  1. @gettoefl if Everything is Love, how can it increase? Isn't this moment a Perfect expression of Love?
  2. @gettoefl I think what you are saying, is that there is no better time than the future, since things are always getting better.. now isn't as 'good' in your opinion as tomorrow will be, and tomorrow is not as good as the next day.
  3. @gettoefl yes.. I have agreed to that.. evolution means 'change over time'.
  4. @gettoefl no better time than when? 1 minute ago?
  5. @gettoefl 'better' is an unusual word choice.. things change over time, I'll give you that.
  6. @Carl-Richard for the same reason trees flower. Nobody asks a tree why it flowers just because it does.
  7. @gettoefl God's plan is suspiciously similar to that of someone with no plan.
  8. @RMQualtrough I'm not sure it ever means choice.
  9. What will, will. What won't, won't. It's a great word. It's just that people don't have 'a will' or 'free will'.. those things don't makes sense.. a person has 'what he or she WILL do'.. Is a tree 'willing' it's branches into existence? Not really.. a tree WILL grow branches when conditions are such that that's what WILL happen. 'The will of the people' is just 'what the people will do'.
  10. 1) How long are you into spiritual path? Always on it. 2) How many trips on psychedelics have you experienced? No idea.. hundreds probably (it's been 20+ years since I have taken a psychedelic). And what psychedelics? Whatever came my way. 3) How often do you meditate? almost never.. I meditated once, then I woke up. 4) Has your life gotten better or worse? Both/Neither.. How? I let go of 'better/worse'.. 'my life' became 'life'. 5) What are your main [insights], what advice could you give to others? There is nothing to do which you are not already doing.
  11. @CuriousityIsKey it's all happening (or seems to be happening.. no difference). There is 1 thing occurring, and that 1 thing is 'everything'. Duality is seeing a difference between heads and tails.. Non-Duality is realizing heads is relative to tails, and both are 'the one coin'.
  12. You can bend the rules of this dream, if you want to, but you don't want to, because you are very attached to this dream.
  13. If you should dream at night, about looking into a mirror and seeing a human looking back.. is there really anyone looking in a mirror?
  14. @CuriousityIsKey dying won't cut it for the same reason you don't disappear if you die in a dream.. There was no 'dream you' who 'dies'.. or 'wakes up'..
  15. @CuriousityIsKey see.. the thing is, One already is everything, having the perspective that it isn't... so One never really 'becomes' everything.. it just sometimes realizes it IS everything. Being you is all you ever do, no matter how 'you' is defined.
  16. This seems like asking, 'why do we have elbows?' or 'why do we poop?' or 'why is it cold out sometimes?'
  17. @CuriousityIsKey "There will always be suffering. But we must not suffer over the suffering." - Alan Watts
  18. Nothing happens absent suffering. 'Suffering' and it's counterpart 'Desire' are why anything happens. 'Suffering' and 'Desire' are the same thing, the way 'heads' and 'tails' are both different ways of seeing 'the coin'. In order to 'get rid of suffering', one must 'desire to get rid of suffering', you see? You must be 'suffering from suffering if you desire to not suffer'. What do we 'desire'? We desire not to suffer. What is suffering? Well, it's that which we do not desire. Suffering is just 'existing in a way that is undesirable'. If a ball is at the top of an incline, we might say, the ball 'desires' to be at the bottom.. we could say that the ball is 'suffering' the forces of gravity.. it's existing in a state that is not 'preferred'.. the ball is up, it prefers (because of gravity) to be down.
  19. "I have no other self than the totality of things of which I am aware." - Alan Watts
  20. from Widipedia- "Her father, Christian Rasmus Holmes IV, was a vice president at Enron, an energy company that later went bankrupt after an accounting fraud scandal." I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
  21. For sure. And this is why people's actions will tell you more about their intentions than their words. I can't remember where I heard this.. but I recall this notion of 'finding out what you really want' by paying attention to your actions. If you want something, you find a way, if you don't, you find an excuse. So if you find yourself making excuses for why you can't do something, chances are you just don't want to do that thing.
  22. I always like what Sam Harris had to say about 'Belief'. “A belief is a lever that, once pulled, moves almost everything in a person’s life. Are you a scientist? A liberal? A racist? These are merely species of belief in action. Your beliefs define your vision of the world; they dictate your behavior; they determine your emotional responses to other human beings. If you doubt this, consider how your experience would suddenly change if you came to believe one of the following propositions: 1. You have only two weeks to live. 2. You've just won the lottery prize of one hundred million dollars. 3. Aliens have implanted a receiver in your skull and are manipulating your thoughts. These are mere words- until you believe them. once believed, they become part of the very apparatus of your mind, determining your desires, fears, expectations, and subsequent behavior.”
  23. @Incognito @Carl-Richard Thought, whether conscious or unconscious, whether you are aware of thought or not, is happening. Thoughts are arising. Even now, in this moment, as you try to pay attention to these words, other thoughts are competing for your attention. Where are they coming from? It's a complete mystery to you. What will you think next? You have no idea until the thought arises. What sounds will you hear next? Again, you have no idea until you hear them. It all works the same way. Not doing.. just being. Trees are happening. Clouds are happening. People are happening. Thinking is happening. Decisions are happening. This conversation is happening. You are happening. But all of these things are happening without anyone who 'does them'. You can become aware that this is the case.. you can 'awaken' to it, if you simply pay close attention to your experience.
  24. It's like 'being so lost in the movie you're watching that you completely forget you're watching a movie' vs. 'watching a movie while being aware you are watching a movie'.
