  1. The ego of course, as long as you identify with it, you'll be following any and all thoughts.
  2. It was framed in a negative way by labeling it "DPDR". On the plus side, all (ruminating) thoughts have no energy behind them anymore, any stress I might have had with work, family, is reduced to being nonexistent. It's not so bad after all I think I'll try and go deeper into the no person state, what's the worst that could happen. Might be Reality is showing me something...
  3. So I'm having a bit of DPDR for the last 2 days, and while it can cause some negative mental states, I'm working with it to see it as a positive. Could be as a result of meditation where I'm seeing through the ireality of the ego, this DPDR state it is seen as a negative. It's an opportunity to Love (accept unconditionally) whatever arises, including DPDR Another useful pointer is that I'm the Awareness that is aware of this state, and not the state itself. Any other suggestions?
  4. @electroBeam , do you have any grounding techniques, that keep you in the present moment? When you become aware that you're lost in thought, you can apply and snap out of it. I'm not experiencing fear like you, but I can get ruminating thoughts about various things. When I become conscious of that, I have a little script prepared that I go through, which leads to breaking the chain of thought. It goes like this for me - each line I 'feel' deep with my whole body Let go of control Let go of the past Let go of egoic thought stories Surrender to what is Love whatever arises You can find what works for you in letting go, fear, illusion etc and build an automatic response when the fear and accompanying thoughts arise again. It needs some repetition practice in the beginning , but after that it's almost subconscious
  5. @anaj, how do you perceive other people, when you see/hear them? How is the collapse of subject object duality working in this instance. Are they also aspects of you?
  6. It is not happening TO consciousness, it IS consciousness. Even if it's just a name for 'happening', that name can be whatever. Consciousness, Reality, God, etc Ego, the "I" thought is just a thought, it is perceived by and in Consciousness.
  7. There is no seer and no seen, there is only seeing There is no hearer and no heard, there is only hearing There is no feeler and no felt, there is only feeling There is no taster and no tasted, there is only tasting There is no smeller and no smelled, there is only smelling There is no thinker and no thought, there is only thinking I AM the seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, smelling, thinking I AM the perceiving and thinking There is no I There is only perceiving and thinking Perceiving and thinking just happens
  8. Listening to a satsang in the dark tonight, my train of thought: I am aware of these sounds These sounds appear in Awareness I am Awareness These sounds appear in ME Are there sounds, AND being aware of the sounds? Are there sounds, AND the perceiving of the sounds? There is only hearing-knowing, there are NO separate sounds AND perceiving Sounds ARE the hearing-knowing I AM the hearing-knowing Awareness/Consciousness is nothing Awareness is not separate from the objects in Awareness The world/microcosm appears in Awareness, but there is not-2, the perceiving-knowing of the world IS Awareness Awareness exists as nothing if there is no perceiving
  9. What's in the dictionary under 'non-duality' ? I'm saying for the purpose of realizing Consciousness, that definition is not useful
  10. Consciousness is not the sense of 'being conscious of...' It lends that sense some reality, but Consciousness itself is not that. If I ask you 'Are you conscious/aware?', what do you say? And where do you go to find the answer? Consciousness does become aware of itself, no need for separation.
  11. Starting from @Leo Gura's 'become reality' meditation, I find this helps to expand one's sense of self: (Focusing on sounds/hearing) Notice the external sounds (sounds outside your skull, so if your tummy rumbles, that's external) It helps if I find a video on youtube with distant construction sounds Now, with these sounds, rather than allowing the projecting of the perceived ' sound source' into space (that's what 'the brain' wants to do automatically), try and 'flatten them out', focus on the raw experience of the sound, with no conceptualization, no 'what it is', no 'where it's coming from'. With eyes closed, notice the raw sounds have no defined location where they appear. They appear in Consciousness. Visualize the raw sounds appearing very close to you - if the sounds are low volume (which means they are distant, but do not focus on distance), they can be perceived as coming from small toys very close to you. This makes it easier to visualize that the sounds appear in Consciousness, they appear in YOU, and your sense of self expands to encompass them. Last step for non dual perception is to remove the idea of the self, of the 'Observer/Witness Consciousness' from the perception - et voila, YOU ARE the sounds, YOU ARE the hearing. Will try the same 'flattening' process with visual images, I suspect it's a bit more difficult since the body-mind puts lots of energy into mapping the 3D world into a 3D model...
