@Leo Gura I don't know if you have ever reached a state called mental pliancy (I'm assuming not, based on how you talk about your monkey mind) where meditation is effortless because attention, placed anywhere, stays there because there is nothing in the mind to distract you. From that point unification of the mind continues, and as it happens "Platonic love" increases. Base state of a unified mind is love. Dalai Lama said that "equanimity is a root of loving-kindness", but then as equanimity increases to reach perfect equanimity (Nibbana), when object arise in consciousness and mind for the first time doesn't react to it with any aversion or desire - consciousness ceases and there is no experience. And all your claims make perfect sense if we subscribe to solipsism, then there is nothing to question really. Also, I think even a lot of neuroscientist would agree that we are "Gods" in our model of the world since everything we perceive by their understanding happens in our highly constructed model of the world, so in a sense, we never truly see an outside world but live in a world "created" by us.

@Leo Gura Correct me if I'm wrong, but what you claim is that you need to have the experience, self validate it, and this is the key to discovering the Truth, and if you have experience and refuse to self validate it - you're deeply confused Hamliton Morris after a very high dose of 5-MeO is even more interested in materialistic paradigm : Is there anything and if so what would have to happen in order to convince you otherwise, change your mind? Are you open to change your mind in the future perhaps by having even more powerful self-validating experience, seeing proof of increased brain activity on 5-MeO, seeing enough people that go through 5-MeO experience, having all the correlates of deep enlightenment (so we can confirm that somebody is enlightened) and then not claiming that they know the Truth? Do you take a possibility that one day you would go out (like you go to sleep every day) and just never wake up? Unless we get suck into Solipsism (which is unfalsifiable btw), we have to acknowledge that when we go out, other people still have an experience of being them. I think that Nirvana as no experience is even more radical than 5-MeO experience. Also, you go out like a light every day and somehow you don't take it as truth, don't pay attention to it, isn't it a confirmation bias? Have you ever tried to notice that feeling of truth is just a feeling in your body and can be noted with mindfulness? BTW I'm not a materialist, I just like to inquiry in this way to not self delude myself and yes I've had experience of unitary consciousness

@TheAvatarState Very interesting video Thanks! -
@FredFred Nirvana is also the cessation of all suffering and dukkha is present in all forms of existence (yes, including non-dual Brahman). Out like a light, extinction. You don't get off the wheel by going to some other realm, but by turning the switch off. There are more of these meditation heavyweights that would confirm that there is no experience in Nibbana.

@Schahin Totally agree And this may be uncomfortable to some people here but Nirvana is the cessation of consciousness like anesthesia, no experience, nothing. From Ajahn Brahm's book:

@Jkris for mental illness, I don't know for lack of motivation and low energy: coffee, Bupropion, low/moderate doses of Adderall, and from Leo recommendation - Modafinil but be careful with using drugs, make regular tolerance breaks and don't use too high doses -

Not free from mental illnesses Free from mental depression, but not from very low energy states/no motivation to do anything etc. -

Take 30mg of 5-MeO-DMT, you will see what dissolving your ego really means and why anybody who you think has real enlightenment would not be able to teach, function, be a guru or whatever they're doing, without an ego. Enlightenment is disidentification from your ego not dissolving it. The amount of work required will vary tremendously from person to person. It rather depends on how lucky one get with the right technique that works for him. 100% agree -

Concentration, Samatha is actually meditation and all other techniques are insight practices. -

1) Enlightenment is the end of all suffering Unfortunately no, enlightenment definitely lowers suffering and lead to a much better moment to moment experience of being you, but doesn't eliminate all suffering, physical pain is one example. Even if that would be possible, it wouldn't be a functional state. 2) Enlightenment is permanent ego death Ego is still functioning after enlightenment. Ego is something that allows me to write these words. After enlightenment, there is a process that unfolds for years and it does change structures of the ego. 3) Enlightenment is some kind of everlasting bliss It feels rather like metta equanimity than bliss 4) Enlightenment shows a person true nature of reality, God or that it would 100% convince a skeptic materialist to believe in non-duality I can guarantee you that there are many people having persistent non symbolic expierience who are still skeptic materialist paradigm believers. In terms of convincing power, full unity experience on psychedelics is much stronger, yet there are still people who refuse to self validate what they believe to be the Truth. 5) Enlighten person never hurts other people, always have good morals, have great personality etc. Enlightenment doesn't touch personality disorders antisocial, avoidant etc... 6) Enlighten person never experience anxiety and/or is fearless Well, obviously people still have working amygdala after enlightenment. Also getting rid of fear/anxiety would create some serious problems.

It's not severe in the beginning of location 4 but as you get deeper episodic memory get much worse This refers not to literally not being able to make a choice in real life but to loss of feeling as though I'm somebody or something that makes decisions, also to the loss of sense of agency like waving my hand in front of my eyes doesn't feel like "I" am doing it. It's just a prosses Once acquired for about 7 months (from their research) it's most likely going to last one's entire life if not intentionally reversed. It's not permanent because it can be reversed by certain techniques, brain damage, extreme stress. It's VERY persistent but not permanent. @Preetom -

@Preetom In 2006 Jeffery Martin traveled across the globe and studied these people, found there is a continuum and put them in "locations". Enlightenment is a continuum starting from a reduction in self-referential thoughts and change in the sense of self, in my case, it expanded beyond my head, then it goes through different changes like being one with visual field, sounds you hear until all sense of agency and self-referential thoughts go away. So this process I'm calling enlightenment. -

@Hima Izumi Do the practices, attain persistent no sense of agency non-dual awareness, then experience a variety of different life situations in that state, then come back and let's have a conversation. Until then what you think about enlightenment is a projection. -

@corndjorn Let me ask you this - why there are no studies on these fearless people, I mean they would be a huge phenomena One truly fearless woman known as S.M patient has been extensively studied because she, due to very rare genetic condition have no amygdala https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M._(patient) -

Yes, permanent Nirvana is reached after one's death but it can be "experienced" as temporary attainment while one's is still alive and many Buddhist say that it's actually lights out, cessation of consciousness -
Enlightenment replied to Enlightenment's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@corndjorn So there are no Enlightened people as even 40000h meditation monks have a fear response to a loud unexpected sound when measured in the lab, that's subconscious fear. -
Enlightenment replied to Enlightenment's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Mikael89 Concentration practices can lead to cessation that end all suffering, a monk can be burned to death and not even flinch in this state, but just raw enlightenment doesn't give you that ability. A lot of those spiritual teachers who refers to pain as just sensation are actually meditating every day to maintain a unified mind through concentration and the benefits that they have from it are confused with the benefits of their enlightenment, these are two different things. Ok so in your definition he would not be enlightened. What I'm saying is that someone can have exactly the same experience as what is considered classic enlightenment and still be a skeptic. -

Enlightenment is not the end of all suffering, Nibbana is. -

I don't think you wanna become fearless as it leads to problematic behaviour. Enlightenment does not make you lose ego, you need it to function. -

Wow I've started taking SSRI's because I also couldn't sleep from anxiety at night, but never thought that it may be caused by psychedelics. Wish you the best Martin -
Enlightenment replied to Isaac Ben's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Isaac Ben I've tried both DPT and 5-MeO-DMT. My 100 -120mg snorted DPT trip resulted in my first full ego death experience - breakthrough. I've yet to have a full breakthrough on 5-meo because I only did like 25mg. I find both substances very powerful in ego death inducing effects. The amount of powder is a bigger issue with DPT because you need a lot more, and it can create disgusting throat drip. Also 5-meo have no visuals except some white flashes on 25mg.
