Its perfectly okay to not have a well defined life purpose .It is not something unique and rigid that you need to worship throughout your life.As you progress through life you will gain maturity and slowly you will understand things and see them for what they are.In the light of new perspective it will be much easier. Your time here is limited and you have in-front of you an unending buffet of dishes in front of you. Would you fill your stomach up with only one item and miss out on all the other cool dishes entirely?Or rather will you keep on sampling small helpings of each and find out yourself what is the best dish of all times. It all boils down to what I would like to call the two E's of life Purpose.Experimentation and Elimination.First experiment. Then give it some time and patiently observe whether it brings you in a state of flow.If not eliminate it entirely.Like I am not good in music,so I cancel out music and all its allied fields.A time will come when nothing will remain except your life purpose. And after that if you still don't have a well-defined purpose you can resort to the broader ones like ,saving the planet, helping the poor, spreading education etc etc.

I feel that the cause of this problem is more deep than we think it is. Let me illustrate this to you by means of an example. One fine day I say to myself "I need to learn and master the piano".The moment I say that to myself I am actually unconsciously making several changes to my sub-conscious mind.First of all I am setting a standard for myself that I now need to live up to.This is creating a pressure on myself. But maybe I dont want to do it just yet due to some factor. So I start hating myself for it.This causes more tension and inner conflict when I keep on brooding upon the things I am missing out due to this.I hate myself some more. Then I see others and keep comparing.More useless mental exercise ensues that ultimately leaves me exhausted. My sub-conscious now holds the belief that I am lazy and learning the piano is now a herculean task for me. On the other hand if I say "Piano is a a great instrument to learn. It would be great if I could play it.Lets find out the piano classes near me and enlist it".That is I take small baby steps from the moment I conceived the idea,it becomes relatively easier to follow through.Plus I am not making it a "must-do" for me that is lessening the pressure,so even if I miss out the next day,I will not hate myself but make a positive effort to follow it throught the next day. This my two cents in addition to what Leo has to say in his video on how to deal with procastination

We need relationships for a variety of reasons.Sometimes we need validation and we need a sense of belonging. All human beings have a basic requirement..that is the need to be accepted by others. Then we also have a need to own somebody. There are various needs that the ego creates and when these are met,we find a temporary sense of meaning.

I think to truly wrap your head around this you need to practice mindfulness meditation and be generally mindful in your approach towards everything. The Past and the Future are constructs of your ego. When you can truly dwell in the present 24*7 all your life's problems are going to disappear slowly and you will feel infinite bliss

There is no such things as a unique life purpose.A person can have multiple Life purposes and yet have no definite purpose at all.I think you should be open minded and experiment a variety of things with an open-mind. Your Life Purpose may change throughout your life.I feel that anybody can master any skill provided he puts in tremendous effort into it.And you can fall in love with any discipline provided you approach it with an open mind and remain patient. I became an electrical engineer because I was convinced that my life purpose is maths and physics like you.I mastered it and achieved a lot of success. Then I fell in love with history.I never thought this was possible as in school I found it to be boring. But I fell in love with it while watching some interesting documentaries.I also fell in love with philosophy after watching Leos videos.See..it all depends on the perspective. Your time here is limited and you have a unending buffet of dishes in front of you. Would you fill your stomach up with only the pie and miss out on all the other cool dishes?Or rather will you keep on sampling small helpings of each and find out yourself what is the best dish of all times. Well,Historically, enlightened people and yogis have been described to have powers like that.Walking on water, turning water to wine are just to name a few. Actually what enlightenment is is the realization that everything around is a construct of the ego and that includes your cocnception of yourself and the wall. I feel when you reach high levels of enlightenment you are disillusioned about the constructs of the ego. Like what you know about a wall is actually what your ego has recorded including the limiting belief that it cannot be walked through. Once we dissolve the ego, there is no wall because definition of the wall has dissolved with the ego. And you start bending the rules of the world like Neo in Matrix -
Your brain has started associating emotional surges with blood sugar levels. It is more of a psychosomatic problem. This is just a coping mechanism, that you have developed to distract you.You have to deal with the deeper issues first. The underlying causes of your depression must be dealt with.Do some research on this and meditate, try breathing exercises. Take some time off..a hiatus and pamper yourself more.

Nice story. When your own ego is safely locked away, none of their advances will reach you.It is almost like an invisible barrier to filter ou the ow consciousness stuff

Please stick with it for thirty days,if it works you will know for sure and so will we .But if it doesnt we will have one less phony technique to deal with

Going by the literal meaning, it means 'one who practices yoga in all its forms'.Yoga on sanskrit means to unite or join.It is the process of unification with your true self.Yoga is not limited by just a set of physical exercises infact it is much much more than that.Higher yoga aims at attaining Nirvana which means extinguishing of the self and nirbikalpa samadhi-trying googling.A credible sources is http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/639864.Autobiography_of_a_Yogi .The writer preached about liberation and enlightement in USA,and had many disciples including James Jesse Lynn who is a great western Yogi.

Try taking frequent breaks at first and doing something else in between two sessions.Slowly lower down the frequency of the breaks. This worked for me.

