@Elton There's good nature in you. But also there's Ego that want to survive.

WEIRD? LOL... Many thinks I'm too weird just because I don't care what anyone say. For me, the best way to get a long with my family is listening to my parents. Many thinks I'm weak because of that. But the benefit is everytime I'd like something against my parents , I restrain myself. Overtime, I understood how strong my mind and emotions have become just by restraining myself. So putting others over our desire is not a bad thing tho.

@charlie2dogs Do you really know the main teachings of Buddha? The main goal of Buddhism is to reach Nirvana. I don't know about enlightenment because everyone is having different opinions. Nirvana is also called "end of sufferings." My translation of enlightenment is Nirvana. And a person doesn't need to claim himself as a Buddhist to do things Buddha taught. It's the freedom in Buddhism. Which means you do or don't, we don't care. Reincarnate as this or that and ghosts and bla bla bla are some bed time stories which people told their children. The real reincarnation and this ghosts stuff are not the same as people think. @WhatAmI Buddhism will help you a lot. But... do not go for traditional beliefs and religion. Go for teaching. Especially, the core of his teachings. If you are not sure, you should search "Why Buddhists are so eager to reach Nirvana." If you agree, then move on. If not, search something else. -

@Joe Schmoe Even if a person tells the truth, most of us just can't get it. I don't think enlightened people hid themselves, I think they just wanna keep their mouth shut (most of the time) because people won't understand what they have to say. -

@Joe Schmoe Yes, enlightenment has stages and Leo is where the map is at. I'm not saying Leo will give me the map. But at least he can help us how to get the map. We cannot rely on others to become enlightened, but we can't ignore the fact that we need help sometimes. -
Khin replied to Kevin Dunlop's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Leo still has little ego BUT.... the thing is that he isn't there yet, but he's already got the map. It's like he knows where he's going. That's why it is ok to follow him. -
@Bruno Lower self and Higher self is the same as saying your are a good person or a bad person. "SELF" don't exist... "I" don't exist. There's awareness. There're thoughts. There're bodies. But none of them are you. Ego don't exist. It is an illusion of self. I wish Leo make a video about this EGO being an illusion. But I also understand that it is VERY VERY hard to explain. Even awareness is NOT YOU! But you don't want to let go right? You must BE something, that's what people want to keep on thinking.

Enlightenment is easier to say than done. If it were to reach easily, then most of us must have reached it already. Enlightenment is reached only by mind. You can't reach it physically. So the eight fold path is to prepare our mind from baby step. By enlightenment, I meant the Buddha's version of Nirvana. If you are not trying to reach Nirvana, then forget this. Eightfold path has basically two sections. #1 is physical part and #2 is mental. We should practice starting from physical part. It is like strength training, a person must restrain himself from such things as stealing, lying, killing, etc... basically must restrain from untrained mind. After a while, his mind will become like clear water in the lake. Also, he will be able to do and act in a way he Truly feels right. Therefore, he will be satisfied with himself. When the mind is clear he can think everything clearly about what he wants and doesn't want. Also what is happening around him. That's just example. When Buddha says right and wrong, he did not mean it in judgmental way. Since there is cause and effect nature, whatever we make today will lead us to somewhere. So if you are to choose the path to Nirvana, you must do the actions those will cause you to be enlightened. -

@Mal Alright.. Great.. I'm REALLY OFF this time.. Good luck with everything man. -
Khin replied to MarkusR's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Mal Oh.. You don't! Great... I'm glad. Read carefully. I am not saying it in a way of good and bad or right and wrong. Every little things we do will lead us to somewhere. That is why we should be careful when we do things. Not because of we are afraid of something. Not because of we are afraid of we are going to jail or hell, it's because we understand the cause and effect nature. By caring what we do is like caring ourselves not to stray away from our path. Like Leo said, nothing is right and wrong. But there are consequences. I don't do things because I want compliment from others. I just do it because I want to. Even when I write this post I write with care so that at least one person who read this can benefit from my words. -

@Mal Immmm.... OK. You think I'm religious. And I can see that you think harshly about religions. You think I'm trying to get you into something. Also you maybe thinking I'm acting shit. But all I was saying was to have some compassion for others and not to ignore things. I'm not telling to do anything because some "human" is going to judge you so. The "care" I'm talking about is totally different from being afraid of what people are going to say. It is just wanting to see everything is doing well and nobody is getting hurt. Well... I'm off. I'm guessing how old you are now. Read with some positive mindset a bit. Good luck. -

