Ulax replied to Rafael Thundercat's topic in Society, Politics, Government, Environment, Current Events
@Rafael Thundercat Hey dude. At the moment, I'm trying out using the guardian weekly (Its a magazine and i have a subscription for it) as well as pod save the world. Pod save the world is, for me, the best news channel on YouTube. -
@MarkKol I swear everyone on youtube has an expose video on them by now lmao. Next thing we know the 'my name is fred' guy is going to exposed for running a ponzi scheme.

@StarStruck I relate to this sort of split heavily lmao -
@StarStruck Its also imo because women are socialised to be more agreeable than men. So, a hard no is more likely for a man than for a womann. A woman is more likely to be more subtle in rejecting someone else's advances.

@Devin I've looked into it a bit, yes. Tho, I do find it difficult to resolve the seeming paradox between the idea that gender is purely performative and the idea of dysphoria. I'd need to look into some more queer theory to get a better understanding of the various viewpoints.
-
@Devin I think the idea is that the process helps overcome dysphoria.

@Raze Based on the first quote I'd say I'd recommend the watchful waiting strategy. On a side note, I don't take that argument about common sense seriously. Imo, a major part of academia is about exposing fallacies inherent to 'common sense'.

This lecture seems to me to be a stage yellow analysis of the arab spring (referring to an alleged set of pro-democratic revolutions among arab nation states). And I think its a great example of the sneakiness and devilry involved with survival agendas; here playing out at the international level. Imo, the lecture shows a perspective on how nation states will hide survival agendas behind legitimising rhetoric, how media can completely misunderstand conflicts, how non-systemic attitudes can lead to humanitarian crises, and much more. Notice how even the presenting of a conflict as a 'revolution' rather than a 'civil war', in the case of the recent Libya conflict, can be seen to be the result of a nation state wanting to legitimise its survival agenda. Sneaky stuff.

@AdrianBartan Come talk with me about the lecture I uploaded in the politics subforum. Its systemic and big picture but no one replied so far lmao

@EugeneTheSage I tend to treat dreams as metaphors for my unconscious dynamics. Perhaps these dreams are illustrative of a powerlessness you feel in your life towards achieving some of your material ambitions. -
@Manusia Not trying to win bro, just interrogating your beliefs
-
@Manusia You aware of spiral dynamics?
-
@Manusia why do you think it isn't fair?
-
@Manusia What about LGBTQ folk?
-
@Vlad_ Maybe in like '80s and '90s.

So its really as simple as just allow yourself to be satisfied. Plus see the practice as simply nudging yourself towards being satisfied by the present moment. I get it will require a lot of practice. However, am I missing something? Is the technique that straightforward?
-
@Leo Gura Thanks. Where did you get the idea for the meditation style from btw?
-
@Leo Gura Brother, although I have made/ recognised critiques on this thread. I think you are enormous force for love and consciousness in the world, and have brought a lot of value to the lives of many. I wouldn't want you to lose sight of all the good that I see you to do.

@Tristan Clemons I'm asking you a genuine question. Why would taxing them help? -
@Focus Shift David Tian's lecture series (See 'Both Modern mating explained' and 'Practical psychology for extraordinary living') was the turning point for me out of focusing on pick up, and moving into pursuing a more mature masculinity.

@John Paul Hey brother, I think therapy could be an awesome step to take. Based off of my theoretical understandings and personal experiences, an in-person depth psychotherapy could be really helpful for you. Life transforming even. I think psychodynamic and IFS therapy could be great ones to look into.
