  1. EDIT: This mainly applies if your inflexibility is due to muscle weakness. OP doesn't seem to have that Hey, Flexibility is a complex subject. There may be a lot of things in your life causing inflexibility. Im still recovering from a really bad disc herniation, so I still have to put my knowledge into practical test. However, what I've found out about flexibility is as follows: Generally speaking, inflexibility is your bodys protective measure against injuries. When too weak muscle gets overstretched, it will lose the ability to hold your body posture in daily life, especially when doing something physically challenging. When your muscle fails, your body will make a note and limit your flexibility so your muscle wont fail again. And on the other end, when your muscle is shortened too much for a long time, it will lose its strenght. This is how hip flexor tightness is born in people who do desk jobs. Same goes with your standing posture, if your standing posture is incorrect (Posterior or interior pelvic tilt), you will shorten a muscle and weaken it. Then that muscle fails at some point, like when lifting a heavy object, and your body pulls the brakes and limits the muscles flexibility. Here is a great article on the subject: https://www.dynamicchiropractic.com/mpacms/dc/article.php?id=45406 "Whenever a weak muscle is forced to work beyond its capacity, it will tighten and, therefore, be more subject to stress and strain. It is imperative to always build the strength and endurance of muscles along with flexibility." TL;DR Probable cause: Bad posture and underuse of muscles cause weakness -> Weakness causes muscle failure -> Muscle failure tells your body to limit flexibility And cure is: Use your muscles -> Stretch -> Use your muscles more -> Stretch more. Hope I could help!
  2. That's the ego placing a story where there is none to be found, and that's only human. If you follow Leos teachings long enough, you should eventually realize that. Leo cant use his words to help anyone to stop putting him on a pedestal, that would only spin new ego stories about how he is "oh so humble".
  3. Its not Leo's mistake that people are morons. I dont recall Leo ever saying that he is the spokesperson of the Institute of ultimate truth, and even if he did, he shouldn't ever be put to that kind of pedestal by anyone.
  4. @Vipassana I really hope your decision does not depend on whether the vaccine is mandatory or a choice. @SamueLSD If you decide to act on this, then please do so in a controlled environment where you wont risk spreading the virus to thousands of others. Vaccines are not for your health, they are for your fellow human beings.
  5. How much is enough? Im eating a banana, orange, roughly about 100 grams of brown beans and ~20 grams of spinach each day. Is that enough potassium?
  6. Oddly enough, Finland is also very independently minded. Its normal that people here move out at age of 17-20. If you still live with your parents at age 21, then that seems really weird for many people (Even though its economically wiser to live longer at your parents) Basically anyone here can move out of home at age of 18 and severe all ties to everyone they know without reprecussion. The welfare system will take care of you and quarantee that you wont starve or have to live in the streets I wonder if the motivation behind building this system has in fact been to increase independency rather than increase wellbeing of the people? Or was the motivator wellness, and the possibility for high independence is just a side effect we got with the system? Now that I think about it, Im taking the system for granted and I dont even know how it became what it has become. I need to do some research
  7. I love how if you search google for "Good things about trump" then the first 3 results are about positive things about Trump, then there is couple neutral things and after that, all results are just bashing him and not even closely related to what I searched. Then I do the same with duckduckgo, and the resulta actually describe what was being searched for. Im not Trump supporter, far from it, but I dont like the idea that this same thing could happen to subjects like spirituality.
  8. @Roy I thought it was something like that. Thanks for the info!
