  1. When you look at the large number of high-level famous and powerful men that Epstein was friends with, I can come up with only two explanations: 1) he had the charisma and charm of Benjamin Franklin, or 2) he had access to underage women.
  2. People have been doing full lotus for thousands of years. They lived in societies where people didn’t have chairs and would squat, which naturally opens the hips. It was probably chosen because it was so comfortable and highly stable. Today, people use chairs which ruins their backs and posture. If anything is bad for your health, it’s a chair.
  3. You have to do a general hip opening routine to gradually work up to it. That includes stretching the adductors and external hip rotator muscles. Include the prayer squat and pigeon stretch. I had a yoga instructor tell me that the lotus position is something that should be possible for a normal person. In other words, you don’t have to be double jointed or anything unusual. It’s the best position for advanced meditators because it is so stable and doesn’t put undue pressure on any part of the body, allowing it to be held hours at a time.
  4. Believing in science is just as much a product of one’s environment (education) as religion. A secularist has a sense of superiority over the superstitious Christian. If you think about it a while, you will see that this is the exact equivalent of a Christian believing the secularist is lost because he doesn’t know Jesus. Believing your system is the correct viewpoint is human nature.
  5. I have never been that impressed by Neil deGrasse Tyson. He is a media star and an evangelist of Scientism who preaches that science is the only path of true knowledge. The true believers of the head demand correct epistemology. As for scientists, the ground breaking scientists who developed quantum mechanics studied Hindu scriptures: Erwin Schrodinger, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Robert Oppenheimer, David Bohm. They are a magnitude above the elite scientist category.
  6. I think the best use of the medicines is in healing. For example, I have a friend who uses ayahuasca to help him live with fibromyalgia. Of course, healing and spirituality are inseparable. Psychedelics capture your imagination and can use your memory to simulate an awakening experience, but not the real thing
  7. He is missing the direct experience of truth. His intelligence just rearranges the available concepts. The sages of the East developed technologies such as meditation to give direct experience. If you are limited to concepts, it’s garbage in garbage out.
  8. It was always a conspiracy theory. The right-wing used conspiracy theories to get Trump elected. Now, the administration is just doing a song and dance and hoping it goes away, since it was fake all along. Alex Jones is a scum bag and an excuse for a human being, but has become very good at propaganda.
  9. It makes me wonder whether America is transitioning to direct rule by billionaires, with Trump and Elon Musk as examples. Usually the big money keeps invisible and just buys off all the politicians.
  10. This might be a realistic target to give him a powerful voice given the amount of money he has. "Musk, the world’s richest man, suggested Friday that the new party could focus “on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts.”" https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/05/elon-musk-america-party-democrats-trump.html
  11. All this tough guy theatrics shows an underlying insecurity about America’s crumbling role in the world and the pending dominance of China. It’s the same as Andrew Tate’s thug persona. The projection of strength. But it is all theater. Real strength doesn’t need the clown show. But they are now destroying the lives of people in the US who are doing the jobs nobody else wants to and rounding them up. Being a bully to those who can’t fight back is safe for the coward.
  12. He's a quack. But knows how to use youtube and get likes.
  13. I believe it’s incorrect to call Trump a conservative. He is outside the conventional political system and more of a reactionary. It’s similar to Hitler, who was not a conservative. The German aristocracy were the conservatives. Hitler ran against the conservatives just like Trump did. Reagan was a conservative and stayed within the political decorum and the constitution. I agree with the video where the speaker said woke is not green. It was distorted wokism (also with authoritarian tendencies) that empowered Trump. Trump’s expansion of ICE into a federal police is setting up the infrastructure of an authoritarian state. In American politics, respect for the constitution is part of conservatism/liberalism. We are headed into new territory.
  14. He goes further than that. He emphasizes having direct experience of the truth, otherwise it is just another belief as you have stated it.
  15. Most people are afraid of hard work and discipline. I like the concept of “sadhana”, a disciplined practice, daily aimed at achieving a spiritual goal. In some Tibetan schools before you are even allowed to meditate, you have to do 100,000 prostrations. They say that it permanently chases out the laziness.
