Epikur replied to whatishappeningtome's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
Though who can decide what is bad faith? There is a lot of grey area. In collecting information sometimes you can use the strategy of steelmanning. That could look like agreeing with bad faith actors but could actually mean you work with their toughest arguments. Otherwise you operate in an echo chamber where you use the ability to convince anyone outside. A discussion has to be sometimes uncomfortable to get something going. The more one side is accusing the other groups of bad faith the other sides will do the same. -

@Milos Uzelac I checked the channel. Quite interesting talking about fake democracies Kamala Harris seems to be even too fake to be a politcian. -

Chasing happiness makes you unhappy. Not chasing it mitigates suffering. Enlightenment is the end of suffering. 3,4

I guess it depends where you lived back in the time. There might be environments where people were nice and peaceful collectivists though some were I guess a bit more "energetic" 4,3 -
@thisintegrated I feel like every post should have an intro as your opening post. The ego noice is very loud in most posts. That is why I suggested to post only after a certain amount of meditation and workout. 6,3

I once made a suggestion for quality control. Every post needs a meditation and exercise time so there is some quality foundation. And yes crazy people post crazy things. So some banning in that direction may be needed if you don't want that crazy people making normal people crazy. 70,30 -

The concept of 'idea sex' from James Altucher might be helpful. I still didn't do the routine. Maybe I will start one time. 5,2