  9. How does a red pill work? According to google, its a huge shift in your perspective. But I've never heard that someone were red pilled into being vegan or feminist even though that would be correct in many cases if you trust Googles definition of red pill. However, I have only heard it in context of something ridiculous, like men being red pilled into believing in the MGTOW movement. OP, can you open this for me? I think I might be misinformed about the meaning of a "Red pill"
  10. A lot of our parents deal with things in unhealthy way. Same goes with a lot of our friends and family around us, you as a person are not like them because you have begun the road of self actualization and you've taken the first steps to take responsibility for your own life. And a lot of people develop past their parents. That kind of a thing. One of the signs of growing up is forgiving our parents and giving them the leeway to be the morons they are In the case that he has changed to something vastly different in just a couple of years, "It feels like he died a long time ago" as you put it, then just know that people change on their own without really trying. We dont stay one way forever. If he is 50 years old then just know that their generation is used to cocooning their problems and hiding them under a rug, "to man up". In personal experience I've noticed that my parents might open up and discuss solutions to their problems with you, and then I can watch as... Nothing happens. Nada. Instead of trying to change him, you can try and see what happens when you dont try to change him. Instead you can try accepting him as he is and giving him emotional support when he asks for it. Be with him, talk to him, love him. Love him like a son/daughter loves their father
  11. I have found that during my deepest spiritual moments my mind has been calm and focused, but I do not know if that is due to concentration. It could be that I just have concentration during those moments. In fact, those deepest spiritual moments have come to me when I have actively tried NOT to focus on anything during do nothing meditation. I hope you'll find your way to increase your concentration. Try different things and become aware of how they work. I'd still like to advice you to at least try taking advance of the hyperfocus trait that is typical for people with ADHD If you have boring tasks to perform that take time and lack motivation, I can recommend trying pomodoro timer. Basically you start the timer, do whatever you planned to do for 25 minutes and then take 5 minute break. That timer worked wonders when I was still doing school work, especially my thesis. http://doitalktoomuch.com/adhd-time-management-tool-the-pomodoro-timer/
  12. Try becoming interested in the book. Not like "Oh I want to read that because X and X", be excited about the book!
  13. @UnconsciousHuman @Hello from Russia I hope I wont disappoint you by telling you that these powers are not something I have read about or that I can build in to couple of phrases that you can look up and find high quality research on. They are techniques and lifestyle choices I've learned personally by observation and awareness and I will try to explain them as briefly as I can. Keep in mind that ADHD symptoms are very case specific, what works for me might not work for you. I hope there is help for someone out of this post. Basically, I've identified and become aware of what makes my symptoms worse and built my life in a way that minimizes those factors and these small nudges in my mind have given me pretty productive and relaxed lifestyle For example, I've noticed that having an appointment between 9 and 12 a clock in the morning will totally screw my any ability to concentrate on ANY work before that appointment is over, it doesn't matter what appointment that is, so I schedule my appointments to very early in the morning or very late in the day when Im less productive anyway Another thing I've noticed is that lack of interest makes me unmotivated to learn, and I will learn absolutely nothing if I dont have interest in the topic (School was hell to me even with medication) and this is actually common with people who have ADHD. They often have lack of motivation and focus in things that are not interesting to them, but the funny thing is that you can actually become hyperfocused on things that you absolutely love! (EDIT: For example, look at this wall of text I wrote for an hour... I really hope this is helpful for someone ) So, what I've done is that I've learned to love things that I want to learn or be invested in, even if I originally hated that activity. I learned this when I was learning social skills and didn't kind of get anywhere until I learned to become interested in the people I interacted with. That's when the learning took up like a rocket. There are a lot of these kinds of factors I've balanced so far in my life, and Im probably oblivious to lot of the small ones as I've built them over 5 years. I was surprised how many I do remember now that I've stopped to think about them just now. Summarised I'd say that these _personal_ powers Im trying to dress into words are: Reducing hurry in the hurry modern world, making everything an interest of yours, reducing overlapping schedules, reducing worries with plans and frames, (EDIT: Also, minimizing set times like lunch time exactly at 11:00 etc. That is a big one I seem to take for granted nowadays)... Thats at least couple of mine. Try to identify your negative factors and build your life around minimizing those factors Hope this wall of text was helpful to someone
  14. I took Concerta for 5 years. Changed my life altogether and made me able to go through college. I doubt I would be where I am now if I never got the prescription. But the meds dont work for me anymore. I have found much greater inside powers to help me with daily life than meds, and those inside powers overshadow the meds so much that I only get the side effects anymore. However, I think it would have taken me a looong loong time to find these inside powers if I never had taken those meds, they are a miracle. EDIT: Just to clarify, I was diagnosed ADHD when I was around 6 years old, but I was never prescipted meds before adult age.
