Is mediation before self enquiry necessary???

I started mediating before doing self enquiry..but the problem is I keep developing concentration mediation but when it's time to do self enquiry I always make excuses like I keep posponding the self enquiry and always ended up not doing ... what should I do ...it comes with all sort of excuses like it's too tiring and it takes a lot of time
