Never Ending Self-help Drama

1 post in this topic

Here are some quotes and a couple of my writings I arranged to help those who seem to watch so many self-help videos and read all about it, yet they can't seem to find the point of action. A spoiler is this quote from me, "First deal with the fear of acting without action, and then with the fear of action during action."

Miyamoto Musashi once said, "You can only fight the way you practice"

This means that, if you consider thing in thought and not action, your experience in action will never come.

Bruce Lee said, "Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it."

This is also true in terms of addiction. The same technique may become a habit and your use of it may be to the point that you do it for the sake of action which results in a worse condition than if you didn't use it. Like being addicted to spitting, going through stress, spitting, and you feeling worse off than you would've if you didn't spit. Like feeling stupid (mind you that you need only be embarassed if you are ashamed of something. ask yourself if you are ashamed of that thing you are embarrassed about). learn to assess each situation as it comes your way and what you are capable of is useful.

“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you'll never get it done." -Bruce Lee

This is true when considering the quote, "As you think, so shall you be."

If you contemplate things never beyond the point of contemplation, you will only have success contemplating them. However, you are at a good start because you are beyond contemplating the basics and have arrived at the stage of action. Be reminded that if you practice fighting slow you will not fight well in an actual fast paced fight. If you only ever think about something and you are too fearful to act, naturally you will not act do to your animal instincts. You should first deal with the fear of acting without action, and then with the fear of action during action. Learn how to finish.
