Because college will challenge your character and gives you many opportunities to grow as a person emotionally and professionally. College is more than just majoring in a particular subject, while you will grow in that understanding of that subject, the demands of college will also provide benefits. I frankly agree with Leo, going to college is a great decision, but I am biased, I went to college. It's also a great way to get into "cutting-edge" ideas, meet new people, grasp where everyone is working from in the social stratosphere.

haha thought someone would eventually post this.

1. I listen to all music, but my favorite kind is Rock and Hip Hop. I particularly love 60s rock music. 2. I am a guitarist. I can play a little bit of drums and I make some simple melodies and play chords on the piano. 3. I see music as very separate from self-actualization. But I definitely see music as having a transcendent quality especially while playing. I definitely think music has a powerful effect on "identity, personality, emotions, mood, outlook, and mindset." It's a two way street tho. A person can enjoy a particular music because that energy is already within them, but vice versa can also happen. Music to me is a personal experience, it also a super engaging activity that can be done alone or with others. I think it helps develop a sense of time and sound. I guess what I love about it is how transcendent I feel when I play, I forget myself, and I almost feel like I'm healing myself by playing my feelings out. It's totally strange. I play my guitar every time I trip on LSD or mushrooms for pretty much a good 2 hours and I've had absolutely wonderful experiences. Music is energy and it speaks to us a different way language, it engages with our soul and does not discriminate. Even animals will enjoy music. It's an absolutely wonderful medium.

Thats awesome that they still do it today. I think psychedelics and MDMA are medicines. I am aware of MAPS and their plans to help individuals with PTSD, but I didn't know about the plans to scientifically verify its use in couples therapy. I think thats awesome. I've been a lot of my information from this book called "Psychedelic Medicines" it covers LSD, MDMA, Psilocybin, and Ayahuasca. -
People are already doing what they want in the moment. I think the issue is whether they are actually conscious of the moment instead of using the present to fantasize about the "past" and "future" which are ultimately fictions of their mind. It's about becoming conscious of this though.

Differences that I see: Leo sympathizes with socialism and Peterson does not. Peterson is way too analytical about biblical text and like to spend too much time philosophizing. Leo does this but he seems to value direct consciousness work more so. Leo trips and Peterson does not. Peterson is focused on the map and Leo is focused on the territory.

Tripping does help. with anxiety in general. Id say the problem is you are so concerned about upholding an image of yourself in your mind especially in relation to others. You gotta not give a fuck and just fully accept yourself and all of your quirks. Everyone has them dude. People find authentic personalities attractive, so just be yourself, but also be present so that you can feel the situation.

Negativity is pretty much part of life IME. We can't always be running high and a state of pleasure, it comes down eventually just to go up. Peace is something else, thats like dropping all judgments and manipulation of reality which is dropping the need to be a state of pleasure or avoiding pain. Positivity and negativity also comes from judgment. Being doesn't discriminate and it views all forms of energy as one, it's like complete acceptance.

Doesn't this assume that a central nervous system is the only way to experience life? When its possible life outside of mammals may have other forms of system that allow them to perceive life? But plants do avoid creatures. They fight against insects all the time. They must be able to detect some sort of negative (in their view) stimulus in order to fight back. I think the fact that plants have some of sort of self-interest indicates an experience of life to me. Why do you not think so? I mean its hard to know exactly since there isn't any science saying that they are sentient in the sense that they experience pain. But there is science suggesting they are conscious, like to grow, can hear, and communicate with other plants. Although, I do not find the comparison of a computers, plants, and mussels to be a fair one. I think you bring up valid points, such as my equating of intelligence to sentience and that Mammals experience life in a more complex manner due to the nervous system and memories. I do think think there are separate experiences of life within me, I believe bacterias and other cells in general are all different forms of life experiencing the world in their own way. However, I still connect more with mammals and I'd say a cow before Id save a colony of ants. But my issue is still the use of synthetic B12 and Omega 3 DHA & EPA. Eating insects is just not an option for me cause I think its gross. Mussels are controversial in the vegan community, but even then, am I suppose to eat mussels on a daily basis? I guess I can eat them like they're vitamins. At the moment, I live with my parents, so it is difficult to have the autonomy of what kind of food is in my house, but I am goin to experiment when I have my own place. I guess my overall point was that everything is life and no matter what, life will be killing life for food. However, correct if im wrong, you're saying that life is different and we should discriminate what we eat because life experiences itself in different ways (ie: mammals have a more complex sensual experience whereas plants do not due to lack of central nervous system including the brain).

No it stems from lack of consciousness/awareness. You can rationalize evil acts. One could easily rationalize eugenics.

