The key is to avoid processed foods as much as possible. All those crackers, chips, bread sustitutes are basically junk. Just because the box says "vegan" or "gluten free" doesn't make it healthy. People eat all sorts of vegan, gluten-free junk in the same way that people eat "protein bars" thinking they are health food, when they are basically candy bars remarketed as "health food". If a product is trying to be a substitute for something junky, I basically also consider it junk. For example: Vegan mayonaise or gluten-free bread or dairy-free cream cheese.

@Solvinden You can cook stuff and keep it in the fridge for up to a week, depending on the recipe. Get creative and be more open to changing your habits rather than saying, "I don't want to cook twice a day." I often cook twice a day. It ain't so hard.

Enlightenment makes the personality more pronounced, not less, because stifling fears are eliminated and authenticity skyrockets. Enlightenment is not a state. It is simply what is. Personality != ego -
@ElenaO Try practicing Mindful Eating.

Emotions are extremely subtle and sneaky. For example, try to notice the sensations in your arms when you are angry or frustrated or annoyed. Then try relaxing your arms consciously and see what difference it makes. @ElenaO Good work! Keep observing. Especially during meditation.

Just do it. Stop looking for a trick or shortcut. Just doing it is the shortest path. Clearly that relationship is long dead.

@Courtney LSD or mushrooms can give you a sneak peak of no-self. You don't need 5-MeO for that. Just 1-2 grams of mushrooms will blow your mind at your level. And they are much easier to find and take. Start there and see how well you can handle it.

Life is the most amazing thing imaginable. How anyone can not be motivated by its infinite beauty is sad to me. You have been given the greatest gift possible -- this infinte dream -- but you take it for granted due to petty egoic issues.

@egoless You will have many more "final findings". But good! Take whatever breadcrumbs the universe offers up -

It's very easy to authenticate: try them yourself and you will see what is real and what is unreal. Just be sure you are ready to see the truth. All your pet theories will be utterly destroyed if you start to tango with psychedelics. You will experience mindfucks that leave you plastered on the floor, foaming at the mouth, calling for Mommy. And you will still only have scratched the surface of what consciousness is capable of. After all, consciousness does create the whole universe, so you should expect it to be a force beyond all equals. -
@Courtney There is no magic pill. I have been meditating for nearly 5 years and I still get plenty of monkey mind. Much less than before, but still lots of it. When I first started, I literally couldn't sit still for 5 minutes. 5 minutes was hell. It usually takes decades of serious practice to be able to totally silence your mind. And that doesn't include conquering your fears and inner demons. When those get triggered, of course the monkey mind will flare up big time and spoil your mood. That is your entire dynamic of staying alive we're talking about. You'd basic need to conqering death to be calm and collected in those situations. Just start doing the practices and remember to set realistic expectations with a long term vision, otherwise you'll get discouraged and quit. See my video on Setting Proper Expectations. Welcome to the work.

It wasn't a metaphore and it wasn't a belief. I've had the experience of awaking from life to see that it was just a dream. You can too. At this level of realization, ordinary life as you knew it is over. You are literally physically dead. Don't assume you've got enlightenment figured out. There are many depths to it. Realizing no-self is one thing, and realizing that all of reality is unreal is yet another. It is possible to be so conscous that you look around the room and the very physical objects you see around are realized to be non-existent. Someone could point a loaded gun to your head and you would not care if they pulled the trigger because you absolutely know it is unreal and makes no difference. Your true nature is infinite and unkillable. Because you already are death itself. "There is no doubt whatsoever that the universe is the merest illusion." -- Ramana Maharshi At this point I sometimes forget that 99.9999% of people -- even those who pursue enlightenment -- have no direct experience of what I am saying, and so to them it sounds like nonsense or exaggeration or cute metaphores or philosophical theories or some word game or me misinterpreting the scriptures. It is not that. It is precisely as I said. The only problem is, it's too damn radical and requires years of hardcore consciousness work to glimpse without 5-MeO-DMT. Many of you guys are still underestimating the full ramifications of nonduality. It's far more radical that you presently realize. That is okay. It's impossible to understand it so long as you are yourself. All I would suggest is, don't get cocky. Don't think you got this thing figured out just because you watched some Rupert Spira videos or did a few hits of LSD. There's more to the rabbit hole than meets the eye, and lots of people I notice are starting to get too cocky here -- starting to dismiss all reading and all theory as mental masturbation -- just because they've dipped their toe into it or watched a bunch of over-simplified neo-advaita videos. The scriptures are voluminous for good reason. This stuff ain't so simple as people first expect. Show respect to the wide range of subtle literature on this topic. Read all the books on my book list in the Consciousness category. Only then will you will start to apprecitate the depth, complexity, and subtlty here.

