  1. Today, https://80000hours.org/articles/career-planning/ became the new foundation for my long-term career plans. Long-term career options Global problem areas I want to tackle Types of role or skill-types that I will be using in the long term Researcher, entrepreneur, artist, ... Next steps What I will be doing for the next 2 years Broad long-term options give me a general orientation which helps me choose next steps. They are specific enough to give directions, but are not so narrow that I have to change them often. I have a few high-impact long-term career options in my long-term career plan. I can try them and settle with one eventually.
  2. I aspire to be a kind of content creator. It's difficult to find hardcore people. I'm looking for them.
  3. I don't want to reveal my location for privacy reasons. It's not a third world country.
  4. I don't care that much whether a certain big industry caters to men or women or monkeys. All of it is totally out of my control. Let me remind you that there are also toxic femininity cultures in female-dominated industries. That's also out of my control. In my opinion, workers need more attention than customers who can just avoid the products or services. In game industry, men rat each other out to managers, so they cannot form unions. In some female-dominated industries, women harass each other to suicide and depression. Just adding more women to game industry doesn't make it better if the quality of women you add to it is not better than the quality of men in game industry. Given that game industry tends to attract shitty men, it can easily attract shitty women, too.
  5. I cannot be in denial of something I don't know about. If there is something like a system, it certainly wasn't centrally planned or designed by a small group of people. The game industry organically grew. There is no deliberate design to it. Saying game industry was centrally designed to be shitty is like saying africa's shitty situation was centrally designed by a tiny group of central committee. That's your interpretation. I can interpret that young immature men are too eager, too gullible, or too desperate. Wisdom is not laziness. It doesn't make much sense to work hard for free for someone else's benefits. A lot of unpaid overwork is stupid unless you own a substantial amount of the company you work for.
  6. @Leo Gura I'm aware that content creators create whatever they want to create. Especially, one-man entrepreneurs. If they can't, they would rather quit. What they want to create can range from sexy fictional women to in-world slang that nobody but the author of the novel understands. There are non-negotiable stylistic choices of content creators. Even if male content creators were aware of those critiques, I don't know what they can do, short of segregating target audience by sex or looking for other careers or alternating between target audiences with each piece of content. If half of a game's characters are sexy and the other half were not, women are still going to complain about it. So, I think target audience segregation is going to be done. There is no easy short-term solution. Meanwhile, more women can join the game industry. It's not like game industry as whole is actively avoiding women. Perhaps, too much overwork in the game industry repels women. I suspect improving labor condition will encourage more women to join. Perhaps, young immature men are too eager and too gullible to refuse bad labor conditions at low wages.
  7. Not sure how imbalances can be balanced out. I'm not fond of forcing young men to stop creating sexy fictional women or of forcing game companies to hire women just to balance out. There are better ways.
  8. Just to clarify, Personally I think it is a bad manner to ridicule small breasts, small dick, or saggy breasts although people can have strong preferences. In my country, there are large organized teams of radical feminists who leave comments just to call my country's men tiny dicks. They constantly compare us with foreign guys who presumably have larger dicks. They organize and plot domination plans in their online headquarters. They call us tiny dicks or little dicks on internet news comment sections, various internet communities, and so on where our dick size is irrelevant. It has been going on for years. Personally, I've accepted judgments although they keep claiming that my dick is half the actual size. They clearly haven't seen my dick. Constantly being reminded of my small dick is quite a humbling experience that keeps my feet to the fire of reality. I've learned that judgments are inevitable and must not be taken seriously.
  9. @Maximus You can also think of announcing a mastermind group on an internet community. On an internet community, ask beginners and intermediates to join your mastermind group meeting. The group meeting can be coordinated on discord or some other platforms. There, you and others set goals together, keep each other accountable, and talk about various topics. You set the rules for the group, and you invite people who share mission, vision, and value with you. My current rule is to not allow chronic negative criticism.
  10. I wanted to summarize this short video. Today, I did it. To become a warrior, you must learn how to garden. Your garden has 4 sections. mind body relationship work/creativity/business Your job is to tend to every section everyday. Stop looking at other people's gardens unless you are learning techniques from them. Just focus on your garden everyday. If a disaster destroys your garden, continue as usual. If someone comes in your graden and stamps all over your garden, Why did you let that happen? Continue on as usual. Don't believe there's some magic technique for your garden. You can't drown a section of your garden with a fire hose one day and expect to have a magic tree pop up by the next. There are no magic beans. Fire hoses don't help. It will always take time. If you tend to all four corners of your garden diligently, patiently, persistently, and playfully, your garden will turn strong over time. the garden becomes more beautiful. This beauty is obvious to yourself and everyone around you. This beauty permeates your entire garden and is truth. This truth is spirit and love. You will only notice this if you drop bullshit and tend to your garden. No psychedelic, no government, and no lover tend to your garden for you. You do it for yourself. End the day, knowing you tended to your garden. It's better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.
