Looking For Business Advice

Hello there, I am a 20 year old student and pretty clueless when it comes to business start ups. I was wondering if someone with experience could talk me through the steps in the process of transforming an idea for an business into the physical thing.

Some questions I have

1) Out of the many ideas I have for business startups, how do I know which one to commit to? 

2) Are there any books you recommend?

3) Suppose I do commit to an idea, where do i go from there? What research do I need to do? Do I need to write a business plan of some sort? How would I go about finding investors?

4) Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of becoming my own boss apart from reading? I'm thinking events, talks, meet ups, connecting with other people etc
