Ahh interesting point, I understand your argument now. I hadn't thought of that before but makes sense. -

Compare that to Uvalde (22 deaths), Sandy Hook (27), Vegas shooting (60), Bataclan (90) etc etc. Apart from exceptions like the Nice truck attack, you aren't really getting double digits from non-shooting attacks. -

Compare the death tolls of those stabbing attacks and shooting attacks. You aren't generally getting double digit death counts from stabbing attacks. If you look up those china stabbings, the death counts is usually between 1 and 6. Compare that to Uvalde (22 deaths), Sandy Hook (27), Vegas shooting (60), Bataclan (90) etc etc. -

What you mean by prevalence? -

I disagree in part. I'd argue the cause of mass killings is 'Intention' + 'Access to technology of extreme violence'. Taking away guns takes away one of the necessary causes. Compare the Southport attack and Sandy Hook attack. In one the attacker had a knife, the other the attacker had a assault gun, one had 3 casaulties and the other 28. But i agree that taking away guns doesn't affect the intention element. -

I disagree. This is not the USA, this is Australia. After the 1999 Port Arthur Massacre in Australia (35 dead), the Aussies passed the National Firearms Agreement, which seriously limited private gun ownership in Australia. This included a mandatory buy back scheme. That evidences that the Aussies are capable of making serious legal changes in the wake of mass shootings. I'd argue the lack of American change in the wake of mass shooting is to do with distinct American cultural & political reasons. I heard somewhere that the shooters were able to attain these weapons as members of a shooting club (need to check this). If so, I imagine that the Aussie government will pass laws seriously restricting people's ability to get weapons for recreational reasons, i.e. hunting, shooting club. So, I'm confident things will change in Australia. -
Maybe might find this video interesting. He's a pick-up/ self-dev coach who had a fucked up childhood. I used to watch this video all the time when my life fell apart, was tormented and was on welfare. Most meaningful video on the internet to me. (I'd skip the ad at 2:00 - 3:15)

I'm not a psychology professional. I think you would find value in this book list though: https://davidtianphd.com/recommended-readings/

You have case study you are basing this off? Asking in good faith -
I am very sorry you had to witness such a horrifying event and the suffering it has caused to you. And I can't imagine what the family are going through. I agree with your points around the issues in modern societies, and it is saddening to hear what that poor boy was going through. I think your idea of planting a tree is a beautiful one too.

Gotcha. If you're interested in exploring working to resolve inter-part conflict, via IFS, you could give this linked meditation a try. No pressure though

Holy quack -
I think so :). I am still working on healing myself, and I am not an experienced professional so i'm not sure what is required to heal. I think IFS therapy could have some answers though. In that therapy you can talk to triggered parts of yourself and they can tell you why they feel a certain way. You could search 'IFS meditations' on insight timer and give some of them a go if you're curious

I don't think its a bad idea personally. Its good to be selective about who you let into your country. -
I play a FPS game called R6/ Siege. There's a conformity trend at the moment where lots of people comment 'Siege is dead'

Agreed!

I don't have much experience with working but I have an idea. But I am just theorising. Perhaps you could have a skill based day job, i.e. cybersecurity, which allows you to get better and better at it. Yes, it will lack because it is not your passion. However, it will be a job that lets you develop in skill and I believe some fulfilment comes from developing mastery in anything over time. This would beat out something like just working at a corner shop in many ways. Because at a corner shop you aren't really developing skills over time in the same way. Hope that can help out mate.
