  1. Except first trump had to win a primary which was decided by just 10 percent of voters and their votes were split between many candidates. Then in the general it was basically just him and Hillary with tons of special interest funds. If we had banned money in politics, required ranked choice voting, and automatic third party ballot access, it wouldn’t have happened.
  2. Jews were actually allowed to live peacefully in many Muslim countries to escape antisemitism in Europe. Ironically after the creation of Israel in response to the culmination of European antisemitism in the holocaust, it caused a wave of antisemitism in muslim countries whereas antisemitism began dying out in European countries.
  3. I don’t buy the argument that the US supports Israel for shared values, the US has supported many dictatorships and crushed many democracies.
  4. What usually happened was it became an actual dictatorship where the proletariat had even less power which was the problem. A true dictatorship of the proletariat was never properly achieved.
  5. The media just pinned the blame on him and others without knowing the full story. He had a lot less control then they claimed.
  6. All the communists parties morphed and changed their ideology to fit their needs. And that’s not why it failed. It got overthrown for other reasons and wasn’t popular even among the secular leaning city dwellers because of its dictatorial behavior.
  7. They had a large communist party. They may be personally religious but they can have secular political ideology.
  8. There weren’t anti American Arab terrorist networks in the Middle East until the US backed Israel. The biggest factor is the lobby. The US supports a lot of countries but no other country to the point where it’s afraid to even pressure it at all.
  9. Except we can see how Israelis treat Palestinians in the West Bank when the PLO pretty much works with the Israeli government now, so no it wouldn’t.
  10. There were large secular and religious groups in Afghanistan, the Soviet Union funded communism there while the US funded religious fundamentalist. The militant Islamist ideology wasn’t popular and formed from the militias the US funded. It was there choice to fight, but in the end it killed millions and destroyed Afghanistan as a state which caused further bloodshed for decades. Had the US left well enough alone it wouldn’t have ended nearly as badly. See Vietnam, the US also funded Vietnamese who wanted to fight communists and even fought with them, but hundreds of thousands died, in the end the communists one, and Vietnam isn’t even that bad a place to live, it accomplished nothing but suffering. I didn’t say communism spreading was debunked, the idea it spreads from country to country like dominos was.
  11. US officials admitted they funded Islamists in Afghanistan to trigger a soviet invasion to kill Soviets and weaken the Soviet Union. This resulted in over 2 million Afghani civilians dying. The idea that communism was spreading was a theory called domino theory that has been debunked. It also lead to the Vietnam war. The CIA’s behavior was catastrophic.
  12. I know, but by funding the islamists bin Laden and others rode their victory to fame which later allowed him to form Al queda and spread extremist ideology, and some of the Islamists turned into the taliban
  13. So why would they want to abandon their Israel project? They aren’t that smart. They funded Islamists in Afghanistan to trigger a Soviet invasion and that lead to the taliban and Al Queda, then they failed to catch Osama Bin Laden. They also installed a dictator in Iran and it lead to the Islamic revolution and a major actor resisting the US.
  14. We won’t have a choice. If Israel gets overrun they’ll use the Samson directive and that must be avoided. Also AIPAC has almost total control now so they can get it to happen.
  15. The purpose of the proxies is so Iran doesn’t have to get their hands dirty. They’ll avoid it but a better question is if Israel will try to bring them in.
  16. religiously protestants separated much later because they rejected authority of the clergy and was a reformation to it, Shia separated much earlier because they respected the authority of the prophets family that Sunnis rejected and both developed alongside each other and maintain much more similarities. Historically the Shia Sunni split had much less violence, it was common for intermarriage and the populations to live peacefully together for most of their history. Relatively recently the tensions ratcheted up for various reasons. https://www.history.com/news/sunni-shia-divide-islam-muslim
  17. An interesting interview excerpt about one of the only anti Zionist Israeli journalists thought process:
  18. This is not true, both religiously and politically the dynamic is very different.
  19. for most of history the Sunnis and Shias lived in peace, same with Jews in Palestine. Western ideas of nationalism and Zionism kicked ethnic conflicts into overdrive especially after they tried to import western state building after the Ottoman Empire fell.
  20. But we can track that the extremism spawns from Israeli force ex. first intifada -> Hamas Siege of Beirut / Sabra and Shatila -> hezbollah Gaza 2008/2014 / great march of return -> Oct 7
