  1. Brainwave entrainment is how I got started with meditating.. It really was a helpful building block putting my brain in the proper state for meditation. After a while with a consistent practice you shouldn't really need it anymore. However, everyone is different, if it feels right and you feel you are getting what you want out of your practice then keep at it..
  2. I have struggled with this as well in the past.. I felt a distance between most of my friends after my initial awakening.. The best piece of advice I can give is work with some metta meditation.. Really sit in love and compassion, when you fill your heart you see everyone for who they are and give them love regardless.. Just do what brings joy to your heart and everything and everyone will fall into place.
  3. Depends on what your definition of laziness is.. I live an incredibly simple life of mindfulness, I don't do much. I meditate, read, spend time with my family and occasionally go out to dinner with friends. Is that laziness? If so I am completely content with being lazy.
  4. The stripping down of the ego is a long process for most... Spending time on the cushion in inquiry of "Who am I" is essential to break ego identification..
  5. "No mud No lotus"
  6. Read "Talks with Ramana Maharshi" and start inquiry within..
  7. Not familiar with his teachings.. Just give him a shot and if it resonates with you than go deeper.. If your not getting what you want out of it then move on.. There are so many wonderful teachers out there.. A few that I have resonated with were Adyashanti, Eckhardt Tolle, Ramana Maharshi, Ram Dass etc.... Good luck ?
  8. Anchor yourself with your breathe or with a mantra.. I found that my breathe was the perfect tool for me to bring myself back to my awareness.
  9. I will do my best to answer this question.. The work that needs to be done for the betterment of the world and people around you is your self realization. For a very long time I struggled with the frustration of wanting to spread my light with those around me.. I would try to reach out to help ease their suffering but in return I saw no change within them. One day I finally came to the realization that I was doing this all wrong so I began the process of meditating on this very attachment that I was clinging to. I detached from it and began turning the work back within myself (if that makes any sense) I filled myself with so much love and compassion that I didn't need to purposefully project that to anyone. It poured out of me with no effort and only then did people begin to approach me seeking the truth.. So in summary, the absolute best way to help those in this world who suffer is to look within and realize your own truth. Deep down everyone wants to live in peace and bliss, if you provide that within yourself they will seek it..
  10. Not sure why it matters if material one person uses is similar to anothers. If the material touches peoples lives and guides them toward the ultimate truth then in what way is that a bad thing?
  11. It's all about what resonates with you. Do not resist anything, just sit with yourself in inquiry and the doors will begin to open in your mind.. There comes a point when words on a page are just thar. The dharma is something that must be experienced not conceptualized..
  12. Just keep meditating and evolving through inquiry.. Before you know it you will experience life more and more from the seat of the witness and you will use all these moments as teaching moments.. When I first started my journey I always tried to figure out these situations with my intellect.. Unfortunately the mind can't think it's way though these situation. This is a natural process that takes time and should not be resisted. When you have days that challenge you it is perfectly ok. Just spend some time on the cushion that evening and sit with it..
  13. Byron Katie was fortunate enough to have a immediate awakening to the truth.. Like Eckhardt she was awoken through immense pain and suffering.. Most of us do not have this option which is why we hang so tightly to their teachings.. I love her work.. Deep self inquiry is necessary in order to awaken from within and she has a beautiful process for doing so...
