The ego, the pleasure of knowing oneself

You sing, but you can never hear yourself sing

If you record your singing, you end up listening to a recording of your singing

 

You look in the mirror, you will never see your face, you try to see your face, you will never see it

Dance, you may record how you dance, you will never see yourself dancing

You may be a friend to someone, you will never know what is it like to have yourself as a friend

You walk, you will never see what its like to see you walking, what your walk looks like

 

If every single person on this planet has ego problems, is it not obvious that the greatest pleasure of them all is to know yourself? The forbidden fruit

The sun shining its warmth on all stars, on all animals, plants.... the sun may never experience whats its like to feel its own rays embracing it, that is the gift of the sun

Why do we rate friendship? "Oh that guy is a good friend, that guy is a bad friend...."

For reference so that we may know what our own friendship is like "if that guy is so and so I must be...."

"If that guy is tall, I am short, if that guy is silent, I am loud"

We rate the sexual performances of others! "Oh he or she was good in bed!" So that we may get closer to tasting our own sexual performance!

"He walks weirdly, he dances funnily"

" I walk normal, I dance in a boring way"

Trying to grasp yourself, trying to taste yourself, trying to know who you are....because we are not human bodies walking around on a rock, shitting, eating and fucking,..we are more.

This insane pleasure of wanting to know yourself.....thats the ego

The gift of being who you are, sharing the amazingness of who you are with everyone else, while not knowing any of this pleasure for yourself, it is all for others, given to others, shining like the sun, thats love, thats connection.

What you receive is the light that you shine on all life, on all the other stars, helping life grow, helping stars shine brighter, you get to be illuminated by everyone else