That is very much possible, and yogis have achieved this for centuries. The ego wants you to believe that it is not possible so as to protect its own existence.Part of what this guy said is really good, but at one point he made the mistake of thinking the ego to be the animation software. But we are infact not the hardware, the OS or the program but total nothingness. What is there is really the hardware which is not what we are.I am not my body.Infact I am just nothingness that came out of nothingness to interact with other nothingness.Pretty abstract and indescribable unless we experience it ourselves

The concept of Age is an illusion, some thing that the ego is creating to hold you back to coax you into thinking that it is all over.See it does not want you take adventures as it fears it will perish. You have to get over this primal ego that wants you resting snugly in your comfort zone and take MASSIVE action.Go do something every minute to reach there.I know of a lady who started her catering business at 55 and became succesful.Light a fire under your ass and go take it what is rightfully yours.

All of those really work to increase your fluid intelligence,I don't think it does much for your crystallized intelligence.I think for an all round development and results you need to be really consistent with all those. I would pick up one technique and would not reallly stick with it to really see the benefits.Ultimately perseverance and consistency is the key.

Abnormal conditions require expert professional help, most of us here are not trained in the field of psychiatry so we cannot offer the best help to you.Leo never stigmatizes the mentally ill, infact if you listen to his videos on depression he clearly states that if you are clinically depressed there is literally little he can do because he is not a psychiatrist. Moreover most of us think we are mentally ill when we are not at all that.I think we sometimes misdiagnose this own ourselves.I wrongly thought that I had ADHD when it was nothing but a minor anxiety problem which I got over. Mentally ill or not, bottom line is Positive Psychology is for everyone.

Yes of course you can participate without bias and judgement, just do't get too involved and passionate about the shit storm and blind chimpery.Use your high consciousness and vote.Don't keep yapping and yapping and invest hundreds of hours of your time like the majority of the chimps.

@Leo GuraAm I on the right track? I feel that enlightenment is more like a reduction process, more like un-wiring the constructs of self and ego that are the pillars of human suffering.Evolution has instilled in us a sense of the self,so as to protect us in the "jungle environment" outside. It is the process of consciously shedding this self -which is nothing but a construct of our lower consciousness .Enlightenment is more of a gradual disintegration, than something that can be called a elevation to a new level.Like the cutting of the diamond

What you are experiencing is quite natural for people like us who have started climbing the stairs of this actualization process.I am awestruck too at the change in the dynamics of my relationship with the uninitiated. They notice the change too,and when the ask I explain it to them in as simplest way as possible and show to them how to get started. The more open minded they are the better they deal with it. But I have developed certain coping strategies to help me better.I have constructed a emotional barrier through which none of their pettiness and trivialities penetrate.I didnt consciously create it,it generated itself after I realized the various tricks my ego plays.Whatever they do now, they cant nourish my ego with their pettiness. As Leo points out,"Modern society is an amusement park for the ego".These people are frolicking in the Disneyland of the ego, while my own ego is safely locked in a high security prison facility. The two can't connect. I don't judge them or criticize them though nor do I feel any pity,as pointed out by others it is futile to give help to those who dont want it. I mostly tell them whatever they want to hear.I don't avoid them,as it is futile. In extreme situations I hide behind sarcasm because using the f word is considered rude in most social situations

I recently got involved in the study of Philosophy and I intend to go really deep. I mainly started this quest on my own, after I was influenced by Leo's videos and some other sources that presented it to me in a way that it really piqued my interest.I feel that study of philosophy is genuinely putting my faculties to test as I am going deeper and deeper.I also feel that Actualizers should genuinely devote some time to creating a foundation in Philosophy to achieve some degree of clarity over many things and gain some different perspective..Anybody here who can suggest me some books and resources? I am mainly from a technology background so I have no idea about how to pursue a disciplined study.I think Leo could be of great help as I saw in LinkedIn that he has a degree in Philosophy from UCI.

There is absolutely no correlation.I know lots of intellectuals with great physique.Yes those at the top may not have it ,and that it is because they are highly specialized and they think of it as a waste of time.Chances are that they lack in a lot of other aspects other than having a ripped body.Lot of them have dysfunctional relationships, money problems etc.But I think that is not the case with the majority, tons of lawyers, doctors, mathematicians practice lots of sports.Maybe they are not into hardcore body building.

I dont think formal education is important but you need to be a well read and well rounded person in order to deepen your understanding of life which is a definite a prerequisite for personal development.Academic Knowledge can give you some degree of perspective. What will give it true completion is practical implementation and experimentation.Practical experiences give theory new meaning and dimension and one is incomplete without the other. If you have practical knowledge only your appreciation of it is limited. For example If I know how to drive a car that it is okay, but if I read about the development of internal combustion engines and several factors about the automobile field,my driving experience would have a whole new meaning. On the other if I just read about cars and stuff and never drove one I would never even begin to appreciate what a automobile actually is.

We all encounter setbacks of varying magnitude in our lives that derails us from the path of self-actualization and well being.Be it a death of a loved one or some unexpected loss,or things we have no control over like an accident similar traumas. Then there are things that we do have some degree of control like failing an exam or having a divorce.I would like to know Leo,how you deal with traumas and setbacks, how you deal with regret,self-blame and other traumatic symptoms,How to pick yourself up and avoid spiraling downwards.
