  1. I never thought about it that way, but that’s a fantastic analogy. We have a bunch of Hester Prynnes now who are stigmatized because of something they did or said.
  2. Why not livestream both sides disarming nuclear warheads? I know it’s less entertaining than watching a couple of bickering old guys, but it’s far more valuable.
  3. When I was a kid, the saying was “I’m rubber, you’re glue. Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you”.
  4. Reality is. Should there be a reason? Who decides?
  5. How is saving the life of someone who wants to die better than killing someone who wants to live? Either involves a lack of compassion. I see it as your body, your choice. Also, is life inherently sacred independent of context?
  6. Oh, Mitch. Such a fine example of toxic life purpose. Such wasted potential for a smart guy to accomplish great things. I feel pretty confident in saying the day he leaves is the day the Senate starts running smoother.
  7. Probably for the same reason “majority power” wasn’t a slogan for anything.
  8. Tough call. I’d probably switch my shift for less money, but it depends on your budget/living expenses.
  9. It’s funny, really. A couple days ago, I was wondering what happened with this!
  10. It’s the essence of not knowing. Everything is fresh and miraculous at that age. This is why toddlers are prone to do things harmful to their own survival and stress their parents out.
  11. May as well add A Perfect Circle and Puscifer to the list also.
  12. I have no fear of death, but I fear that I will regret the way I’ve lived when I do.
  13. Well, he already lived through one... But yeah, probably.
  14. I think this goes along with life purpose. A monastic living, in any belief system, is only something the most dedicated followers undertake. It’s not something to dabble in with the hopes of waking up eventually. So, it is certainly a viable method for ardent believers of Christianity, but only brings suffering for those who aren’t.
  15. If it’s something you’re passionate about, don’t second guess yourself and overthink. Live your life. Experience things.
  16. Just gotta be selfish more consciously, that’s the point.
  17. Also, does Game B include and transcend Game A in the same way a stage yellow person includes and transcends stage green thinking, or is it an entirely separate thing?
  18. Ok. So. Anyone care to agree or disagree when I say that containment as described in the other thread is Game A?
  19. Is there a difference between needing containment and being a dependent? Is there a difference between providing containment and needing a dependent?
  20. Friendly banter between coworkers can be misconstrued as mean-spirited and disparaging by the receiving party. Are you certain it was meant to be offensive? I can understand being in a bad place mentally and not being receptive to their humor, it has happened to me also. But there aren’t many people who would take pleasure in kicking someone when they’re already down.
  21. This video seems very biased toward a binary way of thinking. It didn’t really resonate with me at all. Then again, I’m not a stereotype of masculinity. So maybe it shouldn’t resonate.
  22. I have a hard time distinguishing assertiveness from being an asshole. I dislike assholes and don’t want to be seen as one, so I end up not being assertive.
  23. I doubt he was enlightened, but M.C. Escher‘s art is some pretty high-consciousness stuff.
  24. Location, location, location. Cost of living in all the places shown in the OP is much higher than most of America. I have little doubt some of those homeless people could live well elsewhere.
