Lack Of Motivation

4 posts in this topic

Hi guys ,

in highschool i used to be very diligent and serious student , i studied very hard and got a scholarship to a college

however when i went into college , the first semester went pretty nasty all my grades started to drop and i didnt become so motivated to study like i used to, and started seeing those who spend a lot of time studying as nerds

and i started to half-assing things , i lost interest in getting full marks and high gpa, now getting full marks does not get my motor running.  plus i failed in two courses because of procrastinating , this shit got out of hand and started to annoy me.

Any advice to overcome this problem ?

Thanks

I made a very similar mistake early on in college! For motivation, I recommend to detach from your work and focus on mobilizing your way to success by re-creating your strategy! Ask yourself "how can I create intrinsic motivation?" Here are some great videos Leo shot on motivation

@Mostafa Kibar why did you start your course?  What aspirations did you have before starting...  Get in touch with that, don't just study for grades or anything external. If you think this is not the right degree for you change it do what you love, follow your bliss find the courage to do it I'm searching my purpose now after i completed a degree I'm not really passionate about.

My school experience can be summarized as follows in terms of 'success':

Brilliant results > Conformist reprimands > Average results > Spark of aspiration > Brilliant results > Dropout

I relate to what you say as I used to be straight A and extremely competitive within multiple of the academic Olympiads. Then in my second year of high school, I completely lost all motivation in an existential/spiritual depressive, nihilist critical way.

What I have come to adopt is a very care-free, detached relation to motivation or outcome. I don't do very much, and I don't care very much about very much anymore, anyway. This leads to a feeling of restlessness. I would also be interested in any further advice.