  15. @The Don Hey, I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was young, and I also thought I had a shitty memory. I always told myself that my memory is shit, and I began to believe in that idea Names, numbers, things to do, conversations... They always seemed to escape me. But I think the reason for this was that I never tried to remember things because of my ADHD. When I began to focus on remembering things, suddenly my memory began to improve and nowadays my memory is better than the average Joe's. I can remember conversations almost word to word, I can remember phone numbers with 30 seconds of memorization etc. Try making a decision that you will remember things from now on. You will remember names, numbers, conversations, whatever you need to remember. Also try to become interested in things you want to remember, because it is common for people with ADHD to be unable to focus on a task that they find boring; Hyperdistraction for things that are boring and hyperfocus for things that are interesting. I think that also plays a part in good memory for people with ADHD, being invested in the tasks at hand. Best of luck!
  16. To self actualize is to become best version of one self. If you achieve things other actualizators value but you dont, have you really self actualized? @4201 put it down nicely.
  17. @Thewritersunion Does your photographic memory work in a way that you can bring the page back to your visual eyes and re-read it, or can you just conjure up what you need to re-member at the moment and then trace the source to the page in your photographic memory? Photographic memory sounds very useful. Any tips on how to start developing it? Should I stop thinking what I've read aloud and just think of the things as text on a page? I would definitely give it a shot
  18. Covid 19 improves my facial skin health
  19. Does videogames interfere with your lifes long term plans? If not, then there shouldnt be a problem. Besides, a videogame can be a really nice stress reliever and fun altogether! However if you notice signs of addiction, then ditch games before the addiction grows deep roots.
  20. There is good and bad. It really depends on how you look at it. The subjects in the test were all long term unemployed. So no students, no people who work at the moment etc. They found out that statistically there was no improvement in employment or income compared to control group. There were good findings too, tho. One is that the test just proves, that you cannot push people to work by reducing their welfare check. Extra money is not motivating help enough to get long term unemployees to join the workforce. I doubt this is what they were researching on, but its good thing to have confirmation regardless. Other positive thing is that subjects estimation of their own health improved. Also stress levels improved. Sadly the test is deemed a failure only because of the fact that it did not increase employment rates. I call this bullshit tho, because they only tested this on long term unemployed people. Not taking in students, short term unemployed and low income people was just a moronic move from the researchers. There could be so many benefits to the latter groups on top of the long term unemployees becoming happier...
  21. Yeah that sounds shady as fuck There has been a major misunderstanding on my part in this thread. See, in my country when we speak of a politician, we exclusively speak of a representative of a party who is currently sitting in the parliament, so politician is almost a synonym to sitting representative of a party in my language. When we speak of someone who is say, representative of a municapility we always add it in front of the "politician" word, "municapility-politician" So I didn't even think that when people here spoke of a politician, that they could have been speaking of say, mayor of a small town or someone working in a research work group for a representative or ministers assistant. I always assumed they were speaking of the sitting representatives of party. I can definitely see how ministers assistant or member of a work group can be VERY easy job and a money grab and how many people could be seeking those positions just for the easy job and money since, for example, there is little pressure compared to the business world and its easy to just shit talk yourself into the "results" your workgroup "finds". Apologies to anyone who might have revved up for my mistake
  22. Are you speaking of some kind of adaptation pension for politicians? Becoming one of the 169 chosen representatives and being able to hold that position is easy money?
  23. My reaction comes from her wasting her time and effort on such a small and insignificant thing when she could use it on more important things. As for the meme, thats my low effort answer to someone who thinks politics is easy money. Edit: And fishing votes is not corruption, its populism.
  24. That too. Taxes rise absurdly fast after a certain point in Nordic countries Corruption is created when people in power DONT earn enough. Like I said, salaries in politics need to rival with the salaries in jobs of high education. Otherwise, why would a doctor who earns 120k a year doing ~8-10 hours of work a day pick up politics to earn say, 60k a year working 12 hours a day and having to walk on eggshells all day long because one wrong sentence can ruin all the hard work they have done to get people to listen to them? Its a huge risk to give up your position and pursue politics even when the salary does rival with your old job. I still doubt there is any politicians in western countries who are in it just for easy money and "lols I dont need to do anything". Anyone who has thought about joining politics knows its a huge workload and effort to dethrone even the stupidest of politician to take their position