  12. Starting from: I am hearing sounds. I am Awareness. Some clarifications: What we mean by sound, is the presence of sound in our perception. The presence of sound in our perception is also what we mean by 'hearing'. Conclusion: There is only 'hearing', there are no sounds independent of hearing. If we expand 'hearing' to any other perception, we get Awareness(-ing) - Awareness is not a 'thing', it is the presence of hearing, seeing, feeling, thinking etc. (inspired by Goran Backlund)
  13. While everything can be said to be a vibration/modulation/instantiation of Consciousness, the body and the world are gross vibrations, while thoughts and perceptions are subtle. 'm not talking about what thoughts do, while being identified or not with them. I'm talking about the actual nature of thought, what IS a thought? It can't arise out of matter (brain/body). Thought IS Consciousness, same as Perceiving IS Consciousness. How does Consciousness makes itself known when there's nothing to observe/perceive? Consciousness itself is NoThing, so that everything else can exist and be known in and as Consciousness.
  14. Sure, but what is the nature of thought? It is so categorically different to matter (body/brain), that it feels to me thought is just another configuration of consciousness (along with the 5 senses). The body and matter can also be said to be 'yet another configuration of consciousness', but at my level that's a step too far and I find it useful to differentiate between the world-of-matter and the experience of perceiving and thinking.
  15. Disclaimer: brains are imaginary I know this thread is about 'mystical causes', maybe I should start a different one I feel a very acute difference in my state of mind and I'm creating a story about neurotransmitters. I'm vegan (mostly raw, + tofu) for the past 3 months - used to eat lots of meat before, and I think the nutrients I was getting from previous diet are being missed while my body is adjusting. I used to also use kratom daily for the past almost 5 years (Sep 2014 - Jan 2020), and only found out in the past few days it's influencing neurotransmitters. When I started taking it, felt good for a few months, but it created dependency. No meat - less tryptophan which is a precursor for serotonin; peanuts are high in tryptophan, although conversion might be less optimal, for a previous almost carnivore like me. And lastly, also gave up caffeine for the past 4+weeks. Besides the main action on inhibiting adenosine (that makes you sleepy, so caffeine keeps you alert), it also acts on other neurotransmitters (mainly serotonin and dopamine), something like receptors are 30% larger after chronic caffeine intake (https://www.precisionnutrition.com/coffee-and-hormones#:~:text=Chronic caffeine intake has been, handy pre-workout drink).) Yesterday was feeling a bit depressed, and was applying the spiritual band aids, like "Who is feeling depressed", "Accept anything that arises unconditionally (including depression)", and it was working to an extent. Then, I had the brilliant idea to have an energy drink, consciously, paying attention to the effects. It had almost psychedelic-like effects on my "become reality" meditation. The rest of the day I was very focused and conscious, even enjoying my kids company for the first time in a long time. Culminating with my first non-dual state at night listening to GP Walsh and becoming the hearing-knowing of his words. I'm off all addictions now (kratom and caffeine), will keep experimenting with caffeine sparingly to influence my state of consciousness. Sorry for the long rant Peace
  16. I think I also accessed a 'direct hearing-knowing' state that made the words understood with no conceptual overlay and delay, as if a direct transmission through the medium of consciousness. Although that's a conceptualization, no need for a 'medium' or 'transmission', since it's the One Consciousness the guru and I AM
  17. I'd place imagining and understanding under thinking. If feeling is labelled, it's also thinking. Although I don't mind adding feeling as one of the configurations Awareness takes, along with the other 6...
  18. I should expand, perceiving includes the 5 senses, plus thinking. So, what I am, is a stream of perceiving/thinking, which is also the Knowing/Awareness-ing of it
  19. You are your own guru Alternatively, try Teal Swan
  20. The ultimate reality is Consciousness, that's all that exists. It's not an 'object' so in that sense it's not objective. It's non dual, so in that sense it is its own subject and object (language is dual so you may think this sentence is nonsense) Better yet, the concepts of subject and object do not make sense when referring to consciousness, since it is prior to all concepts.
  21. @Moksha I thought everyone got the memo, objectivity is an illusion, doesn't exist. Only subjectivity. Noone ever experienced something objective, only subjective. Standard in an... objective universe? The one that nobody can ever experience. Everything that exists is Consciousness, which is no thing From the point of view of your belief in an objective, real universe and reality, this makes sense. In my subjective () perspective, since all that exists is Consciousness, and all that exists is YOU, any supernatural phenomena must by definition also be YOU. So how supernatural can YOU be? Perceiving so-called supernatural phenomena only depends on the level of consciousness, if you're not aware that what you're perceiving is YOU, you might be convinced (maybe even by direct experience) of angels, ghosts, reincarnation etc. But these are just stories you (lower case 'you', the one that believes it's limited and separate) makes up about what you perceive, according to Consciousness level.
