Financial freedom valuable to you? In the process of building a vision for my own Financial Freedom, and want to see what reasons there are to value it. You may have some I may have forgotten, perspective appreciated!
  8. In doing research for my business, I have been developing a list of qualities associated with authenticity. some of these are definitions that I have thought about and "come up with" but many of them coming from articles online. A concept of personality in the fields of psychology, existential psychotherapy, existential philosophy, and aesthetics In existentialism: Authenticity is the degree to which a persons actions are congruent with their values an desires, despite external pressures to social conformity. Authenticity in art: A work of art that is faithful to the values of the artist. Un the field of psychology: authenticity identifies a person living n accordance with their TRUE SELF, personal values, rather than according to the external demands of society, such as social conventions, duty, and tradition. Independent thought, thinking for ones self. Knowing ones self. Values Desires Strengths Avoiding herd mentality, standing alone. Reliable, accurate representation The individual takes responsibility for proactively shaping their beleifs, then the be willing to act on those beliefs. To say that something is authentic is to say that it is what it professes to be, or what it is reputed to be, in origin or authorship Authenticity describes a person who acts in accordance with desires, motives, ideals or beliefs that are not only hers (as opposed to someone else’s), but that also express who she really is. Integrated Whole True to ones self, for one's own benefit. Independent of external and psychological pressure. "Language of personal resonance" "Not just being involved in the authorship of such a law, but about how this law fits with the wholeness of a person’s life, and how or whether it expresses who the person is." - (Menke 2008) Inner connection Intuition Introspective examination of one’s inner motives, values, intentions and conscience. Inward and Upward. Becoming what one IS. Being ones Own. Owning up, owning what one does. Human being is a “relation of being”, a relation that obtains between what one is at any moment (the immediacy of the concrete present as it has evolved) and what one can and will be as the temporally extended unfolding or happening of life into an open realm of possibilities. To the extent that our lives are unowned or disowned, existence is inauthentic (uneigentlich), not our own (eigen). to realize the capacity for authenticity, one must undergo a personal transformation a relation between two aspects or dimensions making up human existence. Intrinsic motivation and desire. standing up for and standing behind what one does—as owning and owning up to one’s deeds as an agent in the world—becomes possible in this sort of resolute commitment to the “for the sake of which” of one’s existence Anything you would add to this list?
  9. I am a freelancer Music producer/Melody creator. Very new to it. SEO is looking to be very important for finding clients, any resources you know of to deepen my understanding of it?
  10. So far, I have had one client message me, progress! This idea of freelancing has lead to an even better, more innovative, creative, wholly scary possibility. Starting an actual business! not just freelancing, but creating a business. Updates to come
  11. A journey, ups and downs, of my first, real, business. I’m tired. Of going to a job that doesn’t fulfil me, if spending the best hours of my day, doing mindless, repetitive work, of being reduced to a cog in a machine. I’m tired of looking to an external source for meaning and impact. I work in a kitchen, cooking food that hurts peoples bodies, cooking food is not meaningful to me, this is not how I want to live my life. I’m tired of being in a stressful environment, where my co workers hate their job, but can’t admit it, where gossip is normal, and negativity runs rampant. so I strike out alone. To become a successful freelance music producer. Why? I’ll find a way Why? Authenticity, Music, Wisdom. To be free.
  12. Thanks for pointing that out! I dont even have a basic website. Big hole in my strategy.
  13. Interesting perspective, thanks for sharing! definitely still in the brainstorming stage, so this perspective does help.
  14. Damn. Thank you! that's a ton of resources!
  15. Being authentic is often more challenging than not. I definitely agree with you there. That's a great example with the doormat. I think its a definitive problem, some people will say authenticity is one thing, others will say something else. This. Well said. Thanks for sharing!
  16. I see correlation between what you are saying and my own life, coincidence? This is so good. Well spoken. How do you think we can show others how high of a priority it is? What is the balance of love needed to help others see how valuable it is, the vision of living authentically, the value of being true to ones self?
  17. Stop with this nonsense dude. You're just parroting Leo.
  18. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, I double down on Love. I dont know what is next I dont know who I am I do not know how I will become financially free I dont even know how to commit to that vision. But I choose love, and I trust that it will guide me through the fear I face
  19. My Life purpose (as it stands) is to play music that guides people into states of LOVING introspection, revealing their true nature. I see others, and myself, as often afraid to look honestly at the self, our beliefs and deceptions, our own bullshit, do you face fear as well? If you answered Yes to the question, what would it take for you to have the courage to Introspect? If you answered no, Why not?
  20. @Someone here This is going to sound rude, but dont take this the wrong way, I mean it with love. What I see happening from a big picture with your posts, is. 1. Post a statement about who you are, or your point of view. 2. Explain your logic behind why you think what you think. A story. 3. Debate people that disagree. It seems that you post these not to understand deeper, or to be open to different perspectives, but instead to re-affirm that what you believe is true. I could be wrong, I have been before, I dont know you personally, but I do know that there is a lot more to who you are than is shown through your posts. I want to understand why you come to the forum and say the things you say. Are you searching for deeper a understanding? Why do you post anything on here at all?
  21. Well.. Life is full of difficult truths, and so is business. Here is what I face. 1. No one cares about my product. 2. Marketing and sales is way more important than even I assumed. 3. One idea isn't enough, I need ten twenty, thirty, 100 ideas before I find one that works in the market place. 4. it may be years before I am financially free. Its all good though! I feel so energized and excited, I am finally DOING SOMETHING!! not just theorizing and acting like I am making progress.
  22. Interesting! How did that start? Were you always trying to debunk yourself even as a kid? THANK YOU! I am really glad you enjoyed it, its just the beginning, so thanks for the positivity.
  23. I can tell you are very passionate about Music, your relationship to yourself and others, and how Music can help people process and integrate trauma. I think that's beautiful. First and foremost, how has music helped your process trauma? More and more I see that the music I make will help others, but first it will help me to learn to love myself and be more authentic, while giving me a way to contemplate and process my trauma and difficulty on this path. in the future, I want to give that to others as a gift. Love hearing your explain your impact on others. To clarify. When I said "I want to forge a new path in the music industry, to be a successful independent artist that creates music that thousands and millions of people are drawn to. A star." I wasn't thinking about Money of fame. obviously I Want to be financially free, but that's not the reason WHY I want to play music and share it with the world. Being a star, I mean it more literally, a bright shining light in the night sky which is a luminescent body in the distance. I mean shining as brightly as I can, to illuminate the consciousness of myself, then others. in the kind of way that Leo is a star, or a really good friend can be a star to you. Connection is the key, Love. That we have in similarity. Did you always know music was your heart? Film score ? do you want to write for films as well? Every day. thanks for the thoughtful response @VioletFlame
  24. Do you experience any fear while looking within, into the "belly of the beast"?
