It is primarily because of the increase of Latino’s in Texas, everything else you listed is just a minor point. 1) 95 percent of Texas population growth was Latino, the growth of black and Asian population would have made a extremely minor different, also Asian and black voters have also been trending rightward. 2) The rate of college enrollment has now been declining 3) Religious people are also much more likely to have children and the country has always had periods of religious decline and religious revival. You cannot just claim that everything will become blue because young people are liberal, it isn’t that simple. By that logic it should have already happened or be happening in every state. It isn’t, states like Florida are actually trending red for example. The main reason Texas was trending purple was the Latino population, however that will change as Latinos have been trending to vote more republican. Perhaps in the far future the next generation will turn Texas purple, but that is in such a long period of time it’s really not worth trying to predict. Both parties could be unrecognizable.

I think he can improve twitter, but he seems to be over promising now. All the new features he’s floating would making running it cost more. I think he should focus on ideas that are clearly profitable, like allowing tipping of tweets and paid verification with more benefits, and outsourcing as much work to cheaper countries, to at least get Twitter breaking even. It was losing 4 million a day before the activists pressured advertisers to drop, this company has serious problems and now the elite and mainstream media are clearly upset by his criticism of them and desire for more free speech and will actively try to sabotage it.

For example, the developer of the retweet button said “We Handed A Loaded Weapon To 4-Year-Olds”, and foresaw how it would be used to cause pile one, cancellations, and stress. But Twitter did nothing about this phenomenon. Twitters old moderation seemed more interested in projecting their own biased worldview, for example, they banned the Hunter Biden story during the election even though they admitted it was a valid story.

YouTube loses money, their moderation has severely damaged their platform. They had great massively popular channels like JCS which they destroyed by constantly removing their videos and monetization. They also shadow ban or ban creators like Leafyishere or Andrew Tate who brought in tens of millions of views for “moderation”, or because they personally don’t like them, at the cost of profits. (There was a leaked email where they specifically said they wanted to curb leafyishere’s growth for example). That’s just not how to run a company if you want to make money. They are only surviving because they are owned by google who can eat the loss. Elon can also eat a loss from Twitter, he just cares more about profits.

My bad I misread the operating costs, I agree the subscription won’t cover it alone, but it can take a dent into it. He’s also firing so many people to reduce the costs. Advertisers go where the eye balls are, whoever avoids Twitter is just helping the competition who doesn’t by driving the advertising costs down. YouTube had a similar controversy but now they’ve started putting advertisements on controversial videos again, but just not paying the creators. Influencers love attention above all else, they won’t leave in any meaningful way. He can also attract influencers who were banned elsewhere like Andrew Tate or Sneako. Porn is already on Twitter, because it gets them more clicks and more attention, and thus more $$$.

It’s not a train wreck. In the long run Twitter will be better. Activists at Twitter were damaging it by artistically crushing posts and stories they didn’t like which could have gotten more views, and they were wasting huge amounts of money supervising everything (elon said he feels like there are 10 supervisors they were paying for every programmer). Advertisers are being pressured to pull out now, but Elon will slim down Twitter making it cheaper to run and open it up for more discussion. This will get more eyeballs on it and make it more appealing to advertisers in the long run. His verification plan can also work, if only 39 percent of active twitter users buy the 8 dollar a month verification, it alone will cover all of twitters operating expenses.
