Well, you are mixing survival issues with God-realization, which is a bit unfair. You are too wise for your own good! But not wise enough not to hang yourself with your knowledge of enlightenment. So you are stuck in a sort of netherzone. Ultimate fulfillment is too big of a thing for you to worry about right now. I would leave some room open for enjoying basic survival and getting good at that. It won't all be for waste. It's all part of your growth. Learn to feed and cloth yourself before you go chasing dreams of enlightenment. You are right that whatever you do, life is about enjoying the journey, not the destination. This applies to earning a billion dollars as well as to spiritual work. It's too easy to pursue spiritual work joylessly. And don't forget: before enlightenment, the laundry. After enlightenment, the laundry. So you might as well get good at laundry. -

You don't need a book. Go experience some suffering. To clarify, your suffering must be mindful to dissolve ego. Mindless suffering can actually increase ego. Go do a 30 day solo retreat. You will learn suffering.

Well, that's clearly a very unresourceful mindset. Do you want to spend your whole life thinking like that? Are you happy with the results that mindset brings you? If not, what results do you want and what mindset would create them? Do you see how your current mindset create a self-fulfilling prophecy? The thing you fear you end up creating by fearing it. -
Of course it can. Like heroin or eating too much food. But if you're disciplined, you can put that money to good use rather than allowing it to make you lazy and indulgent. You're never gonna be sick of simply have lots of digits in your bank account. The problem comes in what those digits drive you to do, or not do, and what you're sacrificing to get those digits in the first place. If you have a lot of digits and it doesn't corrupt you, no problem.

Of course it depends on what kind of biz you're trying to make. If you're starting a new car company you might need $5 billion. But I started my first online biz for $2000-$4000. I don't know where you'll get a mortgage these days with 5-10% down. Those days are long gone. 20% is standard these days. And that mortgage will cost you an opening fee and 3-5% per year. You gonna make all that back from your dinky condo? Don't forget, a condo has expenses, utilities, property taxes, and association fees. I would either save that money for a rainy day or invest some of it into building your skills so you can get a better job or start your own biz. The best investment of money is in training. But also you should have at least $10k-20k in saving just for emergencies and wiggle room. Don't be spending all your money. You need the wiggle room to change jobs, move cities, get needed healthcare, etc.

No, I had to start anew from scratch. Of course many skills I learned transferred over. I knew that I would not. It was a stepping stone. A lot of it dissolved on its own. And I handed it over to my brother to manage so I could be free of it. It's very hard to leave a successful business that brings in lots of money. Very hard. It's like quitting heroin or the mafia.

But how deeply?

Judgment, ego, shadow, and lack of compassion all go hand in hand. The less developed one's sense of self is, the lower one is on the Spiral, the more one judges, the less compassion one has, the larger one's shadow is, the more one must fight, deny, project, distract, distort, demonize, crusade, and justify. Suffering is the most direct path to compassion for others who suffer. Suffering is the ego dissolving. Suffering leads to love. It's very simple: any teaching which teaches judgment and fear instead of love is false. The degree to which your teacher is afraid of anything, he is corrupt.

I thought it was obvious I say such things tongue-in-cheek. I deliberately choose ridiculous examples to show humans how ridiculous we are. Before we can become conscious we must first be honest about how unconscious we are. What is it that you do at home which is the equivalent of "jerking off to porn"? The points I make are never limited to any specific example. Think of each example as the tip of a giant iceberg which abstracts out and encompasses millions of specific examples. When I tell you to go look for a giant space kangaroo I hope you don't actually think I'm asking you to hunt for furry creatures.

https://www.actualized.org/insights/profound-quotes-016 That is the paradox of life. All meaning is imaginary, so what kind of meaning do you want to imagine? If you don't imagine consciously, you will imagine unconsciously. Not imagining is not an option. You are going to imagine something. You are going to create something. So what do you want to create? Life purpose and detachment are not opposites, they go hand in hand. -

Careful... this is incorrect. Thoughts are distinct from feelings. You can have a thought without a feeling and a feeling without a thought. Thought is also possible without language. Thought can be in the form of images. You are on the right track, but this stuff is more nuanced than you think. Of course language is used to divide up reality into categories, all categories are dualities, and then those categories are reified or made "objective" through the creation of these categories, and then language is used to construct meaning. And all of this is ultimately imaginary. -
That's a classic conservative way of reasoning. From the conservative POV, people with problems are screw-ups because they didn't work hard enough, weren't disciplined enough, and therefore deserve it. Conservatives have an allergy to compassion because they build an ego out of being morally superior to poor people, drug addicts, criminals, minorities, women, disabled people, diseased people, foreigners, animals, etc. But life has a way of knocking such people off their pedestals. JP's view of transgender people would change significantly if he had a transgender son or daughter. For example. That's how self-bias distorts one's perception of reality.

By realizing that by not making a choice, you've made the worst choice. Your heart tells you what the right path is. But do you dare to listen to it?

@XYZ Sure, seeing the Truth can cause a terror response in the body. "Shock and awe" is a good way to describe certain deep existential insights. But that's usually upon first glimpses. Once you have many awakenings the terror of it goes away and you're mostly just left with awe. Die a few dozen times and you'll become comfortable with it. No big deal. It will be like, "Oh yeah... ego death. Cool." -
Inspiring people to grow is called leadership.

It's doesn't serve them to understand it. They just want their needs met.

Don't live in that place for 3 years. That's crazy. Hasten your plans to move out. In the meantime, ear plugs a wonderful thing. I use them around the clock to get extra peace and quiet. You are not going to get that bistro to quiet down. The solution is to move out.

@Flowerfaeiry You need to find a way to do this work so that it feels organic and at least somewhat enjoyable to do. Don't turn this into a chore. The point of seeking truth is because you genuinely care about it. Don't forget that living "ordinary life" is horrible in itself. Going back into ignorance is not going to be the bliss you imagine.

The trademark owners had it removed from YouTube by doing a trademark claim. "Spiral Dynamics" is their trademark and they will not allow any videos which teach it in a way they do not agree with it. Too much wokeness in that one The problem with the creators of SD is that they do not have a deep access of God-consciousness. So they hit a glass-ceiling around the Yellow-Turquoise stage. The scientific mind cannot reach beyond Turquoise, yet that's when things start to get most interesting. If you want to really understand SD you will have to eventually abandon SD.

Plenty of Democrats are capable of beating Trump. Don't make Trump out to be strong when he's actually weak. Paper tigers aren't strong.