It was LSD. I have not done 5-MeO in over a year. At this point I am extremely sensitive to even small doses of any kind of psychedelic. A recreational dose will send me into full-on Buddha-like nonduality with all the classic insights you read about in the scriptures and books. It's quite amazing.

I have an enlightenment book on my book list which was written by a guy who pursued and achieved enlightenment while working as a full-time ER doctor. Yes it is doable. The question is, are you willing to do the work? It is definitely possible to build a great career AND achieve enlightenment. You will want to plan that out very strategically. I wouldn't try to start both simultaeously. You'll probably need to do some staggering.

Every psychedelic can mindfuck you totally. You must treat these substances with enormous respect. Bad trips will happen if you trip enough times. And they can be really hairy. My last trip was a bit hairy for about 2 hours until I was able to pull out of the dark side. But man, do those trips grow you. -
Leo Gura replied to WildeChilde's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@WildeChilde The difference is what you're identified as. If you identify with being a tree in the forest, when that tree dies, that's the end. But when you identify with being the entire forest, you never die. Materialism says you are the little self. Nonduality means you are the Infinite Self. It's a very different paradigm. Yes, the little self will die. In fact, it never really existed. But the Infinite Self is Absolute. -

Ah, but you do assume. You assume mutations are unintelligent. That was always just an assumption. And now it's time to call that bluff. I don't claim to know absolutely. All my understanding is fallible. I'm just sharing unorthodox ideas to open up minds. -

People forget that 35% of the Roman population were slaves. In the Greek times, it was standard practice that when a city was captured, all the men would be slaughtered and all the women and children raped and sold into slavery. -
Leo Gura replied to MarkusSweden's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Well, 2500 years has passed (5000 if you include Egypt) and where we at with that? We got Trump for president and 35% of the population who thinks he's moving society forward. The rest are addicted to food, alcohol, porn, Facebook, TV, and money. The technological addictions will only get worse with time. This new generation of millennials will be utterly unable to meditate or concentrate. We got a real Matrix situation brewing. And most people don't appreciate how close the world is to nuclear annihilation. -

It will just go over the normie's head. Always has, always will. The problem isn't Jim Carey, the problem is being a normie. -
I have a good speed-reading book at the end of my book list. It will be more flexible than this spritz gimmick.

Guys, ease up on each other. A lot of personal sniping going. Have a discussion without making it personal or trying to "cure" one another. Worry about curing yourself, not others. When you force a cure on someone who didn't ask for it, it will have the opposite effect. -
Leo Gura replied to MiracleMan's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Edvard You won't understand until I spend an hour and a half explaining it. This is a highly technical topic which sits at the intersection of evolutionary theory and information theory. You guys constantly keep falling into the trap of assuming that reality is simple and linear. When is it gonna dawn that every topic is enormously complex and counter-intuitive, requiring much research? If you haven't read the latest research on evolution, then as Walter says in the Big Lebowski: "You're out of your element." You can start by reading the books on my list. -
Leo Gura replied to Leo Gura's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
It's not about verbal answers so much as about your ACTUAL identification. Here... let's make it very simple: 1) You believe you exist, right? 2) Okay, so then WHAT are you? What is it that you think you are? A body? What is that? And how can you be sure you're a body? Why aren't you the coffee table? If you're the body, then what is everything else? How can you be a body when the body is actually just a set of perceptions? Are you saying you're a perception? What about in deep sleep? There's no perceptions or body in deep sleep. So what are you then? What were you before you were born? Don't try to come up with logical answers. Instead, try to realize that you actually don't know what you are. And then just wonder, What could I be? Don't forget... maybe you don't exist!