@Mal Holy... That was harsh.... I'm sad. You know that everything we do will lead us to somewhere. We can't just ignore something as unimportant. Especially in enlightenment work where it needs 100% focus and observation. How am I misleading? -
Khin replied to MarkusR's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Mal Umm.. No.. Well... It's just me. If not wanting anyone hurt or caring for others means ego... then let myself be a BIG EGO. It is OK. If people are claiming themselves enlightened but doing shit without caring about others, then they just won't get respect from people like me. Oh.. right .. they don't care anyways because they are so "enlightened" (LOL). Mann.. Please, I have no other hurtful feelings. I just don't want people to be thinking like they do not have to care any shit anymore because everything is illusions and such and such. Some people seem to be very popular, even monks seem to be enlightened and talk like gurus. But you guys should carefully research what they know and what you want. Umm.. maybe I'm just worry too much. -
Khin replied to MarkusR's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Hey I love what you said.... It just because the way I am, I can never stand hurting anyone or anything. So even if there's no such thing as good or bad, there is cause and effect. In the process of becoming enlightened, people also learned how they should act and think in certain ways (if you are doing right). I know this for very sure because I'm also on enlightenment journey for years and I know how much I've changed. But I also know that everyone is different so everyone learn and experience differently. However, there is only ONE Truth. Therefore, fully enlightened people, half way enlightened people, and people who are still on journey happened to know the same thing. That is why we can assume enlightened people must act such and such by looking at other enlightened people. If you stand up and move to the right side, you will move towards the right side. If you move left side, you will move towards left side. Our actions will take us somewhere. Actions define who we are because actions come from emotions and thoughts. Emotions of living things are real. Or at least it is very real for people with lack-consciousness and unaware. And that is the Truth. As a person who love the truth, we shouldn't ignore any of the Truth. Before fully enlightened, everything we see and feel are REAL. Even after enlightened, feelings and emotions are still real for others. Anyways, if enlightened people are hurting others and acting shit (I know they would never),.. LOL I'll just put all of them in trash can.. no matter they are Buddha, Jesus or God (whatever). -

@MarkusR Oops!! We can share our opinions and our experiences, right? I'll try not to act like I know shit... -
@Kath ACCEPT everything... That's the most effective way to cure the problems in mind while meditating... Don't label as good or bad, pleasure or pain. Just accept them as they come up to you. Because everything including yourself is part of nature. If you love nature and yourself, you must love everything. When you feel both mental and physical worlds as yourself, there is no such thing as good or bad, pleasure or pain anymore. And.... it becomes easier to accept everything as the way they are. When you can accept everything as the way they are, you will become more peaceful. Also you will never feel lonely again because everything around is loved by you and you will feel the love from them too. When I say everything, I meant EVERYTHING. All those trees, little animals, cells in your body, coffee table, your computer, your emotions etc... are all connected to you. Even talking about it makes me very peaceful

@LightOfTheEarth I see... jhanas is the high level of awareness (Samadhi). If you keep doing awareness or consciousness work for long period of time and gradually improving, you will definitely have jhanas. It is not as complicated as Vipassana, way to become enlightened.
-
@LightOfTheEarth You mean high level of Samati?

Awareness also only exist at the present moment. It exists only after the senses and thoughts. Without a sense, will you have the awareness which know the sense? They happened as cause and effect nature. Awareness has to be trained. So that later it appears naturally right after all the senses and thoughts. In enlightenment experience, that awareness sees everything is not permanent and also sees itself that it is also not a permanent nature. So the mind prepare itself to let go of everything. Then.... become NOTHINGNESS.- 9 replies

The sense of death will come in eventually. You don't want to die right? I was also the same. I couldn't sleep and eat for weeks and cried in my bed thinking about me and my whole family and all of this time will eventually fade away. But later I found out that I don't exist at all. In fact, all physical and mental states are always dying. And the best part was, I found a way of escaping from death or all these cause and effect nature which are causing death. Remember no matter how much you try, you are closer to death today than yesterday.