  11. I know he used to post here.
  12. Reverting or revisiting? Revisiting Orange doesn't mean you give up higher stages. We all need to revisit lower stages frequently. It's not just Orange that you need to revisit. You also need to revisit Beige, Purple, etc, ... By all means, do what you want. If you want equality, pursue it. Do your best, and prosper. Good luck.
  13. @Ibn Sina Anything that happens is nature. Leo Gura is nature. You are nature. Seemingly unnatural things are also natural.
  14. Although it can be complex, it can be as simple as the fact that those guys are screwing up their own lives. People who are screwed up inside tend to screw up outside. There are ways to respond to external reality without feeling the need to kill someone who doesn't pose a violent threat.
  15. Don't be sad. I still want anita sarkeesian to do her best in her life unlike guys who sent death threats to her.
  16. I love murder, rape, gore, bullying, and all sorts of violence in art. I also loved executing random guys in manhunt game. I still treat girls with respect in real life. I am gentle with them. Even if you are a father who loves your baby and feels hurt when your baby hurts, you can still love drawing a devil who eats a baby. I'm not particularly against women. I just love violence of all sorts including rape of all kinds(e.g., gay rape) in pieces of art. It reminds me of total freedom.
  17. @Leo Gura I like competition even when my dick is small and men in games have large dicks. In terms of look, skill, money, etc, ..., I am infinitely outmatched by others. My mom constantly compares me with other guys who are making more money and dating diligent girls who make a lot of money. I am still okay with that. You are talking to a wrong person. There are certainly games that appeal to women, but I guess men pay more for games for now.
  18. I liked watching girls' ass in the video. She seems to want to censor any piece of art that emphasizes female body parts that men find sexually appealing. I think that's like banning murder, alcohol, or car driving in games and other forms of art rather than encouraging people to be more responsible with human lives, alcohol, or their cars. By the way, I also loved https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhunt_(video_game) and GTA 5 and artistic gores.
  19. Many people live with and work for their gurus. They also sleep with their gurus. But, they get paid for doing so. It was called apprenticeship which was hugely popular in the middle age. Masters and apprentices still work and sleep with each other in some industries. Books made apprenticeship non-essential over centuries. The internet made it strictly unnecessary as long as you know how to research. Apprenticeship can still be helpful in some cases.
  20. After I woke up from sleep, I realized that without competition, I would not be motivated to push harder. If I was a caveman in the stone age, I would not be motivated to pursue excellence in a field. For example, a caveman may doodle here and there, but he doesn't really know what's possible with visual art. It doesn't compute for him. An isolated hobbyist swimmer in the stone age doesn't know what it means to swim well at olympian levels. Excellence is not even a concept in the absence of competition. Group intelligence enables individual intelligence.
  21. Try to do your best but still lose while playing sloppily. Try to be happy after a sloppy loss. That's called playing for fun. Fun makes you do it more. You want to do it diligently, patiently, persistently, and playfully. I think this video explains it well.
  22. To take the ego out of it, you have to let go of winning and results. You should also practice unconditional happiness. To practice unconditional happiness, try to be happy even when you lose or when you feel pain or headache. If you cling to your results, that's your ego.
  23. @Christian But, if you do not acquaint yourself with others' work, you cannot know what is possible. Can a caveman know what's possible as a 100m runner without seeing usain bolt? Can a hobbyist swimmer know what's possible as a swimmer without seeing olympians? Possibilities exist to motivate us.
  24. @Average Investor I don't tell you to ditch your business. What I mean is that if you let go of the results, you will have more peace of mind which leads to better results. It's counter-intuitive. If you let go, you are going to be happy whether or not your business succeeds. If you are already happy, you are more likely to try harder. If you try harder without neurotically clinging to it, you will succeed better. I experienced the same with work. When I stop caring whether I work hard or procrastinate all day, I naturally work much more than I would if I cared a lot about procrastination. Without happiness, it's difficult to work hard. If you are unhappy to work hard at night, you won't work hard at night. Let go of mental comfort, and you will work harder and still be happy. I feel headache because I worked hard, but I am happy anyway despite headache. That's what I discovered while practicing unconditional happiness and letting go. Happiness leads to success. Success doesn't lead to happiness. That's why practicing unconditional happiness is practical.
  25. How much freedom do you already have? If you already have enough freedom, it may be better for you in the long run to aim for becoming a well-rounded investor rather than maxing out your current business. Or, you could try to max out your current business while doing personal development. Unless you are struggling to survive, think about balancing the short term with the long term.