I think its unnecessary. -
There is to me because I am more attached to dogs than ants. But ants are still sentient beings. Yeah. Why not? They are conscious after all and care about their own life. You're telling me ants won't feel being cut in half? I do not believe that. I think plants are very conscious and express life differently than mammals. Mussels are alive too. They feed microorganism indicating they have an ego and self-interest. This is actually a controversial thing in the Vegan community.

No one can tell you here, you gotta look it up on the internet. Try reddit. To OP, that sounds wonderful. I am actually looking forward to trying MDMA some day especially with my girlfriend, it sounds like a blast and a deepening experience. Therapist, psychologists, and psychiatrists would actually use in couples therapy in the 70s before it became a schedule 1 in the 80s. -
why? Look inward. This is a great time to be introspective and learn
-
Haha exactly what I do. OP, you also gotta understand that your girlfriend, mother, and friends are missing the context behind those quotes and advice. My parents say the same stuff to me if I start talking about meditation. It's alright. The key is to find a balance between self-actualizing and career goals. It is totally doable. I don't think there is such a thing as starting too early on philosophy or meditation or anything. DO them if it is a true interest inside of you, but also keep up your school grades because learning about the external world and human society is just as important in order to thrive. It will open your mind. FIND BALANCE.

if he doesn't even know what he saying, then why do you get angry? Have you tried having compassion for someone who doesn't know what he is saying? Have you tried walking away? taking a walk outside? Notice how the anger doesn't actually help you, it just hurts you. and If it is not changing the other person than you are hurting yourself and wasting your energy, you need another approach.

There's no such thing as DMT hell. The hell is in you. There's no reality outside of you. You are reality man. It's all a matter of perspective, but those perspectives live in you. -

I don't think psychedelics "mostly enforce the habit of getting glimpse of awakening". That's what you're doing with it. They could just as well show you how much time we waste doing mental masturbation and get us to meditate deeper on a regular basis. Awakening is already there, its whether you want to actually drop your ego to see it. Psychedelics are God's gift to mankind to open our damn eyes. That's my opinion. How do you know Buddha did not use psychedelics? Psychedelics come in a variety of plants and can be ingested in various ways. I'd worry less about this karma and this cycle stuff. You can set aside time to contemplate it, but if you're trying to awaken, it seems like a distraction to me. Just focus on your direct experience. Are psychedelics helping you get deeper? if so, continue to use them responsibly, if not drop them. -

We also take water for granted. That shit is amazing. -

Honestly, tell your self to shut up and give up. Surrender. Realize that your thoughts are literally full of shit, rest on a bunch of assumptions, and actually come from biased place. It's hard to get to that place without a direct realization of it though. So... have you tried LSD? cause thats what did it for me. you just gotta run around in circles until you get so tired of it and realize how much it actually traps you vs freeing you and helping you see the truth. Philosophy is cool to enhance models and concepts to help the mind understand or to communicate it, but otherwise its like trying to catch water with a bucket that has a hole in it. you gotta give yourself into Being, simple as that. -
Thanks!

Mussels are great! I eat them since they are part of my culture when it comes to seafood. Insects are gross though, Im not eating them. Ethically it doesn't make me feel better because I am still eating a living thing. Me prioritizing a chickens life over insects or even plants for that matter is arbitrary. Not to mention, I care about fitting in a social setting and being cohesive. Being Vegan is already a challenge in itself. Imagine me bringing insects to thanksgiving? lol. Those arguments are not compelling enough to have me insects. I mean mealworms? the fact that I am disgusted at the sight of them already indicates that its not for me.

Why don't you just try it? 5-meo that is. materialist paradigm doesn't make sense to me. How does the brain create consciousness, if the brain exists within consciousness? I don't really feel like a software program is analogous to consciousness, it's more analogues to your sensory experience whereas hardware is the physical components of those experiences. The sensory experience is not consciousness itself, although its made of consciousness, its happening within awareness/consciousness. I assume you confusing are consciousness with actual sensory information, but you gotta question where that sensory information is taking place... Even if you do believe in materialism, consider how everything comes from within you or within the brain. The brain is creating its sensory experience and the external world, but because that is literally grounded in nothing, its almost a circular experience and can be concluded as an illusion or dream because there's no ground! The materialist paradigm fails at conceptualizing consciousness because it is literally empty, boundless, "space". If you have a deep psychedelic experience, you will see the contents within consciousness "space" such as sensory experience is akin to an illusion, you will actually sense that nothingness within your sensory experience and come to realize it is as real as a dream experiences - because its all consciousness. hence why Leo says that reality = fantasy, Life = Death, because it actually infused within one another. Like yin-yang. -
Psychedelics are great at infusing sameness and difference. I've played guitar on a high dose of LSD and have had trouble playing because different notes started to sound the same. BTW @Leo Gura you mentioned in the video that there is scientific evidence (statistical data) of paranormal OR psychic phenomena, I forgot which is it. Would you be able to link those articles on this thread or on your blog? I'd love to see them.
