Dangers of experiencing ecstatic highs

One teacher of mine is krishna dass and I've been struggling to integrate something i heard him say recently about, not using the practice like a drug to escape your life and that he sincerely hopes that through the practice you wont experience these blissful highs, he says it will send you down all kinds of routes for lifetimes to come trying to recreate it, he may have said more but i cant remember and im not sure where i heard him say it. Does this run counter to allot of the stuff actualized.org is teaching? Krishna dass did allot of lsd in the 60's and it lead him to his guru but it made him extremely depressed from what i have heard like suicidal. idk is this a danger or does god realisation kind of end these 'routes' that he was talking about. I dont have access to psychedelics unfortunately so i feel my insight is really limited compared to others in this group hahah. Thoughts?
