  1. One person hit him with a skateboard. That person was also shot and killed. They thought he could possibly cause more violence and kill more people later on while he was loose. Do you really think that the only outcome of letting him go was that he willingly brings himself to justice later and vows not to threaten protesters with a reckless vigilante attitude anymore. They were willing to take that fatal risk. Imagine yourself in the minds of the protesters who chased him, especially in the moment. They genuinely believed that this kid could easily cause more violence to their group and must be stopped at all costs. It's so easy to do civility politics when your movement wasn't just threatened by a kid with a gun. These weren't everyday average people on the street who felt threatened, these were angry protesters fighting for what they believe in. Of course, they were going to chase him down.
  2. So socialists are technically neo-neo-neo-neo-cons. Language is strange.
  3. Here's a small creator who I've been following for a while who suddenly started losing his mind to stupid Libertarian freedom-of-speech warriordom. He talks about LeafyIsHere's banning but also complains that Alex Jones's banning was also unfair and oppressive. He over-exaggerates the problem of big-tech platforms having the ultimate power to remove anyone from their platform and unironically uses the phrase "free market". Unsubbed from his channel. Goddamn Libertarians. . . .
  4. By insisting that we only talk about one video and ignore larger picture details, you are engaging in framing an event in a specific way that YOU want. And personally, I don't want to have a conversation with that very limited framing. You are deliberately ignoring what I have to bring to the table.
  5. Stop pretending that you can get all the facts from one video. There's almost always going to be other facts that can re-contextualize an event. Don't forget that this was a 17yo. Being under-age while carrying a rifle alone is already a crime. Police came across him earlier and did not immediately arrest a minor with a gun and expressed support for his "cause" https://www.vox.com/2020/8/27/21404117/kenosha-kyle-rittenhouse-police-gun-populism Stop framing this as an innocent guy randomly attacked by protesters out-of-the-blue. He was asking for trouble, either intentionally or not.
  6. Trumpists still fall for it, though.
  7. This is an issue I only have during certain times of the year. Now's that time again. . . . I live in a fairly tropical part of the world and I work from home with no AC. I usually like to stay productive but the extreme heat during the noon times are really getting on my nerves and it's messing with my work ethic. The only thing I can think of right now is to take multiple baths during the day. If you guys have any advice of your own to share, please feel free to do so. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take another bath.
  8. By that logic, if you walk into a bank holding a gun and the cops pull their firearms on you. That makes you justified to shoot at them because hey. . .it was self-defense! That's so far-away from a solid defense of what happened.
  9. Ironically, you have fallen into a classic trap here: Mythologizing "spiritual people" as never condoning violence or harsh action. You can do your spiritual practices and stuff and still kill a man in certain contexts of self-defense.
  10. This kind of response is unproductive and not a good-faith response. So is mine: But jokes aside, you're asking for trouble if you attack random people with a gun regardless of whether they're protesters or not.
  11. Too early an investment for me to make at this early point in my journey. There's not that much heat during the morning and evening so I've pretty much just re-scheduled the tasks where I need the most focus during those times. I can do more laid back tasks during the hotter parts of the day.
  12. Never said I don't already have one. It still gets too hot. Will look into it.
  13. ? ? ? If 99% leftists are not anything like what's portrayed. How is it a good satire? Mindless indeed. . .
  14. @Parththakkar12 What I said was about the media. So many morons with anti-mainstream-media-bias nowadays criticizing it from below not above.
  15. Damn, least he's still alive apparently. . .
  16. Coronavirus Denial is even stupider. Your own mind is sneakier and more devilish than any outside enemy you create.
  17. I've known his channel for years. He's a Stereotypical Hippie in the modern world. He genuinely cares more about making sure people don't get harmed rather than being the mythical "Rugged Individual" as Leo likes to call it. But he takes it too far, which is why I'm not a fan of his.
  18. Exactly. But in your quest to rescue humanity, you forget the importance of intellectual and epistemic rigour and just generally being able to spot bullshit.
  19. @DrewNows Stop trolling. The Topic Starter had a legitimate concern about Ralph Smart and dangerous covid conspiracies. Personally, I don't believe Smart is a Libertarian. He has too much of a hippie vibe to be one imo. Ralph Smart just comes across as a Stage Green nutjob to me. Not a nutjob because he's Stage Green, but a nutjob who just happens to be Stage Green.
  20. I'm having a hard time thinking about what to write on this thread because you keep trying to prevent reasonable discussion.
  21. Just stumbled upon a YouTube channel called <insert topic name here>. Pretty interesting stuff. Shows you how Non-Trumpist conservatives are worth listening to.
  22. Sounds like someone who wants to trump the competition.
  23. You've got to be kidding me. Shrek and Kermit the Frog? More like Stage Green.