  16. I was really impressed on how Governor Newsom stood up to Trump. He really knows how to speak and looks like a president. When it comes time for democrats to pick him or Vance, it won’t be a hard decision
  17. I am not sure what is hard left, but I think that it is obvious that catering to special interest groups like the trans issue had an effect. On the last day of the election Republicans ran ads saying something like “we are for you, not for they”. So, that is what the Republicans believed would be effective. And the right wing has a sophisticated media that magnifies the drag queen images which to millions of conservative Christians brings up instant images of Sodom and Gomorrah (irrelevant if it is true or not). I think Bernie Sander’s tour protesting the oligarchy was setting the right message – let’s make an economy that works for everyone. We are all one and not an assortment of special identities. I also like Governor Newsom for trying to move back to the center. I honestly don’t see Trump’s policies over time are going to be that popular, it was that poor optics made him look like the lessor of two evils to many people.
  18. I think Peter Ralston’s books have a lot of valuable information. His ability to articulate self identity and the deconstruction process is amazing. I think for many it is more profitable to read his teachings than most of the snake oil salesmen non-duality teachers regurgitating dogma they have probably not experienced themselves or speaking from states of disassociation. One thing Ralston may be missing is that he is not a psychotherapist. I think most of us really need a form of effective psychotherapy to decondition emotional damage done to us as children before we can even attempt awakening. Here is an example of a psychotherapy approach that is spirituality informed and addresses the root problems to decondition the mind. Unlocking the Emotional Brain https://www.amazon.com/dp/1032139129/?coliid=I177N3JQEKYX97&colid=13EUWLGDUZI1U&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it_im In conclusion, Ralston doesn’t have a complete path, but is useful if part of a tool kit. The other thing is you have to actually pick out some of his teachings and actively practice. Just reading a book doesn’t provide any value. Criticism based on just reading is not useful or convincing.
  19. I have been looking into a course called Finders by Dr. Jeffrey A Martin. He conducted a major international study on exploring “persistent non-symbolic experience” encompassing enlightenment, non duality and unitive consciousness. Dr. Martin’s research revealed that any one technique doesn’t work for all people. He recommends trying different techniques until you find the one that works for you. Peter Ralston and Tolle may be genetic freaks, but that doesn’t mean their technique will work for you. If Ralston’s technique doesn’t work for you then don’t waste time. Find something else. Also some of us need deconditioning, like trauma therapy, because the trauma blocks you from growing spiritually – psychology and spiritual growth are connected. You can’t separate them. You can meditate all you want and it won’t help you. It is just a waste of time. I have been meditating for 20 years. The Finders by Dr. Jeffery A Martin. Another book I have just begun to read is “Consciousness and the Unbound Body” by Judith Blackstone. She goes into the connection between Trauma and awakening.
  20. Mersheimer came up with some fascinating facts. He said that the Shah of Iran was interested in developing nuclear weapons and at the time Netanyahu thought that it was a good idea. He further speculated that if the son of the Shah of Iran was reinstated, he would probably develop nuclear weapons because it makes sense strategically. It shows that the whole nuclear weapons thing is a big red herring. Here is a summary from chatgpt: "Yes, it's true that the Shah of Iran showed significant interest in nuclear technology during his reign in the 1970s, and it's also true that there were discussions in Israel, including from figures like Benjamin Netanyahu, that seemed to support Iran’s nuclear ambitions—at the time—when Iran and Israel were allies."
  21. Iran doesn't want war. They have been bending over backwards to avoid it.
  22. I stopped listening to that professor when he said that America is going to invade Iran. Click bate.
  23. Towards the end (42.30) he says that the US will invade Iran. There is no way that’s going to happen. The US couldn’t even subdue Afghanistan after 20 years and is deeply in debt. Trump has already pulled back and says he is not seeking regime change. He is right in the first half. Workers had a higher standard of living before the manufacturing was transferred to China making the globalists trillionaires thanks to labor arbitrage. That is the impulse behind the creation of MAGA – people started noticing that their politicians aren’t listening to anything they say anymore and people can no longer afford to have children. So who is the government serving? It’s not the people. It’s the controllers of financial capital.
  24. That actually came from the World War II generation. The justifications came from the Truman administration. I don't know if the boomers really bought it. Also, 70 scientists at the Manhattan Project opposed its use and signed the Szilard Petition asking Truman to consider other alternatives.
  25. This forum attracts people who are stuck in their heads (including me). If you are a Christian then you love and forgive. The theology is fairly useless. “Enlightenment” also turns into another concept. Blah Blah Blah.
