@Shunyata I think before that is too early hehehe... this is not a matter of agreement or disagreement. It will happen when it will happen. But I don't think anything is going to happen. Because whatever happens is going to be the way things are. If we disappear from the universe, another being will be there, maybe more intelligent than us, who knows??? Are you thinking in an end of times like in the Biblical sense? I don't think that is going to happen... It will happen, but everything in the Bible is a parable, an image of what will happen... but I am not sure if you are referring or thinking in something like that.

Being Ok for us is different than being Ok for animals for example. So, there's not really an absolute OK, what is OK for us is bad for others... or it can be bad... like for the cows is bad that we eat them.

I think the problem is that people in general (me included some time ago) want to have something external which gives them direction or tell them the truth. So, in the case of the christians, they think that if you read the Bible the truth is written there and you will have all the answers there. But what they don't understand is that the same text can be interpreted in many ways. So if you don't interpret the text in certain way then you are heretic or a devil or whatever... They have to understand that what is written in the Bible is just a guide, not something to follow word by word, and that everything has meanings beyond what they can understand, the Bible is written in parables. They took all the meaning textually and that creates so much confusion. And on top of that, they feel that what the bible says is about a physical world, like if you are going to resurrect they think your body will live again, that Heaven is physical, that the Kingdom of Heaven is going to be on earth in a physical way. They are not open to other ideas or interpretations. Is so sad really... that a so powerful message is being diluted because of a bunch of people who call themselves "Christians". They are clearly not very Christians IMO.

But what happens if you preserve it? There's still a "you" in that? How do you preserve that "you"? Or you don't? If not, he would say... "there's no way you will preserve anything... " That's my question Got you... I am also trying to have lucid dream, I had one by accident and I was always curious about how to have one. Same here... I was close to that too in the hospital. Like 1 week in the hospital full time and then I went to partial hospital. I stay at home and went there from 8 am to 3 pm and had therapy, etc... Great experience anyways. It helped me to understand consciousness better. :-)

I had that experience and felt like I was losing my mind. I wasn't ready for it and I ended in a hospital. It took me like 3 or 4 years to understand what happened to "me"...

Got you... yeah... it's the clinging that creates the idea of the self. I understand that, thanks Mandy. I think the posts of all of you is helping me to understand what I am trying to understand. Or what I am questioning to myself. Let me see if I can explain better, I think that what I wonder is for the sake of curiosity. Probably there's not an answer to it. I understand that the ego doesn't exists and Jesus is saying that if you try to save your ego you will lose your life. That means that if you try to save your false self, (because you will be thinking that you are the body, the mind, whatever...) then when you die and unite with God (your true nature) if you didn't incorporate those ideas, the self that doesn't exist will die and of course the true self will always be there. But the you, the small you is going to be lost. The ego won't be able to accept all that comes with being God or consciousness and probably it will be shocked and as a psychological protection probably it will be lost... disappear, it will be gone.... no more ego... bye... You will really die. To consciousness I think... Maybe Jesus (because he was talking to people that had no idea about true self, and false self. They thought about it in terms of God and Devil) was trying to point to them the obvious by saying that. Of course, if you cling to the idea of the false self, you will lose your true life that is what you really are. But... this is my question... The true self is always there. How is it possible to lose your life, if you are already are the life?. Even if you lose your idea of self/ego... you will be always there! You can't lose yourself. Because you already are the life, the way and the truth. Jesus must be referring only to the lower self... but... if you recognize and don't cling to that lower self, does that means that the lower self / ego will be incorporated into GOD??? ... you will keep some memories of what you think you were? And here comes another question... if God knows everything... isn't it what it happens anyway? God will know all the lives of all the sentient beings and have them as experiences incorporated in consciousness? So, you will never really die, because you never really existed to begin with... :-P I don't know if I am explaining my question better in that way.... ... it's a bit complicated. And easy at the same time hehehe...

I think that is one of the conclusions we can arrive from that statement. Because we are attached to the idea of an ego we can lose everything, because we won't identify with consciousness so the ego that is false will be gone, so what we think we are will be gone too. But I think he is going deeper than that, he is also talking about the identification with the idea of a self. In a way it is also attachment. We are attached to the idea of ourselves. :-)

I got you SoonHei thanks for your comment! I was thinking that because God knows everything (God or consciousness, whatever we want to call "IT") how can he lose anything? The only way is if you are too attached to the idea of a self... when you unite with everything that self will be lost. But, if you preserve it, does it means that the self will stay? Isn't it necessary to lose all idea of a self/ego to become one with God? That's what confuses me... :-)

@mandyjw Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know that. That Rolling Stone icon is awesome. I used to do a magazine in high school and the main character or mascot for the magazine was a big mouth, I did it very much inspired in that mouth. hehehe...
