  1. I am aware that I haven't yet integrated tier 1 stages of Spiral Dynamics properly. I can see that I don't think much about systems. I don't think much about progress. I don't think much about discipline and rules. I don't think much about helping others. Recently, I was obsessed with solving my own petty personal problems such as which speakers to buy. Pettiness pervaded my life. This thread is pretty petty, too. I'm not much better than people stuck in bullshit ideologies. However, I am developed enough to recognize how poorly developed I am. I am also not nearly as trapped in bullshit ideologies. I would consider that a good starting point. It can take years just to realize how poorly one is developed and to escape cults and ideologies that waste countless hours. From now on, I will work on dropping pettiness and focus more on personal growth rather than my petty personal problems.
  2. I could see that they agonize themselves with their bullshit theories and their bullshit ideologies. I wanted to help them, but they were deeply entrenched in bullshit theories. They even used Leo's videos to fuel their bullshit ideologies although Leo Gura wanted people to drop ideologies. It seems that either disaster or death will wake them up. I can't help everyone. Condolences for them because they are going to suffer for a very long time.
  3. @Serotoninluv So, do you recommend modafinil for boosting willpower?
  4. You seem to know how to use drugs. Can you recommend drugs for a poor man like me? Which drugs will boost discipline and willpower and momentum? How do you deliver drugs to your body?
  5. You can simulate mini nootropic effects with exercise. Exercise doesn't cost money. There is no substitute for psychedelics.
  6. According to quantum physics, the underlying substance of physical universe seems to be consciousness. The narrator of the video says the physical universe is an emergent phenomenon of a giant universal consciousness. What is it but god? God is hallucinating us into existence. The hunger in my stomach is being imagined by God.
  7. In the back of your head, you subconsciously know it is not going to work well. You know it's a fool's errand. Yet, you whisper yourself that if it works just once, it will work forever after that. That's self deception. In the long run, what can fail to work fails to work. There are ways to amortize risk, but most people don't have enough money and time to amortize risk. Sometimes, a thing just doesn't work. If you think you will find the cure for aging by just becoming a biologist, you are fooling yourself. Maybe, someone else will find the cure, or you may not see the cure in your lifetime. Don't lie to yourself. Don't tell yourself that you are going to become a world-class pianist by practicing piano for 6 months. Don't tell yourself that your social cause is going to work or make the world better just because you put effort into it. The nature of human projects is that 90% of all human projects fail or are discarded. It's time to make peace with the fact that most of your personal pet projects are going to fall flat. Eating potato chips and chilling down would be a better way to spend time than obsessing over cul de sacs. Enjoy your incredibly finite time on earth.
  8. Whatever your life purpose is, sleeping for less than 3 hours is not sustainable for more than 2 days. If my life purpose was important, I would definitely sleep for 7 hours a day.
  9. When you take money off the table, people who usually come to take money disappear. No one makes money directly from open-source projects. Yet, people make money around it by being paid for on-going software support. There is no money on the table for open-source projects, but the economic incentives are still there. If you regularly attend peer group meeting every week, you don't make money directly from it, but you learn to make money by learning and teaching trade secrets with each other. Again, there are economic incentives with no money on the table. I like this model of economic growth and human relationship because it is low in risk and therefore is for people who are not stinking rich. This is the model I apply to human relationships and business. Get rich slowly.
  10. When a 4 poses as a 9, it's very obvious. When a weak person fakes strengths out of a psychological complex, it's obvious. When an ideological person fakes strengths out of a superiority complex, it's ugly to my aesthetic sense. The japanese word for ugly is "見にくい" which is the proper word for what I feel toward faked strengths and faked beauty that are not remotely close to the originals. What do you feel toward cheap chinese knock-off products that were delivered instead of the originals? I feel ugly. If you are strong or beautiful, you don't have to pose or fake. A beautiful cat doesn't fake beauty. A strong man doesn't fake physical strength. A tiger doesn't fake physical strength. A tough person naturally displays mental strength through bravery and emotional mastery. If you are cool, you don't try to look cool. If you try to look cool, you look desperate to others. Be authentic.
  11. When fake is done intelligently, it's called mimicry. I appreciate intelligent fake. But, I still won't allow a crocodile to chew my hand just because it duped me intelligently. If fakery was survival mechanism, defense against fakery would also be survival mechanism. Defense would also be art if it was done intelligently.
  12. If god was a mere observer, it would be difficult to find where the free will is. If god was more than an observer, it would have the free will.
  13. I was trying to make a build plan for a new computer. I spent days on making something work for the new build plan. It turned out that it had negligible effects. I just gave up on it because it only had negligible effects. If I knew it would have negligible effects, I would not have spent days on just it. The same thing applies to learning. Practicing 50% of something makes you learn 90% of it. Finishing the other 50% of it makes you learn 100% of it but takes 10 times as much time. Thus, you can just spend 10% of the time to practice 50% of something to learn 90% of it. In other words, you learn 90% of something with 10% of the effort to learn 100% of it. I think it's called pareto's law. When you dive into a new field, utilize pareto's law to your advantages. Some people are very inefficient and try to learn 100% of something at all cost. Sometimes, it can make sense. Most of the time, it doesn't make sense. Learning the last 10% is not going to make a significant difference, but it can cripple your progress.
  14. That's more a mimicry than a fake. Mimicry is an art. Fakery is cheap.
  15. @Serotoninluv Yes, it is tied to perfectionism. You can get 90~95% of the result without spending too much time. Actually, 95% is pretty good. Maintaining 95% in the long term with the least effort is more important than going above 95% at all cost in the moment. Also, an exam is a finite game like baseball and soccer. In any infinite game that has no boundary, going above 90% can take at least ten times as much time it took to gain the first 90%. So, gaining the first 90% might be 1~5% of the entire effort in some cases.
  16. Theoretically speaking, I am writing to you as god, right? I feel orgasm as god. I feel shitty as god. I have sex with god. It seems that people talk as if god and ego were separate. Christianity also separates ego from god.
  17. @Nahm You might want to separate my quote from your comment. It's difficult to read.
  18. Selling rock is a legitimate business. Rocks are sold as decorations. It's just very difficult to get the permission to mine rocks.
  19. I didn't think of it as a social issue. I merely stated my personal preferences.
  20. I wouldn't like it, either.
  21. The chemistry can spark up again, given enough time. People often cheat by having sex with ex-girl friends and ex-boy friends if they didn't break up on bad terms.
  22. There are people who don't feel much compassion toward others. There are psychopaths who cannot feel compassion toward others. For psychopaths, stealing is fun. Also, to many people, stealing is fun. Not everyone is like you.
  23. When a person's only palatable option to survive is to pose, I can be compassionate. When a person fakes to steal, cheat, and deceive for fun and profit, I do feel ugly.
  24. Eliminate your ego from you diet. And, your average will improve.
